I HATE THE SPOILER BUTTON :<<<
I just re-watched the first episode and realized it was Okabe that shouted. hmmm
Good episode though but I wonder if it's gonna wrap all up in the next few episodes.

The fact that Mayuri had dreams about the previous world lines means (to me) that Okabe is even more important to the universe than just the "observer" who has the "Magic Eye: Reading Steiner". Has anyone here seen Baccano? Basically Okabe is like what Claire Stanfield from that show believes himself to be.

Ive been holding this question for a while now but I suppose its still not the right time to ask... :(

For the mean time, I wonder how will Okarin pull this off. I sense some sacrifice aura from Kurisu. She might still want Okarin to save Mayushii even though she will die. I hope there will be some other way. I want to see a paradox once in a while XDD

All I know is that I don't want Kurisu to die, and if she does, I have no idea if I'll feel the same way about the anime, since she's by far my favorite character.
I am a sucker for romance!!!!

I second this

I feel so bad about what's happening right now (already knew things where coming this way but still...) I really really want Okarin to save Kurisu but still want to save Mayuri!!! such a hard choice T_T I hope somehow he manages to save them both.

Heh, the Rail Tracer... ";..;"

Claire thinks that he's the centre of the world.

Okabe shares some qualities with Claire when he puts on his mad scientist persona, but after he tried playing god and paid its price, he has been reduced to his true self. He can hardly make any decision on his own now. Okabe lacks the confidence of Claire.

With Okabe stuck in his current position, it seems that Kurisu will pull the trigger herself.

It's a heartrending story. Okarin's dilema is totally understandable. Which person should he save? Kurisu or Mayuri? He tries to think the way to save both, yet it's not easy to. That difficult conditions for Okarin and Kurisu got me so emotional.

I really liked the music is used in this week's ep. I mean really. It played a decent role as an emotional bridge to me. It was epic.

I love this episode.

This is the dilemma of Visual Novel adaptation. To make sure all of the emotion strings pulled, Visual Novel gives you excellent script and music, but in Anime, it takes a lot of precious time.

That's why, I could see many opinions will differ in this episode. Those who wait for sci-fi thriller, they won't be so excited with emotional-building episode. But for me, who likes VN so much as a medium, this is what differ Steins;Gate with other sci-fi anime. No other sci-fi anime will have you tears, depression and emotions in the same time. That said, I give this episode 10/10, if can't more. A perfect buildup for the upcoming finale.

The only problem is, we are running out of time. I hope they could get a special episode with longer duration :(

... Agh, MAL deleted my comment!

Awesome episode, anyway. Sad but awesome. Okarin needs to watch Kurisu, I'm afraid she'll destroy the Time Leap machine or kill herself to force him to choose Mayushii over her. I'm hoping for some brilliant way to cheat causality and fate and save both, but I have a sinking feeling the opposite could occur, with both girls dying.

Nice, I know what ending they'll choose for the anime now thanks to that PV. Good decision on the studio's part IMO.

However, I'm a little concerned with te ending of the anime series...

With just three episodes left, I don't think they'll animate chapter 11 of the VN. I would be really disappointed if they don't but with the pacing so far it seems that it's likely to be the case. I don't think that will satisfy the anime viewers though...

Actually, scratch that. I'm definitely sure the anime viewers will not be satisfied if chapter 11 doesn't get animated. And what sucks is that they won't truly appreciate how good Steins;Gate is because of the anime adaptation. If only they stretched it out in a span of like 30 episodes...

The plot came to a stop, but I don't really mind it, I love the characters and their interaction. It is also building up nicely. Poor Okabe, he was ready to die to alter the course of events, reckless, but completely understandable. Three more episodes to go and I can hardly wait. I'm expecting a bittersweet ending, though I'm still hoping for a happy one. Time will tell, 5/5.

1. It's fairly obvious it is her they obscured her face to keep everyone (well some people) guessing, she was still probably looking for her father and stopped in 2010 (possibly also for her mission (see 2)) before heading to the year 2000.
2. At no point did the anime ever state that she didn't have a grudge against Kurisu in Beta. In fact I still believe that she killed her and that Kurisu is a future leader of SERN in the worldline. As I've mentioned before, I don't believe that Beta is the dystopian-free paradise that we've been led to believe it is, but we won't really know until the very end. Keep in mind that our only view of Beta at all ever was the first few minutes of episode one. After that we've been in Alpha and nearing Omega until the dmail reversal started recently. :p

this episode was a really emotional, especially the scene where mayuri died, even though we've seen it ALOT i think that this was the most depressing scenes of her 'deaths'
The ending also seems very thrillerish, with makise goind/doing something which i think is bad...

