Damn, another case of Nokkers making trouble, this time related to Mizuha's mother, Izumi. This episode tested Fushi on an emotional level as he's faced with the threat.

We do get some interesting background story about Izumi, Mizuha, and their family connections. Felt like Mizuha is among the most prominent character this season so it was great to know more about her.

Fairs, we all owe Izumi an apology for being so harsh on her because holy shit anyone growing up in that environment would have a few screws loose. If anything, she did an outstanding job with Mizuha considering what her parents put her thru. That flashback made me sick to my stomach, her parents didn’t even view her as a human being, just someone to carry on the Guardians mission.

When the dad came up to her with an arranged fiancé at her mom’s FUNERAL, I got so annoyed. Then the husband hiding that he was in the guardians??? Is that not rapey?? Like withholding such important facts about yourself means she didn’t properly consent to that relationship. She was done bold and failed by so many people in her life.

Then her own body failed on her as the Nokker was taking it over. I can’t blame her at all for being done with life, just saying fuck everything and walking out of that restaurant. The way she cooked Fushi “you don’t even have it in you” is frying me too 😭 I think I’d have hesitated to kill Izumi’s Nokker as well given how emotionally attached Mizuha is! I think that just shows how kind Fushi is.

I feel like the dad has to know that’s not really Izumi then and he just doesn’t care because all this allows the guardians to accomplish their mission. Awful, great episode tho and I can’t wait for the next one.

Look like the Nokker cult is as strong as ever. I kinda understand since that one Nokker in the past that choose to sacrifice itself to save the world is heroic, but other Nokkers are not. But then again, I lack the evidence to proof that, so I'll leave it to Fushi and his club to investigate this matter.

Was a great episode with Izumi's backstory and her comments about Mizuha lastest scenes.

Yuki existence need to payoff big huge time. Such bothersome.
Look how nice is the Black Robe kid is, just quiet doing his exercises, eating, being there for the ride.

Damn a lot of nice lore on this episode. Probably it was said before but I like that we confirmed that Nokkers are just some sort of foreign entity that is trying to release humans from suffering but they are NOT human souls. I was a little confused since they both live in paradise, so I really thought it was humans that just wanted to go down and help people die and enjoy paradise faster or something. In fact when we meet Mizuha's Nokker I was petrified, I thought Hayase became a Nokker and was planning all of this (which in my defense makes sense, I still don't get why Kahaku's Nokker would serve as a leader).

I guess if you think about it, there's only a few episodes where Fushi is learning what being human is without any problems, but as soon as he is able to speak Nokkers should up and they've been a problem ever since (sure the guardians and that one religion also opposed him but meh). I'm really curious how they'll deal with the Nokkers in this era...like I doubt we'll have another time skip, I'm really intrigued about the future of the show once Fushi is able to solve this arc. I'm guessing his ascend to godhood would be next?

The nokker inside Izumi really knows how to put on a play. What an unbelievable acting that was !
But since Mizuha already decided to coexist with Nokkers, there's nothing to do about it.
After knowing about Izumi's past..what a tragedy that befell her !! Poor woman 💔💔
Losing her mom who I felt was at least a sane person of her family, a manipulative sanctimonious piece of shit father who decided to marry her off to an asshole, escaping such a life only to end up with a lying husband. The husband seems to be okay but he shouldn't have lied to her. We thought that Izumi was taking pictures of Mizuha's achievements to brag on social media but it turns out she was just trying to keep track of things 'cause a nokker was fucking with her brain..😭😭

It felt like the husband isn't pleased with this new wife and daughter but has no other option lol

Mizuha embracing her Nokker and kissing it 🤮🤮
She's a lost cause now.

I don't get what you mean. Kahaku's Nokker was Hayase's Nokker and it's running things until now.

So why are nokkers bad again?
@Gavinmercer Well, for starters, one of them (Mizuha's nokker) stabbed to death a kid last episode; justified with "she wanted to die anyways". Not to mention all the body manipulation of people they inhabit against their will. Nokkers are basically pro-suicide. Life is tough? Jump from a building and I'll take your place. Mom is abusive? Stab her to death and we'll replace her. Which one of these sounds good to you? :D

First Kahaku and now it's Izumi... I swear the author did them dirty.

She didn't deserve any of this to begin with.
Don't know, I just want her to find some sort of salvation, at the end of it all.

Don't you fumble again, Fushi.

You are right, but I was just thinking the Nokker replacement for Izumi seems pretty nice. Maybe it is more complex than that they are evil. I don't think Fushi will defeat them with his current approach, maybe it's more a case of understanding them.

