great episode, after the cliffhanger of an ending from the last episode i thought the people from the outside were being turned into food for the people in the inside *_* they never did explain why there were so many dead bodies ?? (did i miss that?)

LOL omg food? That would be even creepier o.o Somehow, I think I saw something like that somewhere :S
Dead bodies...well they could already be there, before...I guess o.o

anyway, one more episode, so much loose ends to tie up. anyone thinks safu kills nezumi?

Geez, hope she doesn't do that...*knocks on wood*

Your post disturbed me xP

that's kind of sad.

yeah, I noticed that too u.u

On SafuxShionxNezumi triangle (xP) ...Shion and Nezumi love each other, Safu loves Shion, as simple as that. ...I'm afraid of what Safu may do, since she's possessed or something by Elyurias. What's Elyurias objective anyway?...no idea.

@whitetear I like your theories but they're confusing me...

New theory:

This isn't based on any kind of spoilers; I'm only following the novel/manga online, which are far behind the anime.

I think maybe Elyurias is using Safu AND Sion to get to Nezumi (last of the forest people). But I don't know what her goal is or what she'll do with any of the three of them once she has him near her. I wonder if it's Nezumi or Safurias who's going to sing the song next week, hmmm?

Safurias -> LOL
They'll sing together XD
But if Nezumi is from the same place as Elyurias, then...and if he knows her song, then why does she get to Shion and Safu first to "catch" him next...and what for?

Intense episode don't know how they will finish it in one episode but guess we will see, and I made a mistake of looking at that spoiler but I already knew some of it so guess I know how now too.

Sion will never be with Safu but let the ones who want to ignore the shonen ai label on this anime have their dream.

Sion is obsessively inlove Nezumi and that goes both ways, Nezumi was so pitiful in this episode and seems anger causes Sion to black out but only when he fears losing Nezumi or someone hurts Nezumi.

I think she used them to get Nez near her. When he fainted, Ely talked about teaching him the song, and the same day he fainted at the play was the same day (in the anime) that Sion had an "episode". That first blanked-out, "soulless" episode of Sion's was directly related to his fear that Nezumi would die from a parasite bee. So Sion is there to care for Nezumi, and Safu is there to draw Sion, who will bring along Nezumi. That's as far as my theory goes, though. I don't know what Ely wants, once she gets Nez near her, except to sing the song she taught him...

Nice catch! I didn't notice that before. It's grandma's needles. That is quite sad. :(

This episode was disappointing to me. Not that anything was particularly wrong with it, it just feels like the pacing is a bit rushed and we are expected to feel a whole barrage of emotions in the span of a couple minutes. This is because the show ends next week which I'm also upset about and they are skipping around and leaving stuff out! Despite all that, this has been one of my favorite series in a long, long time. Good quality anime such as this is so hard to find nowadays with all the attention to ecchi and flat, cliche characters. It is a real shame that people dropped this show in the beginning because of a little BL and they missed out on it. I really hope they do a season two however since it was created by BONES I highly doubt it.

I really liked Nezumi's breakdown at the end. It is so rare that you get to see a vulnerable side from him. I also think Sion just faded out when he shot that guy much like soldiers do in war. He wasn't being controlled or anything it was just his need to protect Nezumi that overrode everything else.

As always can't wait for next week....it's going to be good!

That was a lot darker and bloodier than I was expecting. (Though, why did they dump all the people in that pit to kill them? Wouldn't it have been easier to kill them in the town than to haul them to the prison? Or was that just a plot device to get Nezumi and Sion into the city? >_- )

The baby was cute.

I'm gonna bet that Safu has turned evil and will do something BAAAD.

@Nezumi: It's your fault Sion turned out this way. You were a bad parent and brought him up wrong!

Now that there's only one episode left, I'm really depressed.

I'm really hoping that Nezumi has some kind of happy ending even if no one else does because at this point, the guy deserves it.

Also, I'm thinking Inukashi is a guy. My logic is... all those scenes with the baby were a perfect moment for what's-his-name to be like "Well you're a woman, you take care of the baby" or something like that, but any mention of Inukashi's gender was strictly avoided. But then again, sometimes it looks like he/she has cleavage, so.... IDEK.

I really don't mean to offend anybody, but I don't like Safu, so I'm hoping she just disappears or something. I'm gonna admit that its mostly cause I feel like she's getting in between them, without really been there, which is annoying as hell.

That baby was sooooo cute!!!! Although I didn't expect him to actually drink milk from the dog, now that was a bit surprising.

