@NyaNyaa: Tsurara from Nurarihyon no Mago
I'll definitely second Mikuru.

@majorkusanagi: maybe One Piece? tbh, I'm confused as to what you are looking for.

@shina: I see. then is it ok for me to recommend you some manga? Billy Bat, Because Goodbyes Are Coming Soon,Biomega (and its prequel, BLAME!), Drifters, Futatsu no Spica, Gogo Monster, Oyasumi Punpun, The Music of Marie, Threads of Time, for example, feature this there in one way or another.
Also, Planetarian is a nice short visual novel you might enjoy

I know Goodbyes are coming soon already. That was fine.
Billy Bat is on my purchase list, as it comes out here next year.
Isn't blame pretty dark and bloody, too?

But will check the others out, too.

@Majorkusanagi, maybe try Terra e... It shows conflict betwen evolved humans and normal humans and shows both sides of the conflict. Gin'iro no Olynsis is another. It's a bit like a worse version of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, so watch it at your own risk. There's also Uchuu no Stellvia, where they try to save Earth. More about saving Earth is in the second half of anime, so if You try it, don't get discouraged. :P

@Shina_luna, from time related manga try L∞p. It's a one shot, so there won't be a problem reading it. :P

Woah, that was pretty bloody.... @___@
The loop topic also didn't seem to be too much in focus, there was only one loop shown after all. But that was alright, it did touch what I was searching in some manner

@Major: When I read your post in the evening, I was less confused.
Try Uchuu Kyoudai from your PTW list. Uchuu Kyoudai is an uplifting anime about space exploration/becoming an astronaut somewhat similar in feel with Planetes.
You could also watch Gunbuster's sequel, also listed on your PTW list.

@Shina: if you find L∞p bloody, you might wanna avoid Blame!, as well as Drifters and especially Threads of Time. I actually shouldn't have mentioned the later as it contains at least one rape scene. Not one of the explicit ones in manga, but still... The story was generic, so I wasn't even paying attention.

Most people who dislike Blame! say its style over substance, find it confusing or dislike the art style/almost total lack of dialogue (I think there are chapters where no one ever talks).

Now that you mention it I see that drifters is probably this other series from the Hellsing author? Pretty sure then, I won't like it. =X
And which one is the one you say has a very generic story?

I think I had read exepercpts from Blame and noise some years aog before. The only thing I remember was it had a very dark amosphere and smelled like bloody violence inducing that. But perhaps I mixed it up with some other series. =X

Alright, this is my last resort...Trigun...telling you how time plays a role in this series will probably be too much of a spoiler, but basically, it's set in a place where people have been displaced from their own time to one resembling the wild west (cowboys, revolvers and fat hookers galore - though they're all pretty and have teeth because it's anime). The protagonist is also seemingly timeless. It's a pretty goofy series, but manages to get in some nice action and philosophy along the way.

Back again for another recommendation. I want something with a girl who is pretty ditzy. Something like Ikaros from Sora no Otoshimono or Shiina from Sakurasou. Any suggestions?
Here are harem anime with ditzy females(usually the heroine) who might seem like they don't understand society's rules( like wearing clothes, and when to say things) like those two you mentioned.

Ah My Goddess - Belldandy
Arakawa Under the Bridge - Nino-san
Chobits - Chii
Vandread - Dita Liebely

Hm Any anime worth watching this season?
I only got 3 that i'm watching which are Bakuman S3, Sakurasoa and Tonari no Kabitsu-kun
Likes: Comedy, Romance, Slice of life, Action and anything with a good story. A smart lead character would be pretty good as well. (Have a look at my list for more detailed)
Dislike: Harem, Horror

I don't mind if any of my dislike genre come up as long as the anime is generally pretty good. Any recommendations will be much appreciated.

zetsuen no tempest

I am somewhat ahead with the manga, and in contains quite a lot of nice action flavored with some drama, romance and comedy, along with eloquent talks as a side dish. And with Bones the action parts are in pretty good hands.

@darkwap, from what I'm watching I can say:
Btooom! - action, and more action
Busou Shinki - comedy+action
Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! - great comedy so far, but it'll probably turn out as harem, yet so far it doesn't act like it, not ecchi. :P
K - aciton, a bit comedy
Little Busters! - comedy, a bit drama, probably a bit harem, will know after a while
Magi - aciton, and more action, I'm reading the manga, and I can say, there'll be even more action, some comedy, and a bit of drama
Psycho-Pass - from 1 episode it looks like acition, and has a bit that GitS feeling...
Jormungand - if You watched first season, there wouldn't be a reason to write it here, but it's action, yet since You didn't watch it, You'd have to watch the first seaon before starting it. It has the Black Lagoon feeling, but that also probably doesn't tell you anything. :P
And what Shina_luna wrote.

Kanon (2006) is like Clannad. Same type of almost harem, singular slow romance

Black Cat is like Angel Beats!. It's the rebels with weapons concept, but Black Cat focuses more on personal philosophy unlike Angel Beats! which focused more on action/comedy (still plenty of both in Black Cat though.

Also, I second his first...hahaha

Hey,

can you reccommend me any animes/mangas like Higurashi/Umineko?

-happy/innocent beginning
- show/plot getting progressively darker
- characters snapping/breaking
- faux-shonen moments (e.g the hero NOT appearing in time)
- don't mind if it has a good or bad ending
- doesn't have to be action-filled, the story is more important

Thanks in advance

I'm actually watching Higurashi now, and was given this recommendation when asking for shows resembling "Another"...although now that I think about it, the setting of that show automatically gives youa dark feeling, even though it has (if I remember correctly) a mostly happy/innocent beginning. If anything, I'd at least check it out for one to two episodes, I personally was hooked almost immediately, but we can't all have the same tastes. I'm sure the more experienced otaku can give you better recommendations though.

