| I think if you say there's a user on the Internet on your typical social media site that's younger than 30 years old, 9 times out of 10, you'd be right. But it also depends on where you go as well. If I join a car forum right now, the average user is 30 as opposed to I think 20 on a site like Facebook. If I log onto MAL, the average user is in their late teens or early '20s. If I visit a site like Runescape or Roblox, the average user is most likely in their early to mid teens. It really depends. So if I were a 60-year-old pedophile still playing Runescape, there's an age gap, which is a good thing for me. But if I were a 60-year-old car enthusiast on a site like Jalopnik or a Ferrari forum, then there's less of a gap as Ferrari owners tend to be older and middle-aged. |

| Only thing that matters is -do your interlocutor knows how to have a proper discussion (with logical arguments) or not. If he does, then discussing with him will be interesting even if he's far younger or far older. If he doesn't, then no matters the age, besides talking about shallow stuff from time to time without trying to hear his/her opinion on something and without arguing back when you hear some nonsense coming from him/her, don't try having proper discussion. And well, you can't know that by knowing the age of your interlocutor. Talk with him/her, see if he/she's interesting to talk to. If not, then don't involve in anything deeper than talking about the weather. Really, age on Internet is a false problem. If anything, mental age is closer of what you need to consider; but even that isn't exactly correct either. |
