| I kinda notice MAL is like a small or medium size city where you can form small groups without being too cliquey. While others places lean towards cliquey-ness. I think it's because MAL is also a database. Other forum are kinda... Is insular the word? |

clique: a small group of people, with shared interests or other features in common, who spend time together and do not readily allow others to join them. Yeah… I don't really like groups of people who gatekeep themselves. I've always tried to be open and to integrate new users on CD, not to turn them away. Whoever tells me I'm in a clique (it somehow happened before) because we always have the same regulars around really doesn't know me much at all. |
| No and I think that cliques forming within a community is a sign of it decaying. When I've seen it in the past like in MMORPGs where cliques formed in guilds it always ended in drama and collapse It's like the opposite end of the spectrum of bad things in a community.
