| I admit Zeref was pretty cool and badass here. Though when I first read the chapter, I did have mixed feelings about how Mashima handled Zeref at first. However... -Shuda- said: Zeref is NOT a good guy, shit. He seems more like the fallen hero type. Those are always the more psycotic and ideal-crazy than your typical "I'm going to destroy/rule the world". Why can't some people accept the fact that Mashima is trying to add more depth to his final antogonist. I'd much rather see a good guy experience the horrors of life and his brain being corrupted slowly and painfully, then finally crack to become one of the craziest fucking bastards that would kill anyone in a blink of an eye. Finally when he was able to revert a little bit of sense back in himself after 400 years, the current villains were able to "AWAKEN" that memory/scar in his heart that brings him back to his crazy bastard stage. After reading your comment, it really changed my mind about Zeref. I actually think Zeref would be a lot more interesting as described above ^ than a typical cliche evil villain. So I'm actually going to put more faith in Mashima in knowing how to handle Zeref and the rest of the story. I think I was initially thrown off by this chapter because of the hype around Zeref being the most evil guy in history (even though there were hints that Zeref is not as typically bad as everyone else thought). And I really thought Zeref was going to awaken in this chapter when all along he never was asleep. Which is an interesting twist. I definitely would like to see the past events that led to people labeling Zeref as someone so evil. Or basically Zeref's past in general so that we can understand everything that was going on before...including the reason why his powers are so cursed. Oh yeah...I recommend people to read the translation version of FT on mangafox rather than mangareader because the translation in the latter wasn't that good...and got me really confused about what Zeref was saying (to Grimoire Heart) at first. Finally, I think it's harder to appreciate how Mashima is handling the story at first because we're only reading one chapter at a time weekly. From my experiences with reading manga, I find that it's easier to feel the flow of the plot/story come and go as you read a lot of chapters at once. It's easier to remember what's going on and analyze things if you re-read the past chapters of at least the current arc too. This is probably what I'm going to do: After reading this chapter, I'll probably put the next few chapters of FT (and other ongoing mangas) on hold to read. Probably will wait until at least Columbus Day weekend. That way, I'll get to read few chapters at once...and also hopefully lessen the amt. of things distracting from my inevitable humongous load of collegework... p.s. The scene with Ultear and Meredy was sort of..awkward for me imo oO p.p.s. I also agree with few others that Acnologia could possibly be related to the black dragon. |

| Ok so Zeref was a bad guy that didn't care about human lives until an incident made him change his attitude(i wonder if it has anything to do with Natsu considering he was calling his name). But because of that he suddenly got that cursed thing that kills anyone that gets close to him and lost his big magic power. So he confined himself in that iland so he can be away from people and not kill them with that curse. He can only use his full power when he doesn't care about human life and when his like that, the death curse that goes with him disappears. He got so angry with Hades that he didn't care about killing him and taking his life. Therefore he could use all his power in killing him and enter that room without that death curse thing working. So basically his a good guy with the danger of becoming a dangerous bad guy. At least that's what i got from his words. I'm i right? |
| Zeref the killer! >:D Juvia crawling for is funny and yet creepy :D I still hate her though and even more after her wanting Gray to.. khm.. yeah :@ I hope Laxus will join again with the Fairies :3 And Ultear trying to kill herself... tottaly unexpected :O |

| I guess there are so many pro and cons about this chapter. Yeah, it's anti-climatic but it's okay. I mean, you can't really conclude that Zeref is not in opposing forces between Natsu and Fairy Tail right? Yeah, I confused. Could it possibly be that Acnologia is the black dragon that Gildarts tried to kill? |
