I'd say both have advantages and disadvantages. I don't have to worry about getting knocked up or raped (well, it's far more unusual for men to be raped) and I don't have to turn into an over-emotional and overreacting bitch every month.
As a lot of people mentioned though, women can wear whatever they want and they can hold hands with their female friends without being called lesbians whereas a guy hugs his best friend and he's a homo forever (an exaggeration, but you get the idea).
My life after I left house would be a lot easier if I were a girl I suppose, hell in my current job (a waiter) the tips are almost nonexistent in comparison to the ones that my female colleagues get. A woman can get out of almost any trouble if she's pretty.
It must suck to be a woman in islamic countries or in India, but in 'normal' countries I'd say it's more or less equal.
The only thing you can rely on is that you can't rely on anything.

There's going to be pain either way for females, it's the choice of the lesser of two evils. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I always figured boys would have it easier than girls. Although I'm a bit biased considering I'm female. lol. Boys aren't expected to do anything except have good hygiene while girls have to dress nice, stay thin, deal with bleeding endlessly once a month and having cramps and being emotional and craving sugary snacks just so mother nature can tell her she's not pregnant! If a guy decides he wants to come to school a mess, he can, guys don't care. But if a girl goes to school a mess not only is she suddenly boy repellent, but all the girls talk trash about her over it. Women who go to war often get raped by the men or shunned as "not strong enough" for war. Girls have to impress men and other women in order to be "socially accepted" while boys don't have to impress anyone unless they want to.

But after reading through some other things I see how boys have it difficult too. Interesting.

I wish a potato, they must have it easiest in life.

I think it'd be much easier to be male. Males don't have it easy, but they have it easier than females. And in my opinion, males are superior, mentally and emotionally and physically. Both have their pros and cons, to be honest.

Well, we do have to go to the gym. Getting those six pack abs is waaaaaay harder than you'd think.

Oh, no, no. You misunderstand male social hierarchy. It's tough shit. Anybody who doesn't make an active, and successful, effort to impress women is immediately a loser. That's where a man's value lies. And don't even get me started on the metaphorical dick measuring contests between dudes.

Uhm, no. That's just bro culture, which is only relevant in bro circles. It's not relevant in the work place (unless your work is the army, a manly trade, or the like) and, for many men, it's not relevant anywhere.

Again, men are only expected to have six packs in bro circles. Outside of those circles, that expectation doesn't exist. Not having a six pack has never stopped someone from being respected, finding a romantic partner, or anything else.

Of course, men are still expected to look "toned," because of the general hatred of fat people.

So the problem is that I hang out with bros? I guess I won't deny that. Do you think cultural differences may play a part in your comment here though, Canadabro? I dunno what people in Canada are really like.

Probably. I don't know how old you are, but you should see those expectations loosening after high-school and especially after university (admittedly, I've only been out of university for three months, lol, but I can still see some changes unfolding).

Do you think cultural differences may play a part in your comment here though, Canadabro? I dunno what people in Canada are really like.
Perhaps, but I don't think any difference would be too significant.

If you happen live in a place with an above average amount of conventionally attractive and in-shape people, then you probably feel added pressure to look a certain way. However, that effect is different the effect of expectations. Fit people don't necessarily expect other people to be fit.

Yea, it's so difficult to be a man in a western civilisation, you might actually have to be the one to engage a girl in order to find a relationship.

I think most men have bigger problems to worry about than dating.

Sometimes girls do the initiating anyway. I think that usually girls expect a guy to make the first move, but I've been confessed to more than once. And if I've been confessed to, it's pretty much a guarantee other guys have received confessions too.

Statistically speaking, although society inflicts problems on both genders, men are currently at an advantage. Paid a few cents more on average, etc etc, then there are also the countries where women lack certain rights and are much more at risk. So overall, that is how it turns out.

There are a lot of categories to be taken into consideration here, so your feelings on this will ultimately depend on your current circumstances.

Biologically speaking...who knows? o: Women in general are more dexterous, men have more muscle mass. I guess it depends on what you want to do in life. :) (But there are many exceptions and things that can be overcome, except perhaps, giving birth. n_~)

Probably the most ostracized are those who don't fit into either of these categories, such as people who are transgendered.

Whichever gender the poster isn't is the one that has the advantage because we like to feel sorry for ourselves.

I'd say that men have the advantage most of the time. They make slightly more money in most jobs, their reproductive rights aren't being constantly debated (at least, in America), and they've always been considered citizens with full rights (as opposed to most places in the past, at least).

I can understand what a few people have been saying about the social expectations of men vs. women making it frustrating for some men though. Our society does look down on men who display too much emotion or other "feminine" qualities, and that's sad. On the other hand, often times a woman who displays some of the characteristics that are more masculine is labeled a bitch or a lesbian. It goes both ways, and while I think that the gender norms are just that - norms - not all people fit into them perfectly. The repercussions for that apply to both.

That's not quite true. There is a discussion on how men can fairly opt-out of parental responsibility, in the case of an accidental pregnancy. Not to say that this "balances out" with the reproductive health issues women face.
