Companies hire them to track and warn downloaders of their material. Aniplex, the producer of Kara no Kyoukai is using this service to send DMCA infringement notices to downloaders outside of Japan. It's primarily torrent based but apparently they go after ddl sources and stuff sometimes too. Some ISPs in the US will terminate people's internet if they receive DMCA notices about the user (as it's a breach of the EULA/terms and agreement of most ISPs) however there is a lot of legal debate over whether ISPs have the right to do so over a simple allegation, as all BayTSP have is an IP and time, which have been proven to be inaccurate in some cases. A bunch of downloaders in Singapore were sued recently over the notices, too. It's quite a mess. DMCA is a bunch of crap, but some companies are taking it pretty seriously. |

And what a coincidence is that, almost every one of the people who gave a score of 5 or below is pure TTGL fanboy/girl.Thus, people on MAL once again didn't surprise me with their fucked up logic. Also, abusing the movies is much easier than TV series or OVAs, for the movies' score is calculated and included in the general score even if somebody places it in ptw and rate it 1, same goes for the dropped list as well. But in TV series, you are required to watch at least 1/5 episodes of the series for your score to be included in the pool. So, if the scores for the movies only calculated according to the scores that are only listed in completed lists, it would be much more informative and it would reflect the truth.(And, oh, i don't have a plan for the people who are shameless and brainless enough to put the movie in their completed lists just to rate it 1, and unfortunatelly i'm sure there are some.) |

You should all probably stop spending so much time and energy whining about it and realize that it still hasn't even broken 5k views/votes, while TTGL has over 25k. As more people see it and the initial "OMG FIRST PLACE" hypefest dies off, more scores of 6, 7, and 8 will bring it back down to a more believable position. The charts on this site are horribly skewed by various factors anyway, so I don't see why any of you should care so much about that. It is what it is to you, and who cares about an overall list like this one when people can obviously manipulate it so easily? |

Heck i even know a another user who marathoned the 5 movies and initally gave 9 to the 5th just to bring it down to 8 cause he 'suddenly' came to the realization that the bad guy just wasn't that cool anymore. | wow, that is literally the most screwed up thing iv ever heard about this site................. *sigh* this has actually gotten really funny btw. the score keeps going up everytime it goes down. either more people are watching and rating it high because it is good (most probable) or someone is trolling it with 10s (the one i need to say but is most likely not whats going on). if its the latter it would actually get pretty entertaining to see the fight... and if its the former the following will probably happen. the score is going to fluctuate alot in that small percent between 9.01 - 9.03 or 4 and maybe even go from first to second to first in a cycle, and seems that as more people rate it high more trolls will appear and eventually there will be more 1 votes then 2-5 votes put together :P |

Shh...This was supposed my top secret plan to give some overrated hype to the anime that I plan to watch. That way, when I really watched it, I'll bound to be disappointed by it's flaw and will start to hack away it's score. This way, if it ends up with a 1 score then so be it. If they are no flaws to pick or even nibble on, well.....Haruhi forbid I might just have to score it a 10. My sense of being overhyped (lol) is now long gone T_T |