Edit: Just don't listen to Ziggy, he'll offer "Durarara" as a choice for any occasion! (this wink goes out to Ziggy ";)")

@Gin

Anime

Madoka - Has everything you ask for....

Code Geass - not really fit your description much but it's a good show nonetheless

School Days - You might feel like punching the MC through the monitor sometime but watch it at your own risk...

Manga

Break Blade - Fast pace action and plot progression.....Better describe it as heavy instead of dark

D.Gray-man - Action supernatural with a nice plot twist far into the manga

Pandora Heart - While it does feel heavy from the start, it has a lot of twist and turn often. You will get mindfucked a lot.

TRC - Action, adventure and fantasy with plot progress slowly but steadily until the middle of the story, there is some twist and revelation.

@Bans: I so wasn't going to! Hides Durarara!! recommendation.

@DoubtGin: You should really update your list, or you might get recommendations you've already seen.
But, regardless, check out Darker than Black: Kuro no Keiyakusha...it's never happy-go-lucky, but you won't see these twists coming with how it starts off.

and actually, you might as well replace your request with the anime Durarara!! I recommend this at odd times, but it's perfect for this request, it fits all the criteria.

Another search query~

Looking for titles with classical music.
There is no need to feature a long list of various works as Nadome Cantabile, Gankutsuou or Princess Tutu do; one single track or a very few ones featured either in a nicely repetitive way for atmohphere (Hyouka) or in a very nice scene (climax ?) would do too, like in the Suzumiya Haruhi Movie with Satie's Gymnepedies and Gnosiennes or Dvorak's 9th Symhpnie currently in shinsekai yori or in that one certain episode of Mawaru Penduindrum or Beethoven's Tempest sonanta in Zetsuen no Tempest.

Again, I guess, I watched most of it already. The only ones I know, I have yet missed are Legend of the Galactic Heroes (currently not so much into space opera), La corda d'oro (starting soon) and Hametsu no Mars (like hell I will watch that)

Titles with music, that is obviously heavily modiefied/inspired by classic would do too, I guess, if there really isn't anything else anymore.

@Shina_Luna, Mars of Destruction XD it has a bit of Chopin and Beethoven XD. Ok sorry for the trolling. I coudn't help myself. :P It realy does have that music, but it's not something to watch while not drunk. :P

This is not exactly classic. More like inspired by classic:
Gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny. It has a great soundtrack by Toshihiko Sahashi. You can try the sample from spoiler:

Of course this is only one track, from 8 OST CDs. There are more than 200 instrumental tracks in both of Gundam Seed anime.

Might also try the second season of Moonlight Mile.

Concerning Mars of Destruction, as I already said "like hell I will watch that" ^^
I heard, even the Gymnepedies is in there, which is why I will definitely absolutely never watch this. I do not want to see my pretty much utmost favorite music piece raped as horribly as folks say that thing is.

I haven't watched Gundam Seed, but I have already listened to most of Sahashi's scores. Simoun was imo far more classical inspired than Seed. In fact, I don't really get any "classic" feeling from the Seed score, but rather the typical Sahashi-Vibe. =X
Going with that Oshima's orchestra scores are also much closer to a classic feeling than Sahashi to begin with. (Through I also watched almost everything with music composed by her, too.)

I watched the first Season of Moonlight Miles back then, but didn't really like it, now it has fallen into oblivion, so I guess, that one is not much to my taste...

I liked Tari Tari, the show itself IS about music, but it's not exactly thrown in your face constantly. It however doesn't contain classic music such as Beethoven. It's still a good anime if you'd like to check it out. There's also Detective Conan's Moonlight Sonata Murder Case episode.

I haven't watched the older version, I heard it wasn't that good, so I just stayed away.

As for the newer version, it is indeed the quintessence of cliche...but if you never watch cliches then they aren't really cliches now are they? ;-). The anime's plot unfolds like a canon which one of the characters describes as:
“. . . A type of song when the melody keeps repeating, and with each repetition the song grows more and more beautiful and vibrant as the new chords harmonize with each other. Wouldn't it be great if the progression of life was like the progression of this song? Nothing would seem to change but everything would just seem to get richer, fuller . . .”

I've not watched the original version of Kanon either, just the 2006 version. It's possible the original version is "cliche" because I've read that it actually more or less started that sort of anime adaptation niche. But, I've heard mixed reviews as to how good it was.

I found the 2006 version to be good - I gave it a 7/10. I liked Clannad a little better.

Guess, I try another one then~

Wanting to watch some good mystery anime. Preferrably one, which makes you guess and wonder about if or not supernatural things are occuring. The Manga of "A Lollypop and a Bullet" did this really good. Aside that Shiki and Another (Manga more) did such a guess play, too. In Shiki like when natsuno gets the creeps with his illusions of a scary Megumi hunting him down or in Another as in guessing whether or not Misaki is a ghost or not.
I am more after the atmophere, that comes out of hints everywhere indicating both sides, and the insecurity characters have out of that. Not so much interested in solving somewhat episodic supernatural cases in a detective style, through. (As like in Ghost Hunt.)

... through probably that is getting too special. Any other good mystery title with a bit of a creepy feeling (but not so much of a splatter-gore-screamish-the ring-like Horror) would do too, I guess.