The most emotional Mayuri death so far and then her talking about everything she has dreamt of. I really hope Kurisu won't go and try to change the world line on her own, but it doesn't look good in the end!

ROFL... everyone says the ep was tragic and emotional, though I feel uneasy how they'll give us a proper ending with only 3 eps left. Yeah, the ep was great as always due to its exceptional flashbacks with Mayuri and Okabe, but I really hope they don't screw this up with a rushed ending.

If Kurisu worked for SERN she could build working time machine for them for not killing Mayuri and others. Then Okabe will create resistance movement, Daru will make Suzuha and story go back to the beginning. THE END - "Endless 8".

So if Mayushii remembers her deaths as dreams, why did she tell her granny that they have a lot of new members in lab? If they undid the d-mails, Feyris, Moeka and Rukako shouldn't be lab members and Suzuha died a long time ago so she shouldn't either. But Mayushii clearly said they got a lot of new members lately.

We've seen this happen before with Moeka. She was still a Lab Member even though she had no reason to be there according to what we knew. We initially saw her become a lab member in order to see the IBN, but even when it went missing after sending a D-mail she was still a lab member based on what Mayuri said back then.

The simplest explanation would be that Ruka, Moeka, Feyris, and Suzuha still ended up being lab members. The events that lead to them joining may not be the same as the events when we first saw them join...bu they still end up being lab members, nonetheless.

How do you know Suzuha died a long time ago? For one, it could have been that she just left after not being able to find her dad at the offline-meeting (like she mentioned before). That would mean she was still known at the time, but of course, she had to part ways.

Besides, even if Suzuha died a long time ago, that was after she used her time leap machine. She was still known and was a lab member at this point (well, maybe everyone except Moeka).

Kurisi is destined to die at beta at that time.If Suzuha manage to kill her in the beta line, Okarin's reading Steiner should activate. It is illogical for Suzuha to hate Kurisi in beta worldline.Suzuha maybe just come to find his dad.

A few points to expand upon:
  • For one someone mentioned it but I want to include tot hat pic a GIF showing its other sequence in the spoiler
Now that is supposed to show the innocence of Makise/Mayuri through their naked colorless forms. That is a most amazing art form depiction. If you studied art, you should know this is like the basics in it. Colorless sketches like that since it represents the simplest forms and as such the innocence of Mayuri/Makise is well shown that way.

  • I am assuming Makise changing World Lines by herself has to do with her investigation of her own death and that red line with numbers in the spoiler
Well I don’t know what the anime is trying to get to but if Makise has some powers like the Reading Steiner then things could change too much but IMO they should make Mayuri save the day. Okabe was just frustrating during this episode. Like I was yelling out GET REAL OKABE AND GET TO THE POINT! Seriously that ticked me off.

  • I find Makise’s facial reactions to what Okabe told her in the spoiler
to be not effective in conveying emotions. I don’t want to piss off Makise fans but she really should have had tears at the very least, at the very least! Indeed Makise failed to make me cry while Mayuri did a splendid job at that. Mayuri is therefore »»»»» Makise and yes I am surprised some people got affected by Makise’s reaction but none the less she had very deep emotional distress inside of her. I can kind of think like the storm shredding around all inside of something. Sadly that was the wrong way to work on me. Too bad on that one.

  • Those were quite some daring ecchi references in the spoiler
like the cosplay stuff and poor Makise finding out some eros games or anime/porn? Well poor her but I did like seeing her with that uppa. Those anime mangas, that amazing itasha car and quite a daring advertising, of ecchi? Well there were all great anime stuff added randomly.

  • Okabe’s face was totally WTF in the spoiler
he looked really strange shown like that and I can’t believe how stupid
can Okabe be by thinking of killing himself will solve sweet fuck all.
It never does anything but make people around sad so stupid Okabe was not being smart this time and oh WTF that Mayuri went to save Okabe, that was most unexpected at that time.
That’s it for now, now let’s talk around what you think about these points.

Hence why that was a very stupid move of him but judging by his mental state it was inevitable to say the least.

I should have mentioned this but IMO this is all some revenge from the God of Saturn whom the planet itself is constantly reminded to us by that calendar. That God got pissed off from Okabe playing around with time/space whom that God I assume totally feels that he/she should only be able to play around with that. Hence Mayuri's curse, which by the way the God of Saturn is believed to master around too as a element. Hence the curse on Mayuri, whom is precious to Okabe and that justifies why as a reason.

BTW God can use other humans as means to execute their vengeance so the whole SERN dilemma can stem from this. This largely assuming and perhaps religious exaggerating but then again it may not be far off that it could be possible aside from that have we been shown.

Just another though that occurred to me and no one though about it TBH.
