Comin back again for another suggestion. I want an anime with a main character thats a little girl, some type of relationship with a guy thats main character (be that he is the guardian, lover, whatever). Throw something at me. GO.

Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha - Nanoha is 8 or 9, and though they are not romantically involved she is close friends with the main male character Yuuno.

Rozen Maiden - this might be stretching it, but I think Shinku qualifies as a little girl of a sorts.

Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai 10/10

Ano Natsu de Matteru 9/10

I highly reccomend these 2 animes if you are looking for something sad. I'd say Ano hana is more sad through out while Ano Natsu is more sad at the end but both have really good characters. I reccomend Ano Hana first.

@brlyan I would say

Ano Natsu de Matteru (Similar to Clannad and Ano Hana)
Myself;yourself (Alot of drama and Romance like in Clannad After Story)
Kurogane No Linebarrel ( Starts off similar to Accel World, it has nothing to do with games but there is mecha fighting. Main character gets bullied and a girl brings him power just like in accel world. Also the same group of 3 friends, a guy considred attractive, cute girl, and the bullied nerd.)
Princess Lover (I noticed you like amagami ss and infinate stratos so i had to reccomend this)

Try Kaiba, Uchuu no Stellvia, The Legend of Black Heaven, Starship Operators, Souten Kouro, Roujin Z, Armitage III Polymatrix, Armitage III Dual-Matrix

All are under 10k people watched titles. IMO all are very good. Some are series, some are movies. You'll probably find something in here that you'll like.

I would suggest the 6 Break Blade movies. Breakblade is mainly fantasy/mecha with a very engaging plot that focuses around war. It's not too mainstream because people avoid watching it due to the fact that it's comprised of movies instead of episodes.

Some of those are fine, some IMO are not that great. If we're talking about something good and fun we should start with classics with which you can never go wrong:

Baccano!
Cowboy Bebop
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Lucky ☆ Star
Outlaw Star
Slayers

Recommend me any anime that you think is a must watch that I haven't already seen.

For example:

Madoka Magica
Cowboy Bebop
Evangelion
Code Geass
Death Note
Clannad After Story
Angel Beats
FMA
Gurren Lagann
Haruhi Suzumiya

Something like them. One of those shows that you need to watch in order to become a 'true anime fan'.

Black Lagoon
Detroit Metal City
Ergo Proxy
Eve no Jikan
Genshiken
all of Ghost in the Shell
Mars of Destruction - the worst anime in history :D
Slayers

I've got a couple that almost fit your request. The only deviation is the time. If your'e ok with that then check these out...

Tears to Tiara is set maybe 1400s...and it features polygamy. Haha, pique your interest?

Ghost Hunt is set in modern day (maybe like 7-10 years back) and is an anime about a group that takes a very logical approach to hunting ghosts...

This last one has the time, but no girls...well there are a couple, but they...haha, you'll just have to watch it...

Mouryou no Hako is set in ceca 20th century. Don't take me lightly when I say this anime will blow your mind.

That's all I've got, hopefully someone else has something that fits your request better.
Happy Hunting :-)

Greetings

Firstly this is a great idea for a thread especially for people like me who have given up on review sites (present site excepted).

Well onto the request for recommendations. I don't really have much in the way of criteria, I guess my list will give you an idea of what I like.

A few notes however that may help, usually fan-service doesn't bother me (there have been exceptions but most bad fan-service shows would have been just as bad without it).
Not a big romance fan though there have been exceptions. As for characters I tend to like the ones that most other people hate (like Ikari Shinji). Also I feel that an interesting character is more important than a likeable one.

Thanks for taking the time to read, apologies if I don't reply to any replies for a few hours but it's past 4am and I'm going to bed.

It's a retelling, and most fans prefer it over the original as it addresses many of the loose ends and also has deeper looks at the characters.

Ziggy ALWAYS add Durarara! but can't say I blame him much -it's a good show.

I watch nearly anything. The only genres I avoid are ecchi, harem and reverse harem, and horror. I'm mostly looking for action, slice of life's, comedies, mystery, and even a bit of fantasy is fair game. As long as the genres I dislike are avoided, I like mostly anything.

My favorites include: Mimi wo Sumaseba, Natsume Yuujinchou, Fairy Tail, Higashi no Eden, Dennou Coil, Samurai Champloo, Uchuu Kyoudai, Usagi Drop, Kimi to Boku, Un-Go, Sakamichi no Apollon, Kimi ni Todoke, Mawaru Penguindrum, Hanasaku Iroha.

I was wondering...are there any romance anime shows that features a blind or deaf female? If there are no romance shows that fit that description, are there any in the drama or slice of life genres? There definitely aren't a lot, at least not that I am familiar with. Here are a few anime that have characters with impairments. They are not exactly what your are looking for, but are close.

H20 Footprints in the sand - Blind male lead
Yami to Bōshi to Hon no Tabibito - one of the main female's is mute
Makasete Iruka! - One of the main, female characters in this short OVA is deaf
Nunally is blind in Code Geass
Physis, a supporting female, from Toward the Terra is female.
Yin from darker than black is blind female lead.

There are probably a few others, but these are all that came to mind/ a quick google search.

Yeah you're right, those aren't exactly what I'm looking for. I suppose H2O comes close, but the synopsis mentions that he is temporarily cured of his blindness (which might be for most of the show?). It seems there really isn't much out there (for anime at least). Thanks for the suggestions anyways though.