Shion shooting that guy was also unexpected. I was really hoping he wouldn't and seeing Nezumi cry was heartbreaking.

I really hope this all ends well for Nezumi and Shion. And the next episode is the last : (

My opinion, it's a girl, I have 2 arguments:
1. The baby called Inukashi "Mama".
2. The episode when Inukashi's neck is licked, Sion said after touching "her" back: "You're a..." probably he would say "girl".

But hey, it's just a opinion, nothing really says if it is or not a girl.

Wow that episode went by REALLY quickly.

Nice catch with the needle, I was wondering what that was, that's rather depressing.

And Sion looking badass was ridiculously attractive.
Though sad. But I am glad that Sion is growing up, at least a little.

And the line t the end... ahh I can't believe it's ending.

The manga shows more detail then the anime but it is so far behind and they seem slow at releasing chapters hope it makes up for what the anime left out, I hope they can do this justice in only one more episode.

Nezumi was heartbreaking in this episode but Sion will kill anyone when it comes to Nezumi I believe not the first time, he almost choked the guy to death for asking Nezumi to be a prostitute so yeah I expected he would do much worse if someone actually hurt Nezumi.

Oh and Safu does not stand a chance and never had one ;)

If you tried to climb a mountain of corpses, wouldn't it be a bit difficult since corpses... you know...rot? That would be really messy and disgusting and smelly and Shion should have thrown up a hell of alot more and...I just keep imagining Shion stepping through someone's stomach... urgh, I feel sick...

I think this was just a plot device btw, because it seems illogical to capture them alive them dump them and leave them to die. They should have just killed them all from the start. But that would be too humane... They're just sadistic that way I guess.

Anyways, back to my main point. It seems that in this episode, Nezumi has stepped into Sion's shoes with the whole empathy thing about the murder of that guard person. I mean, Nezumi's reaction was a classic reaction to what Sion would have done had he been himself. Oh, and I don't think Sion really shot the guy. I think the Elyurias chick/robot/A.I./whatever did it, possessing Sion to make him do it.

Nope, that was all Shion. He got that blank look in his eyes back when he saved the baby. He seems dissociative. The guy's already a bit unbalanced and seeing the corpses and Nezumi getting shot sent him over the edge. Also, Shion displayed violent tendencies on Nezumi's behalf when he choked Rikiga. And I don't think Nezumi was being empathetic toward the guard, it's just that he was terrified of losing Shion, as the Shion he knew would never kill someone.

Also, it shocked me that Nezumi seems to have completely abandoned his plan to get revenge on No. 6. And it's not because he doesn't hate them anymore-- it's because he wants to protect Sion from violence and from seeing him do unnecessary violence.... yet look what happened anyway. T_T

Inukashi, still not sure if he/she is a boy or girl, and the ojisan surprising at the baby in Shion's coat... and Inukashi as mama?

Piles of dead? people... and they have to climb up.

The little girl is helping Karan out.

Eh~?! Safu = that forest girl!!

After getting through the cleaning lab room, it seems like Shion knows the way? And changed when Nezumi was hurt.

And Safu's completely different.

-Mountain of dead bodies, how come some them are alive and not doing any thing about? just sitting there make things worse for them. I mean yeah the smell could kill them, but they land on dead body not the flood.

- Holy crap Shion O.o what have you become???? and I thought Nezumi was the lead.

-Seeing Nezumi break down and cries out Shion's name, was something really new to me, and yet very touching and painful OH GOD T^T

-I felt bad for Safu, all she want to see is Shion and yet Elyurias is possessing her. What about her wish? ;___; Will Elyurias let Safu see Shion?

-I....I.. don't want No.6 to end next week. I don't want to have sad feeling in my heart D;

That way Shion and Nezumi would have been together happy now!(maybe :/ )...Agh, can't wait for the next episode but i don't know why but the idea of Nezumi actually getting killed for shion is stuck on my head T_T

We'd probably need to read the books to (hopefully) find out, but don't forget he didn't escape from the CF. He escaped when they were transporting him to City Hall/Moondrop. Probably to meet a certain guy from No. 6 who is in the books but not in the anime.

I think the correctional facility is meant to make them look more humane than they actually are. Also, I happen to know that some of the dead are used for their creepy research experiments. In the books (and I think really briefly in maybe ep 4 or 5 of the anime after some woman gets killed by a parasite bee), they talk about needing a certain number of "dead samples" before they get to the "living samples." Actually in the book,

Yeah, it would be very gross. I think it's probably more graphic in the book.

