THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
So Anne is finally off to Queen's, and a new phase of life has begun for her (which looks like the last phase for the show).

Deep down, I just don't feel like finishing this. I wish there were more episodes. The book seems to have a lot of sequels, but it seems Takahata just stuck with the first book in the series. Man, finishing this is going to suck big time...
"...our faces marked by toil, by deceptions, by success, by love; our weary eyes looking still, looking always, looking anxiously for something out of life, that while it is expected is already gone – has passed unseen, in a sigh, in a flash – together with the youth, with the strength, with the romance of illusions.” - Joseph Conrad ('Youth')

I know! I wish they would at least adapt Anne of Avonlea, Anne of the Island and Anne's House of Dreams.

"Anne is God's gift to us... Maybe it was God's intention to bring her to us. Maybe He felt that we needed this child"

Matthew's reflection towards the end of this episode moved me to tears. The fact that Anne brought so much happiness and fulfillment to this simple, awkward but abundantly benevolent soul makes me love her all the more.

I find it rather impudent of that american couple that they want to adopt her.
Didn't the Cuthberts already kinda adopt her? I mean, they went through all the ups and downs while raising her, feeding her and educating her.

Why does that couple even think that they could adopt her now?

"Oh, thank you for your hard work on raising this child to a fine young lady, we would like to have her now." or something like that?

If they can't have children, then they should adopt some child in need from an orphanage, like the Cuthberts did.

A rather silly episode (and chapter in the book?) that aims to remind the viewer of how much Anne loves her home.
Why else would they construct a miracle-like situation where suddenly a rich couple, that can offer everything Anne has ever dreamed of in her childhood, would want to adopt Anne?

Quite a heartrending episode. The culmination of Anne's growth and time at Green Gables was really felt, especially since I've been watching this on and off for a few years myself. It's incredibly moving to think how Anne's time there has not only given her a hopeful future, but also offered Matthew & Marilla a once in a lifetime opportunity to have the family life they missed out on in their old age.

The thing I like the most about this show is how real characters feel. Matthew, my man! Such a heartwarming episode.

I'm pretty sure the weather is so hot today that I'm sweating buckets. The show itself is very chill and soothing to watch with occasional little drama but I can tell the episodes are getting heavier. I think that's the hardest part of growing up and leaving your happy childhood life and your hometown behind. Watching this show just reminds me that I never grow up at all since I'm still living with my parents and being spoiled despite of already working myself. Totally going to miss its soothing life in the rural area in Avonlea.