I wish Mizuha was depicted differently this season, she's just always been soo annoying that I never felt connected with the character, now I don't really care if she's saved

Can't disagree. Some people seem to be suspicious of her after everything we saw, but I think she wasn't acting when Fushi was trying to kill her. And yet, knowing Izumi's past now, I don't think it'll be better if nokker stays while real Izumi leaves for the "heavens". Izumi is still THE mom.

Dunno, we can argue Izumi would've never learned her lesson if she never got killed and replaced by nokker, but unlike real life in this universe you can come back thanks to Fushi. Second chance is a thing. Nokkers prevent such people from second chance in life. Same issue was with Mimori. We already saw Mimori change her mind about staying dead. As I said before, nokkers basically let the suicidal people do the deed. Average human would try to convince such person NOT to do the deed but nokkers seem to be pro-death like previously. Die so you no longer suffer. In Izumi's case, die so Mizuha no longer suffers.

It just feels very wrong since it makes seem like problematic humans can't change and should die (Mizuha's mom), or suicidal people (like the naginata girl and Mimori) should also just give up and die (not to mention they're still very young). At the end of the day nokkers are still imposters and pretenders.

So yeah, I would agree that nokkers don't seem to be all evil. Izumi's seems decent, while Mimori's was crazy. Mizuha's one is still messed up too.

what an amazing episode and amazing season overall.
some messed up characters in the story due to the Nokkers but it's all written well. Izumi's backstory was sad, psychological, and deep. honestly, I understand everything about her and my hate for her has reduced quite a bit.
5/5 episode.

Woah, now I kinda feel sorry for Izumi, what a crazy cult backstory and great lore. I can see why shes pretty much given up, Nokker or not Mizuha is "happier" now.

Must be similar to Mr. Black's approach, which I am still puzzled to how unfazed and quickly accepting he is to this Nokker take over.

Nokkers trying to make out our boy Fushi to be the bad guy. Surely it's not gonna be a simple slay the queen to beat all the Nokker scenario.

this ep excelled at reversing things
are nokkers the worse by just existing
the bodies they took over are only thier because the person died, meaning that they by normal means wouldn't come back anyways.

So what is evil? If a nokker can show real emotionsx pain and love, does it deserve death just because its wearing someone's body? even if they didn't took it by force but just what was left after death?

also what a kick in the gut was Mizuha mother hearing all that. you get this very ambiguous feeling of, she was wrongx but does she deserve it? because remember she was KILLED for it.

it ultimately comes down to Human, what are humans, what it means to be human, the way we would deal with it (without the nokkers) would be to force ourselves into open comunication, cry, get mad, make up, repair, make stronger. with the nokker existence it just means that of something is unfit then it can just be discarded and replaced by something that fits better.

if you get a dog and its naughty, do you teach it, or do you switch it for a lookalike thats more docile and pretend its the same dog...

@Gavinmercer They are soulless. They are just piloting a body like a robot. The human soul is the true essence of life. A fake, idealized version of someone is not their true self.

@Marinate1016 I just wonder how she just ran away, seemingly with nothing but the clothes on her back and managed to incorporate into society, let alone find someone willing to marry her. But I guess if he was secretly in the cult, it'd just be enough to play the part and get her to trust you.

@Neneaux They're kind of souls themselves, though probably not the same, assuming lore has ever really explained it in the series. I'm getting vibes like the parasite aliens from Parasyte, they'd literally just take over, it's not the same situation, but it's just as disturbing when you see how they advance to a point where it might just be indistinguishable

@KOTFTW Mr. Black has resigned himself to the situation, it's likely why he gave up that one power to Fushi, which seemingly is the nail in the coffin for him just becoming another human once he turns...12 or 14, I think?

It's sad how the cult indoctrination subconsciously still pushed Izumi this way, even when she was trying to be independent. Though one has to wonder if this is more a manifestation of some hereditary issue akin to what we saw with Hayase, being so obsessive to someone, almost like she has BPD potentially (which I should learn more about, I have a friend who seemingly has gotten a proper diagnosis on that recently, I want to be supportive)

@holdingnothing The concept of a soul is exclusive to humans. An alien thing having a personality doesn't give it a soul or make it human. If you think they are the same you've been compromised by the inhuman propaganda.

@Neneaux The Nokkers can exist in something akin to paradise, they likely have at least some kind of disembodied existence, though they may just be like the Goddess clan from Seven Deadly Sins post sealing, only able to fully manifest in some way by possession of a body like a parasite
