Welp, Seimei knows about the truth around what's happening and it's not pretty.

Yeah, this episode is strange but I just help but feel sorry for Takeru. He can't ever catch a break no matter whta timeline he is in. And shit, that Shino girl is more dangerous than I had expected.

The truth is too cruel for a simplemind heart of gold character like Takeru. I believe that a good intention deserve a good reward, and I hope this anime won't betray me on this principle. But no matter the outcome, I've to admit that this anime is smarter than I expect.

By the way, the highlight is when a strong guy like Takeru cry, this is the first leading role of voice actor Taihi Kimura and I think he did a good job, he's gonna be a star in the future.

Under 7 rating is criminal, it always peaks my interest what will happen next, at least its not brainot overpowered character with no existent story and boring characters

I was definitely reminded of katekyo hitman reborn and steins;gate due to all the parallel worlds and someone being able to retain/share memories from those worlds. I'm excited for next episode because we just got another reveal which I did not expect, I guess her name is a play on words of her origin.

So it's like a Kodoku for a planet!
Where the strongest survives.

Kodoku involves sealing insects or small animals in a jar to fight until only one remains.

No time warp here.

@Fligert I think it's look like Summertime Rendering. But if Summertime Rendering the time's edge was banned. If Onmyou is the parrarrel worlds, like an elimination. Reply me if you're thinking so..

This episode was really good in my opinion. Seeing Takeru breakdown was emotional and while the plot twist wasn't completely unexpected it's not generic either. Maybe Hareaki being the villain might be a bit generic but everything else was solid. I'm hoping that this show can keep up the moment and start getting even better. So that by the end of the series it's rating improves from a 6.5 to at least a 7. Because 6.5 for a show like this is too low. At least that's what I think.

So what Takeru was experiencing was not time travel, but going through parallel dimensions within the Denji Heian-kyo multiverse that were designed to destroy each other. What an interesting twist so far.

I still not sure what is the purpose to making some others look like demon, so they can fight it out with each others? survivor for the fittest mentality? only the strong for the better world? At least I am happy that Tsukimiya still around to help Takeru

Him not being stuck on a time loop but going between words is a fun twist, now I feel bad for all the characters form those parallel worlds that got ruined, I hope Yura joins them, I like her a lot.

I liked this one. We're getting to an Avenger-level threat that needs to be dealt with.

This guy, definitely Thanos:

And these two, Iron Man and Captain America:

I wonder if Takeru ended up in that world because of Tsukimiya calling him in his dreams and leading him into that "Truck-kun situation". Now everything makes a ton of sense. Time to get back at the bad guy.

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

Bokurano anyone?

This series has definitely gotten a whole lot more interesting.

@Aruyo988 I did not watch summertime rendering so I can't make comparison but Onmyou is elimination, battle royale, basically as seimei said it in the episode

This episode reminds me of a famous saying:

What the fuck is going on here?

Most shows don't do time travel/parallel universes in a way that I enjoy

This show is interesting, but there's no addressing as to why this guy is where he is and why he keeps getting reset. That's what I absolutely despise about most “Re:” shows. Most of them don't even try to address it. He's also barely shaken by dying and waking back up. It's like 30 seconds of “Oh my God!” and then he's basically back to normal. The only series that does this right is Re:ZERO. The emotion is sustained, and they actually give a reason for the resetting. It's not substantial, but it's more than get anywhere else. I wouldn't be surprised if Re:ZERO ends with him waking up from a coma, and the whole experience was a dream that started because he collapsed in front of that convenience store he was leaving in episode one. That's off-topic, though.

The other issue here are the characters. I don't know any of them. The interactions are incredibly brief. The MC name-drops strangers that had a whopping 7 seconds of screen time and never introduced themselves. Like in the beginning of this episode he runs around seeing people calling out “Soandso, you're alive!” and I'm over here like who the hell is that. It's just not good writing.

I get that the World Whittle is some grand experiment, but what I don't get is the point if it. Seimei says it is to find the best future, but why is that necessary? Why is it necessary to split Denji Heian-kyou into multiple parallels worlds and make them fight each other in some messed up elimination tournament?
Now Tsukimiya has made an appearance and it turns out she is also an outside agent like Takeru. This makes me think that the Denji Heiran-kyou experiment is a localized phenomenon and that outside observers want to put a stop to it, but owing to the nature of the isolation they have only been able to insert the one agent. At least that is the theory I just came up with. We'll have to wait until next week to see how close I got to the mark.

So that's the truth behind why they fight against each other. It's another parallel world...

Seimei trying to find his Steins Gate, but it's not pretty. He's old af so he created the ultimate parallel universe tournament to entertain himself and created a sort of goal by giving it the "strongest survives" schtick. The unexpected spoiler Takeru won't make it easy. Can't help but think Takuru inspired this guy's name too, heh! Good anime, probably my favorite currently. I like hot headed protags that aren't brokenly OP. Tsuki is cute too, hopefully she won't keep suffering Mayuri syndrome and dying so much.

Yes, this is indeed the Fantasy version of Bokurano. Crap, I don't know if my heart can take another one of those, with entire Worlds/Universes being destroyed.

So the time-travelling gimmick that Takeru has experienced thus far, he's finally seeing the truth of Denji Heian-kyo, that it's not what it seems.

The real Denji Heian-kyo, which only Seimei and his assistants are still running the state like their usual, Takeru finding himself fighting against another shikigami, that's reason and all, until Seimei showed up to clear the misunderstanding that the time leaps he's experiencing are one of 100 parallel worlds, and the ability to jump through them is purely his own. And what he had done within those parallel worlds, which he thought was just killing oni, it's his experimentation on display that only exists to form the one future he wants to create from the World Whittle.

THis, to Takeru, thinks that Semei is his enemy, but the truth is that he's more than what is assumed to be, not just from a controlling standpoint. The anomaly now with Tsukimiya saving Takeru after her saving him for what seems to be working for the betterment of Denji Heian-kyo, that with unadulterated eyes fully open, it's a clash of ideals.

The time-travelling gimmick, suddenly just got a whole lot more nuanced and interesting than what is assumed.

Seimei being responsible for the black fog, the "oni" fights, and the Centennial Pandemonium sure turns things on its head. What a mad man having 100 worlds fight each other endlessly until he's satisfied with the remaining one. That's too costly a price to pay for a perfect future.

There's more to Tsukimiya than otherwise thought. I'm happy she's on Takeru's side. But I don't have the vaguest clue on what she means by coming from the moon to stop Seimei. So I can't wait to hear about that.
