Lloyd being part of a new party probably wasn't on his bingo card list these days. It seems he didn't want to join at first but was convinced to later in the episode.

He also displayed impressive enchantment and healing abilities so Lloyd is definitely far from useless. Well, at least his new party members seems likable compared to the one he got kicked out of.

I know the banished from the hero’s party is a trope we’ve seen 1000x but I really like this show so far. I like how Lloyd joined Yui and the other’s party thanks to a selfless act like healing Sylvie. Shows how kind and compassionate he is while also showing off his immense control of mana and casting! Happy for Sylvie and Klum being reunited and able to go on adventures together again now too.

The party has a real family dynamic going which I dig. Only saw a little of them today, but Yui and the group get on so well. The look on Lloyd’s face when he got that first genuine “thank you” was so sweet as well! It’s tropey, but it’s solid so far. It’ll be interesting to see where things go from here.

Yui’s one of my fave designs of the season.

3:00 OMG! THAT RED HAIRED GUY IS VOICED BY UMEHARA YUUICHIRO! 🤣🙌🏻 I recognized his voice INSTANTLY! Goblin Slayer, Cautious Hero, the new Anos Voldigoad, Klaus from Spy Classroom, and Arata from The Shiunji Family Children last season! Such a deep voice he has 🤣 Daggas is his name

11:00 hehe, let Lloyd cook now 🔥 love these moments in anime where the OP MC finally shows everyone how OP he is and he thinks it’s normal 🤣

Lloyd finally has a new party 🙌🏻 now I’d like to see his old party see him now 🤭 I hope that one blonde knight girl joins him eventually

Ooh, and Yui is voiced by Rina Hidaka. Also voicing Filo from Shield Hero Season 4 this season too. That Milim Loli voice from Tensura 🤣 I hear it

Good episode. I didn’t expect it to have much content, but it did. So, Klum, the white mage in Yui’s party, used to adventure with her little sister, Silvie, until the tragic dungeon incident where Silvie caught the Magicstone Disease. After that, she joined Yui’s party while also trying to care for Silvie simultaneously.

She spent her mornings adventuring to earn a living, and her nights taking care of Silvie. That continued until Lloyd cured Silvie, allowing Klum to fully return to adventuring with her little sister like the good old days. As a result, Lloyd became her replacement as a white mage in Yui’s party.

A cute turn of events, to say the least. To be honest, it feels like your typical isekai story, with an overpowered protagonist surrounded by friends who can’t quite compare. Still, I’m excited to see what’s next for the S-Rank party and its newcomer, the protagonist, Lloyd.

Troped, but doing well with it.

Yui such a cute character design. Twin tail pink hair fireball and sweetness. Even given My preference to taller and more statuesque she is an S rank waifu.

LLoyd is dealing with his self image a bit quicker that the average of this trope character. Not as fast as Yuke Feldio from Lefty my A-rank party maybe, but still giving an adequate character progression.

A better and more comprehensive backstory and story on how he gets into a new party than most.

Story looks like it will stand significantly above average in the undervalued support class changing parties sub-genre.

Good, classic script as usual. Oh dear, he's too strong, he does too strong stuff, but he doesn't realize he's doing super strong stuff. Yeah, we're waiting for the rest.

@Ahohite-killer Plot setup for "needing" the MC's buff abilities.

I agree it makes no sense, but the MC being unaware of his own power despite obviously being stronger than everyone around him and everyone telling him he's amazing makes even less sense, so this show just doesn't care about logic.

There's literally a statue of her up in the town, so I suspect her standards are skewed.

It does look like she was doing it deliberately though, given that she was spying on him in secret after he arrived, which is a bit weird.

And because she gave him self-esteem issues, and he uses silent casting, the hero's party didn't realise how much he actually did for them -- as is typical for this kind of show.

@Sheol01 Seems to be fairly common fantasy trope itself. No one realizes the character's power 🙄
I guess since he was wordless invoking, the others didn't realize the enhancements were sent. The blonde questioning their last outing seems to imply she suspects the hero party is underestimating him.

