I personally want a second season, cuz I feel this anime has a lot more potential and unanswered questions. I wanted to see what everyone else thinks about a second season.

A second season will most likely made up of different crew, perhaps with just one or two characters carried over. Most of the others are dead, will be dead, sent to asylum or taken into the system anyway.
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Rather than having sequel, it's best to have a prequel 1st!!

I can predict that at least 12 episodes will be needed to fit in lots of unanswered questions from the past and digging in more on some characters' backgrounds.

Although i disagree that the past has to be answered, i too want another season which will focus on everyone's past. One episode for every character. Or two.

If they are going to do something like that I hope they'll include Makishima's past.

I don't really want a second season if Makishima is dead :(

I think we'll know whether we might get a second season or not based on whether makishima dies next episode, or not. If he does, then it's safe to say there probably won't be another season :/ cause another season without makishima wouldn't be as intriguing to the audience

If he gets away it would be a big letdown though, how is he supposed to get away from Kagami and Akane in this situation? It would be a very cliche open ending that way and imo it would make the anime a lot less likeable. The fact that they aren't afraid of killing the good guys and the intensity of the final battle they've created would be pointless if he got away [again] in the final episode... at least for me it would.

If they do in fact end the anime with a closed ending [aka Makashima dies], I'd like to see an OVA or special whichl focuses on Makashima's past, I'm interested what happened to him and how it has influence on his behavior later on.

I agree. Also Ova's would be a good idea. They should do the past for Kougami, Makashima and Kagari.

I'd absolutely love it, but I would wonder what would the story be based on and involve new or old characters if they did so. I think if they made another season a prequel dealing with Kougami from when he first became a detective leading up to where Psycho Pass starts would be an amazing idea.
We get some back story, but it feels like they could expand so much more on the past during Kougami's days as a detective if they wanted too.

This is a much higher possibility compared to a 2nd season. The story can be shorter and more compact in a movie.I think a prequel can fit perfectly well in a movie format. And the sales and popularity of the show seem to indicate sufficient fan support can be depended upon for a movie.

Ehh I don't think it needs a second season AS LONG AS it ends well next episode. Chances are they won't wrap everything nicely and will leave a little to the imagination, but I don't think a second season is really needed. I really do enjoy the show so in that sense I'd love to see more, but chances are the same cast of characters won't be around and it'll defeat the whole purpose.

How about a movie focusing on Kougami's days when he was a detective until he became an enforcer? That would be great I think.

I'd rather not have a 2nd season, I don't see the need for it. I would rather see something different

But a movie could be interesting.

The "problem" with plot driven show is that it can be easily harmfull to extend them past the initial story.

That would be great but I think this is as far as the story can go. It won't be as exciting as it is now if we're already aware of the fact behind sibyl or whatnot. I'm a bit sad that this anime is ending but I'm pretty sure this last episode would show us a decent ending, OR a great ending/conclusion, that would be awesome.

makishima has to die in this season to have a legit sequel. nothing worst than keeping a great villain alive just to drag it out until it becomes bland. i mean how many times have they chased after makishima, spoil his plans and then he ends up getting away again?

a sequel has to be separate from this first one. whata attractive about this anime is the premise of the Sybil system, dominator and the two main characters. they can introduce a new villain (someone that could be even more awesome than makishima?). new detective and enforcers. we all know there isnt just them and there are alot of diff units. basically a totally separate plot. there are so many possibilities
-kougami returns to the unit? after defying sybil?
-akane's prerogative with her conscience, she knows alot about Sybil, how would she cope?
-Yayoi's story with her musician friend
-nobuchika's reaction to his dad's death, how would it affect his psycho pass?
-or makishima doesnt die, but get inserted to Sybil and slowly ruins that "collective mind" and destroy it from within.

of course a prequel would be nice too. exploring everyone's background. the main villain could be that one criminal who they keep comparing makishima to because he couldnt be judged also. the one who was caught eventually and was inserted to the Sybil system

it does seem like there are alot of plot that are left unanswered and can be explored.

Season 2 will deal with Akane and Kougami switching sides with Makishima.

Let me explain. After killing Makishima, the Sibyl System will declare Akane and Kougami,

"Enemies Of The State"

Because,

1. The Sibyl System attempted to trick Akane into using the Dominator on Kougami, but she did not fall for it.
2. Kougami, the greatest threat to the system is still alive.

We will see the world expand as Kougami and Akane go on the run and in the process of this epic story that will move between Japan and the mainland of Asia. (where we will see the backstory that a Third World War destroyed much of the world and out of the ashes, rose the Sibyl System)

In the end, we will see the two of them overthrowing the tyrannical government with the Resistance Movement (Yayoi's friends will cause issues within the movement, possibly Civil War because of the Anarchists.)

The characters Yayoi and Shion are in the air at this moment, it is unclear of their destiny.

My inside sources have already confirmed Urobuchi plans to make this a long-running show, possibly on the likes of Code Geass where it will be 50-60 episodes long.

the entire series looks like a prequel. The whole series looked like it was pointing the flaw in society, if a second season came in it will build on the revolution then possibly new characters maybe a resistance group. (What happened to Rina?)

Depending on how it ends but I think the chance of second season is low. If the ending completely ties all loose ends then there will be no second season. A good story should end where it needs to. I'm sure Urobochi understood that as he has done it many times in his previous works.

A movie, or a prequel like others said are possible. In fact, I'm positive they will be green-lid as soon as the sales figures are good enough

This!!! better villain than Makishima? I think it's already introduced. what about Sybils main brain (or is it a person) it's a mystery and it has to be solved. If there was a 2nd season it should be a battle between enforcers/detectives Vs Makishima Sybils brain (main villain)

Sibyl is a collections of about 200 brains working in consensus, so I don't think there is one "main brain" that control them all.
One possible plot route can be created with the creator of Sibyl, sort of like the Matrix plot when the protagonists have to figure out the mystery behind the construction of Sibyl. However, that better suited to be a prequel rather than a season 2.
If the ending is open enough, such as the wheat virus is successfully released, then we can have a sequel highlighting the struggle of new protagonists against Sibyl. But this is only possible if the ending portrayed Sibyl as completely bad and worthy to be destroyed. There is also a problem of coming up with a new system that can effectively replace Sibyl. Throughout the series, we were led to believe that replacing the system is not an option in that universe. Thus the choice Akane has to face become less impactfull, as all of her internal struggles now seem unnecessary since she can easily follow Makishima to destroy Sibyl. Because of that, a season 2 following this path risks downgrading the original show's meaning.

They could honestly turn Psycho-pass into a franchise with more then just 2 seasons. The whole idea behind Sibyl, the background stories of the characters, Kougami as an inspector, and how or if Sibyl will end or not. These are all potential questions, and things we would all love to know. I can't imagine this series just ending with only 22 episodes.