I think this was just a plot device btw, because it seems illogical to capture them alive them dump them and leave them to die. They should have just killed them all from the start. But that would be too humane... They're just sadistic that way I guess.
Like I said above, I think it's partly an image thing, and partly a cover for unethical research.

Yup, that's what I thought right before the baby. I literally thought "What? Is he having a dissociative episode or is something else happening?" The baby seems to call him back and give him a reason to be "human" again.

lol, I totally forgot about Nezumi's revenge. I guess that's what he was talking about when he said he had "fallen"?
Yeah, it's easy to forget isn't it? xD

But I'm positive that when he says I've fallen ("ore ha oroshita," I think it was in Japanese), he was talking about his standing in Sion's eyes-- his importance as compared to Safu's. Because he said that immediately after he learned Sion was somehow hearing Safu's voice calling him. I see it as the starting point of his heart getting broken over and over. It's not only that Sion's becoming so different-- it's because he feared even before they went there that Safu meant more to Sion for him and that if she ever asked, Sion would leave him forever to be with her. It only became clear to me at that point that in retrospect, this is why he looked so happy when Sion first started talking about living with him during the summer in ep 9. Also, when he asked Sion about having sex with Safu in ep 7 (right before the kiss), at first I thought he was just testing Sion by giving him a chance to come clean. But now it seems that a large part of it was also that he honestly thought Sion would leave him behind for Safu because she's more important to him. It seems Nezumi, at least in the anime, doesn't feel like he has the right to fight back and keep Sion to himself, even though Sion himself has literally confessed his love to Nezumi multiple times.

I hate to say it but I see an extremely tragic ending in the works here. I don't know what really happens in the very end of the books but from what I've seen I'm sure it can't be good, and I can tell that though they've changed a lot, they're definitely trying to stay in the same spirit of the original material...

Why can't people in these sorts of stories have a happy ending now and then? T_T

*edit* Actually Nezumi didn't say "ore ha oroshita" (which did sound odd, I admit). I had another listen and what he said was "Ore ha orochiteiru kamo..." Which isn't as much "I have fallen" as "I (think I) am falling." So I think my interpretation was right. He's starting to feeling abandoned there.

Hum, I thought he was referring to the fact that he cares so much for Shion that he prioritizes him and forgets of his own objectives (as SilverDemon (I think) said)...or that he feels Shion changed and he won't be able to protect him, also realising how important he his to him (a new other level of importance, the supreme love :P).
...abandoned? o.o Isn't he the loner type? Well, he was, not anymore >.<
Anyway, I wouldn't say it has anything to do with Safu...He never ever seemed to feel threatened by her existence or smth, and when her desperate situation came up, he actually decided to save her for Shion's sake...Well that's how I see it...

@a-lot-of-people-here: And this leads to one thing I need to say again but way clearly: I don't think the three of them will discuss who'll marry Shion there, iygwIm...So give Safu a rest, it's not like she's going to grab Shion's arm, then Nezumi grabs the other, and push, push, there you go, half Shion for you, half for me >.> It's not like I support Safu. Just saying...
Come on, Shion's crazy about Nezumi...you saw that, I saw that, Nezumi saw that...(oh and the last part- "it's not your fault"- was so cute *-* Just remembered I hadn't mentioned that yet :P)

Agreeing with a lot of people, I also think this will be sad/tragic, something along those lines...I'd rather not, but I may actually like it that way...we'll see.

Which isn't as much "I have fallen" as "I (think I) am falling." So I think my interpretation was right. He's starting to feeling abandoned there.

somehow..i was teary eyed..reading your interpretation..i agree at some parts..you really have a point..

but i love nezumi..i dont want him to be abandoned.. T__T..and not by sion..but just as you sad..the look on sion's eyes..it's obvious..

grr..safu i hate you T_T

hope the ending will favor NEZUMI !!!
Oh don't worry. Sion's never thought of her that way and he clearly (to us; not to Nezumi) still doesn't. In fact I think when Sion went to comfort Nezumi, Nezumi's confidence also began to return. But Nezumi still looks so innocent and childlike in that elevator at the end, with his mouth slightly open... I was so amazed by the look on his face during the ride up. It's like he's returned to innocence and is depending on Sion now. :'(

