| Okay the premise of this is somewhat simple too be honest, basically, everytime a new series comes out people instantly hop on to the bandwagon proclaiming "this is the best anime evar!!!" or other misinformed and rash statements (many such fanboys are even found later to retract these statements and join the formerly accused "hipsters" or "elitists" in saying things like "this anime is shit!"). So basically, do you think that it is possible that SnK fans have merely gotten caught up in the hype of it all and soon the anime is going to fall drastically in popularity as the original "flame" it had burns out. Furthermore do you think that the anime community is too quick to elevate some new series to being "the best" after a single episode just to realize it isn't after a few more episodes yet repeat the same process a few months later? I actually don't believe this is the case but feel free to hate me all the same for daring to comparing SnK fans to SAO fans |

| If somebody gets "caught up in the hype", and expresses that they like the show, they already liked it to begin with. Nobody changes their opinion because other people say something else. Generally, people actually get mad when a lot of people disagree and try and fight all the harder to show their discontent. "Hype" is caused by people liking something. Not the other way around. |

| SnK is overhyped but still a decent show so some of the praise is warranted SAO isn't as good or as bad as people would have you believe but it's still a shitty show overall Honestly I find the people who rant and rave about how much they hate the show tend to be much more annoying than the fans. Especially with SnK where most of its hate comes from people focusing too much on they hype to realise it's actually competently written |

| Nah, anime itself was, is, and will always be a top priority for me. A decade or so, there weren't even anime communities to begin with, or they were presented rather locally, and by far were less in numbers. I am pretty certain that anime fans exist outside forums, as well as forums are usually more useful to people who are new/er in watching anime. That is, I don't entirely agree that anime communities should be presented as institutions of some sort - they are not - and what is best in not being such, is that they excel in being flexible and dynamic in gathering fans. Then again, fans are not some sort of a paper-cut scarecrow - they are people and also different people. If I come to an anime forum, I prefer to see them as persons, with various thoughts and tastes, not as lynching groups in label wars, lacking whatsoever sense. That is, anime series might be less good and bad than people make them to be. And this refers not only to SnK or SAO, but every damn series. I seriously thought that SAO was the number #1 on this site, judging by the unexplainable flood of topics on hype, rate, or PMS rants in SnK sub-board. While I highly appreciate that 'the anime community" has taken a more critical stance after SAO, it seems to me that nothing can stop it from making the mistake in going to the other extreme - bashing new series because they are popular, disregarding whether they are also good in the same time. How popularity ends should depend on the series. Fans and non-fans are free to reflect this in any way they deem fit. As an anime fan, and a fan of SnK, this is what I'll do. |

| Honestly, from what I've seen? A large proportion of the anime's fans can be called that, yes. Though I think SnK has been able to touch upon a much larger audience due to its lack of hamfisted harem and romance elements, as well as just being a better series overall. And I don't think the flame will die out just yet. In regards to SAO, I'm guessing you're talking about the second half, right? Assuming they continue to closely follow the source material, SnK's second half should be much better than its first. |

| SnK has been able to reach a much larger audience because of high production value and suspenseful directing. Yes, SnK follows the shounen formula, but it's focused in its narrative. Unlike many other of the shounen genre, there is clear directionality. The director knows how he wants us to feel, and he is confident towards that goal; he doesn't second-guess himself with comedic relief or inappropriate romance. Although we don't know how the series will play out yet, I like to compare what it is so far with another shounen formula anime with clear directionality: Fullmetal Achemist. |

We don't even know if they're going to stay printed in our memories for a long time. I don't think Mirai Nikki or SAO are such greats anime... They didn't have that much impact. |

| Gintama is popular and awesome..Without a doubt it's an unique anime,however it's still not finnished and so it's early to call it one of the best anime ever,but the anime shines with unique and good animation,good sound and a fascinating story.Even though there are many cliches in this anime and the characters might not be so deep BUT overall I find that the anime is good.The begining for me was a 7 then somewhere from episode 5 - 9 it was a 10 then the new episodes are kinda bad I would give it only a 8 however I will still watch it :) |

| While every series has fanboys, I actually thought Sword Art Online was pretty damn good. Yes, it couldn't make up it's mind, did a 180 and decided to introduce a too sudden romance element all of a sudden with no build up, and yes, I would have preferred Kirito to remain soloing it up for the entire series, getting a new girl every other episode, but the action remained, so I wasn't too bothered by it. While there was less of it, it was still there and in acceptable doses. All in all, while it was great, it was not quite amazing. Still, it didn't deserve half the amount of hate it got by hype haters, and it had the potential to be amazing, but made a wrong choice. Hey, we all make mistakes, right? As for SnK, I'll rate it regardless of hype like everything else. While it may actually be good, I couldn't be the judge of that as I typically hate war-ish type anime like this. I watched the first episode and it reminds me of Gurren Laggan because of the whole "we are trapped thing", and while I'm quite aware that most find Gurren Laggan to be amazing, it didn't suit my tastes as it was also war-ish. |
