Yeah most "slice of life" anime get me depressed, because despite what people are saying, things that occur in that particular genre are actually feasible in real life.
On another note, Angel Beats got me depressed when
Konbu is important

Not when watching anime. I, however, wept a tear or two in some particularly compelling scenes, but I would not consider that depression.

Unless I wasted time watching an anime, it's a no, since I watch anime to get out of depressions.

Meh Clannad: After Story DID depress me in certain moments. I was like "DEAR GOD WHY, WHY???"

I'm a self-taught composer, and here you can find the tracks I've composed so far:

A single click on each one of them would make me really happy!

In response to the thread there are some really depressing anime. As much as I love Evangelion, it makes me terribly depressed, the series and End of Evangelion at least, not so much the rebuilds. I guess you could consider it a depressing series, as it does have a lot depressing moments and was influenced by Anno's clinical depression so makes sense, but I would say something like Grave of the Fire Flies should make me more depressed then Eva. It doesn't...

But then I get over it.

Not really.. nothing really depresses me.. I might get sad for a day over something that happened to a character I like.. but I usually take the story/events as experience and get smarter from it and also fuels my motivation to live

your a little too into anime there swordparty, anyway no i don't, i hardly watch anime, just shippuuden sometimes, if people sit in their room and watch anime for hours on end, even if they enjoy it they will get depressed, cause their immersing themselves in a awesome/ perfect world that doesn't exist, and because of how much they watch it they will eventually start comparing it to the outside world, resulting in nothing but disappointment since anime life can be made to be perfect, and where real life definitely is not.

This is definitely how I go about watching my animes. I spend an entire day finishing an entire anime that consists of 2 seasons every once in a while, pulling all nighters if I need to. I immerse myself so deeply that I feel an intense Melancholy when I am nearing the end of a great anime. Not only because I want that kind of world to be a reality, but also because I don't want the show to end. It's like forming an emotional bond with something and losing it with no chance of getting it back. It's like I am being forced to grieve over the genocide of a fictional world. It sucks, but starting a new anime or finding a way to keep my emotions from bottling up always helps to fix the problem.

I'm nearing the end of Code Geass and I'm starting to get this feeling again, so I came here to cope and get my dosage of closure. :3

I used to be like this, not only with anime, but with other things as well. I used to feel this way after I watched a great movie or read a good book. I remember I felt like this after I watched Persona 4 The Animation. However, after I realized that it's just fiction, I got over it. You just need to find ways to make your life interesting, like by getting a hobby or hanging out with friends.

It may look exaggerated on the surface, but it's not that difficult of a concept. There are times that simply what is shown in the screen appeals to a latent feeling, a concern that becomes expressed and magnified by something you watch in fiction and feel weirdly attached to it. I just got this a few minutes ago, at the 5th episode of Welcome to the NHK today. And it hurts, but to a point, it's a satisfying experience because this sort of attachment is anything but common.

I get depressed after every recent episode of Hunter x Hunter, followed by a weird sensation to punch something and then pray the next episode comes out fast.

On the other side, I was watching Gintama / Sket Dance and One Piece during some rough times and they made me just fly through them. ^^

Yeah, I think I'm too empathetic when it comes to other people tragedies. I don't think I'll ever want to re-watch Grave of Fireflies. Last Exile had a similar effect on me, once was quite enough. Tokyo Godfathers was quite depressing too underneath all that comedy.

Going through Shinsekai Yori was difficult too, but i think I was more disturbed than depressed in this case and I want to believe that it ended on a positive note. Same with NGE it wasn't so much depressing as disturbing.