If you mean the person who said Nezumi forgot about his revenge a page or two ago, that was me. You agree Nezumi is jealous of Safu during this ep at least? He thinks to himself "Why are you smiling, Sion?" when Sion says he can hear her voice clearly and is running up the stairs. It's just my interpretation but I really wondered why Nezumi looked so surprised (and ridiculously happy) in episode 9 when Sion was talking about continuing to live with him after this was all over. That made me think back as well to just before their kiss, when he asked about sex with Safu. He may not have realised he was doing it himself, but it's a classic move to ask the person you secretly love about his/her feelings for a romantic rival. That line seemed really odd to me at the time because look at what he's saying. He talks about Sion knocking down the wall and seeing his mom and Safu as if it were a plausible thing, when just a day ago he was laughing at Sion over it and saying the result would be "hell" and that one side has to destroy the other. Now he already knows from Sion turning his head away to lie about seeing them that he isn't going to come out with the truth. But then *after* that, he asks if Sion would be willing to have sex with her? I still say Nezumi is physically attracted to Sion (on top of their deep emotional connection)... and jealous.

Come on, Shion's crazy about Nezumi...you saw that, I saw that, Nezumi saw that...(oh and the last part- "it's not your fault"- was so cute *-* Just remembered I hadn't mentioned that yet :P)
lolz! You got that right. Even Safu having goddess powers won't stop Sion from loving Nezumi. In fact I suspect the dead bodies lying all around her might be putting the two of them off. I can just imagine the boys thinking "WTF? Did she even need to be rescued?" lol... The only thing I resent about Safu is her "What Sion wants doesn't matter" line. Creepy! And yeah the "It's not your fault" was adorable. I get the impression that it restored much of Nezumi's faith in Sion to stay by his side as well.

As for why I think Nezumi's "I am falling" was his concern that Sion was going to abandon him, the "Ore wa orochiteiru no kamo..." gave me a sinking feeling when I first heard it in the ep, because of the context. I mean look at it-- Sion says he hears a voice. Nez asks if it's the people moaning below, and Sion responds no, it's Safu, calling him. Immediately Nez has a flashback about Sion's creepy neck-grabbing moment (which was also Sion's most heartfelt love confession) after they danced in ep 5, and says this mysterious line. This sets up his two fears of Sion changing and of Sion abandoning him (timing!). Remember also that Nezumi is a fan of the classics, which are full of romantic tales. It's already a very romantic thing Sion is doing to go rescue Safu like that. And it's clearly the most dangerous thing any of them has done yet and still Sion was willing to leave Nezumi behind (ep 7) in order to go off to die for her. That's gotta hurt. And it did in the book; Nezumi was up at night crying for the first time in years. Some "loner" he turned out to be. When Sion saved Nezumi's life he wasn't putting himself in so much danger, really (at first, anyway). But Nez did put himself in very serious danger when the time came to save Sion. And he had even been watching over Sion like a guardian angel for years because he knew that day would eventually come. Of course he doesn't know Sion was sighing and longing for him whenever it rained, all those 4 years.

But if it's a matter of Nezumi's priorities changing leads him to say "I am falling," I'd find it odd that there are no references whatsoever to his plan to end No. 6.

It was exciting. Dogkeeper with the baby was cute!

Why can I see Nezumi sacrificing himself in the final episode so Sion and Safu can live happily ever after? haha.

Sion and Rat will be together i hope :)

lol... yeah I am. I totally admit it. It's a great series to talk about and it's going to be one of my favourites assuming next week's episode isn't a total disaster.

@ whitetear You're interpretation made me sad. T_T Cuz even if that isn't what he meant when saying that (and both make sense) he probably still feels that way. Though after the insane shooting-the-guard moment, I don't think it's really possible that Sion would choose Safu over Nezumi. But this is also scary because that goddess is manipulating Safu based on her desires, so if she wants Sion all to herself, she may do something to take nezumi out of the picture (she did kill those guards, so she's capable) and then Shion would lose his shit and retaliate against Safu and then Shion would kill himself because the two people he loved most are dead so all three could end up dying. O_o
Of course this probably won't happen, but it is plausible I guess.

And about the smiling. That scene was alot different in the novel, where

Also, in the novel

@SilverDemon: Actually I've read both of those scenes too. I was saying just yesterday how those scenes shocked and disturbed me as well. I'm pretty sure my jaw was dropped the whole way through. I kept telling myself to stop because it's like spoilers for the book but I couldn't stop. lol... I still can't believe how different it was. So yeah, my interpretation above is obviously based on anime content mostly. And maybe a little book content for earlier episodes where they seem to overlap the books more.

@All: My interpretation may sound sad but I'm positive this is all just building tension and making us viewers anxious. I think that no matter how tragic the ending is otherwise, Nezumi will understand very well by the end that he's the most important person in the world to Sion. And I bet in return he will probably go the most deredere we've ever seen. lol...

