| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Great episode. It had the kind of elements i look for in anime. If only that alien dressed in red could shut up and stop talking about how great she is. I would have taken that rice bag and hit her;plus NieA, she doen't know how hard it is to get money. |
| This episode added more layers to the characters, and was better than the first three. Though, I'm not sure I care for NieA, since it's not complete ignorance on her part. Even though she might not know the full weight of someone taking care and spending money on you, she definitely knows it gets people upset for her taking advantage of others for food. |

| Mayuko sounded pretty concerned about her mum when she was on the phone. I'm glad someone told Karna off. She's a bitch. Genzo reminds me of Doumeki from xxxHolic. That stoic character, I guess. |

| NieA being extremely gluttonous, obnoxiously loud and lack of self-awareness about her actions render her as annoying and the least likeable character for me, at least so far. Mayuko, in contrast to her, however, is endearing one. Whereby she single-handedly uplifted the overall mood of the episode. I just like the portrayal of her character at facing her hardships in life, which I think really believable. Also with how she deals with her poverty, how she, even when she is living from hand to mouth at the moment, is still considerate towards people in her surrounding. This was interesting episode overall. If just it was not ruined by NieA's tantrums over food most of the time. I get that it was purposely added to provide comedic situations but again, most of the times, they just felt rather flat for me and only disturbed what should have been a well-established mood. But I am still looking forward to the next episode. Who knows perhaps NieA could offer something different over the course of the series and get the unexpected development. Moreover, I am also still curious about what "under 7" truly means, and why she is the only one who does not have antennae unlike the rest of the aliens, and I presume there is a connection between it with the mother ship. |
