Attack on Titan
| How times have changed. IMO, SAO and GC are nowhere near SNK. SAO and GC want to be SNK but fail. Maybe SNK isn't the best anime ever, but it really is better than SAO for sure. Not sure about GC (haven't seen it), but SNK is very likely better than that too, going by people's opinions. SNK would be the least overrated of the three by far. We'll see where it stands in the coming to weeks once its over, but a 5 would be the very least you can possibly give this series. 8.5, round it up to 9 from me. |

| lol you couldn't be more wrong, but I have to say I was just like you when it came to Code Geass and actually Attack on Titan. I thought both animes were greatly overrated till I took the time to watch both and Code Geass is the only anime but that made me physically cry with so much emotion and Attack on Titan has to be my top 3 of all time. Sometimes you have to give things a try before viewing it negatively. Still not watching Free though lol |

The fears going into the anime for the non-moronic variety was that due to the lack of manga chapters the anime would be forced off onto its own path. Those fears turned out to be unfounded and, instead, we had to deal with 1-chapter pacing--a fair trade-off. The OP admits he was wrong, in any event. No need to bump the thread to be arseholeish: his fears were grounded in common sense. Anyone with a few braincells worth rubbing together would've thought along the same lines before the series started. |

| It met the expectations of the hype so it's fine. I honestly expect this to flop like nobody and i was betting it will fail the moment that i heard that it's getting an anime adaption. Probably the first adaptions that have exceeded my expectations and didn't flop like i think it would. |

| This thread got me thinking about Kotaku's rankings, which has AoT number one. Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic show, definitely top tier from 2013, but I feel people give it way too much credit. Coming in second was Hataraku Maou-sama, which I felt was more entertaining than AoT. While it wasn't nearly as serious at some points, I felt AoT tried to be too hard-assed. It doesn't take away from it, but an anime that can touch on every emotion, anger, happiness, sadness, etc, gets more out of me. |