I thought the same when I saw them shake hands. Unnoticed detail by the animators, I suspect.

Agreed. Hopefully it gets addressed soon. I loathe oblivious characters/plots (i.e.: Tatoeba Last Dungeon, Ore wa Subete wo "Parry" suru), so hopefully they acknowledge it and "mature" (i.e.:Shinmai Ossan Boukensha) or at least the other characters openly acknowledge it (i.e.:Kanchigai no Atelier Meister)

I think that I may end up dropping this. There isn't anything fundamentally wrong with the anime it's just that we've had two episodes so far to set up the premise and it has failed to make me excited to watch this. But! I'll give it one more episode to see if this anime can shift into gear.

so Lloyd know what he's doing, but somehow his former teammates (maybe except one) just don't see it? this is almost like the trope that go out without any explanation lol
Anyway, at least he should be happy with this team, because so far everyone is very nice and friendly

I really don't like that no one explains to him why it is so incredible what he is doing.

They talk amongst themselves about how incredible and unbelievable what Lloyd is doing, but no one really explains to him how what he does strikes awe in them, so he keeps that impression of being too weak.

Although, Lloyd did make a ton of assumptions, based on the awful way the hero party treated him.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

This one is kinda mixing Kurt (the guy that doesn't know he's very powerful), and Yuke (from that series about a fired alchemist who then goes on to create a party of his former students, all ladies, of course). You know, people always complain about "again, the same story trope over and over", but in my case, I like the idea of checking what's different in the series that caught my eye.

Also, Yui. I've been watching a series on YouTube, where the protagonist, Keiichi, solves issues in various situations, mostly in business. The funny part is that there's always a girl, namely Nagisa, Noa, or, more importantly for this comment, Yui, solving said issues with him. To think that it was one Yui that started the whole thing with the S-Rank party makes me smile.

Speaking about other similar series, if there's a possibility to save this girl from the other party who booted Lloyd in less than 10 seconds of the 1st episode, just like how Jamie from the series where Yuke is the main male character was added to Clover, it would be nice (and I'll definitely going to laugh for the similarity)

Now, about Silica's VA, Haruka Shiraishi. She's killing it lately with all of the voice jobs she's getting one after the other. Just in 2025, I've watched every single one of her characters, it's crazy:

So yeah, protect her at all costs, of course. And I'm surely watching all of these episodes for this series.

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

The power-scaling/ ranking is questionable here. If they didn’t state they were S-Rank, I would have thought they were C/ B-Rank.

Yui, the leader, is really annoying.

Lloyd, the only true S-Rank, flexing with his custom heal-spells. It seems like it’ll be a bit before he gets an ounce of confidence.

I’m curious to see what’s up with Lloyd’s previous party.

@ejleon I know the hero party treated him poorly while he was there, but Llyod having zero self awareness, plus no one explaining to him why he's actually really powerful is just so dumb to me. I imagine this is setting up for later on where we'll learn that the hero's party is now doing awful because he left, no?

It's nothing new so far, but I like the new party's chemistry and this seems like it might come with a bit more of iyashikei/healing than the typical anime of this "OP MC getting kicked out of their party" trope. I'm enjoying it!

I agree with you, it is that same trope that like 3-4 (maybe more) anime did this and last year, I get it is a go to situation, but they don’t have to do the same thing each time, they can change it up.

I loved that he used a less efficient heal spell to burn off the excess mana his inverse mana transfer was drawing into him. Made for a nice touch instead of just brute-forcing like other animes would do. The scenes of him being forced to customize his spells while surviving the week in the wilderness really paid off with his dynamic spell casting here.

Episode 2 introduced the new adventurer party. I think it was good to see that Loyd could also help his new group members and also showed how strong he really is. Him combining multiple spells was interesting to see. All in all a good episode and I am interested to see how the party will go to their first adventure together. ^^