*edit* btw I did realise why Nezumi is so surprised in ep 9 when Sion talks about being there in the summer. Until then, Sion was saying before that he would leave in the spring to go back to No. 6 with his blood serum to stop the bee menace. (As if!) So now I know both why Nezumi was surprised to hear Sion wanted to stay, and why Nezumi has the biggest smile ever at the same time. ;)

one of the best episode, so many actions packed! I was sad seeing Nezumi realized Shion's gradually changing until to the point Shion killed that man, oh my.. that was so heartbreaking to see Nezumi cried that much!

I love Nezumi as much as Shion love him, I hate the man who shoot Nezumi TWICE!!, so when Shion shoot him at first, I was happy that yes, Shion channeled my anger, but then I got a bit scary looking Shion expressionless face..despite Nezumi calls, Shion didn't faltered and pulled the trigger...i'm speechless... looks like he loves Shion much more than me...

sad it's next week, last episode :(

still waiting for my thoughts to settle about the shion/nezumi scenes. LOL way too invested in those two. so for now, here are some other points of interest:

Where did Nezumi hide the hook/ropes/baton of smoky doom? Does he have the male equivalent of cleavage hammerspace somewhere in that coat?

B'AWWWW GRANDMA B'AWWWW

I feel so terribe for Safu right now, that thing with the soulless eyes and and sinister smirk is NOT MY SAFU B'AAAAAAWW. (ಥ Д ಥ) (To the novel readers: what are the chances of BONES making an anime-original ending/Elyurias subplot? Because that's not how the Safurias encounter started in the novels, plus they've been doing anime-original stuff with her from the start. And they've started production before the last book was published.)

ps: was i the only one that went "lol leaf village ninjas" when we first saw the guards? seriously, one of them even looked like shikamaru's unfortunate parallel world clone.

You have a point. He did question Shion about "Safu issue". It's just that jelousy is a strong word...One thing is for sure, Nezumi gets more and more attracted to Shion, and changes. He changed even more than Shion.

Baf I got confused on who said what :s *five seconds passing here->>zoing->>) hum, I remembered, I got it, I was referring to the interpretation of that specific line from Nezumi (he thinks he's falling or something. My bad for not quoting it.), but anyway, I concluded it referred to his feelings, the way he does things, or simpler...Shion has more influence on him than the opposite, realising he hasn't enough power to prevent him from changing ...

Yeah now Safu's all powerful...and they had all that work to get there!
That line from Safu is egoism. It doesn't make a difference to me. I really doesn't bother me if someone sometimes prioritize themselves and assumes its own desires, but I'm sure she didn't want to force him to love her or smth...though, after everything she went through and with Elyurias messing with her, I'm afraid she's mentally unstable o.o

Whoa whoa whoa such a violent little boy.

What bothers me is that the "rain" from the ceiling sprinklers didn't wash away the blood... didn't even dilute it at all >___>

And then there's so little chance of only the two of them surviving the human trash dump... what are the odds of all of those other people in the pile not even moving even when they were being climbed on, and only Nezumi/Sion landing oh so safely at the bottom?

That aside it was still pretty cool :D like what everyone says, it was interesting to see Nezumi a little scared once they entered the clean part of the building.. and then crying at the end? LOL

Wow, this episode leaves me speechless. I mean, Nezumi getting shot is like : O.o NOOOOO~

But the crying Nezumi was a nice touch. C:

I am agreeing to this completely. I was worried Nezumi was actually going to die here or possibly Sion's capture or something, but I guess Sion wouldn't make it to the end unless Nezumi was actually there to help. And it did seem like Elyurias was controlling him (Safu did say she wanted Sion and that spirit did say she'd grant her desire) to get Sion closer to Safu. I am feeling worried about her behavior- would she make Nezumi disappear or something to be with Sion? I don't like this all powerful being and how Nezumi is connected to her too...

That episode was so emotionally charged, and that switch in character was pretty terrifying- but it always seems like Sion can do no wrong, especially in Nezumi's eyes. Why are these two so ... jdlslajdksa??

It'll be interesting to see how this last episode goes.

I'm just waaaay too eager to see the next episode. Nezumi broke my heart when he started to cry and how badly I was screaming when he was shot. The change in demeanor scared me as well, but Sion was what scared me the most.

It does show in this episode, that Sion is truly strong on the inside and although Nezumi is incredibly strong on the outside, he is fragile on the inside. The two match each other; living for each other in perfect harmony, no matter what they must overcome. I really don't want this anime to end.
