So we got a timeskip of 12 years. Takami and Nerima are now pro. Haitani became a school teacher. It was a whatever chapter really. Overall I thought the manga did a poor job fleshing out the other characters expect Haitani. The axe was inevitable.

Makes sense! ty. I only recalled the "large-sized" version of the finale coming out in august.

I'm happy to see this manga leave the pages of jump. It started good and had a lot of promise but that promise went unfulfilled. I feel like the author would have been better making a different type of story. Soccer was not the best choice for conveying the growth of Hainati, Takami, or Nerumi..

It's not the ending I was hoping nor expecting. Kinda weird to hear him declare his love for football, only for him to end up as a teacher. While I get the full circle aspect of it, and it's a easy way out for being axed, I still wanted to see Haitani end up as a player. Anyway, I liked this manga, so I'm gonna miss it. But I guess we're all stuck with mostly Baseball as our sport titles.

started with so much promise and then dwindled, I would have loved to see more development in the side characters rather than just the same thing over and over for about 10 chapters straight

I'm not surprised it was axed though the last two chapters made me remember how much promise it had, it's a shame but nothing you can really do about it

EVEN IF IT WAS THE LAST CHAPTER THE ART WENT SO HARD!!!! Man really can't see what both the artist and the author have in store! REALLY wanted to see all the characters further explored and where they all ended up. And I'd like to see what made Haitani want to be a teacher instead of say, a highschool soccer coach or something. I'm conflicted about the ending because on the one hand it's very nice and fitting for someone like Haitani, but on the other hand I kinda wish he stuck with soccer and became the GOAT at it or something. This manga really had it imo to go for a long time with awesome arcs, but it was cut short due to the reception in Japan. Oh well, I think Haitani was a beast and this was a fun series while it lasted!

Man, I'm so sad this manga was axed. It had soooo much potential: the characters, the DRAWING WAS INSANE, and the emotional part of the plot was so nice... I feel like it was already planned that it was going to be axed from the beginning, the second game or so was already rused... What a shame. I will really miss this manga.

welp that's a shame. had potential but the only thing letting it down was the characters. author even flexed that art for the final chapter. and damn bro looked really different after the timeskip. we need another football/sports series soon hopefully.

What a colossal shame. Another manga bites the dust in the confines of Shonen Jump, and I made the mistake of getting attached to it. I do believe that Embers fell flat on most aspects, but I also believe that it had potential and should have been given more of a chance to get better. As for this final chapter, it ended about as well as I could have hoped it would. We get a redo of the first match, and towards the end we even see Haitani become a teacher that feels for delinquents because he used to be one himself. It’s weird that he’s not pursuing soccer at all though. Oh well. I’m excited to see what these authors will cook up next time on their own personal journeys.

Always makes me sad to see this kind of manga getting axed so soon. Had a lot of potential, I think the author was laying many interesting pathes it could fallow. Why, bro, why can't people make/appretiate sports manga anymore? :(

I agree. The artist especially has a great career ahead of them. The author could definitely do much better with a different story in my opinion. I really wished to have seen other characters flushed out, but it is what it is. I had fun for what it was, even if nothing revolutionary :P

Yep :( But more on the art, i’m really excited to see what Sotaro Nishii will illustrate in the future. Hopefully he’s on the radar of an author especially worthy of his time.

@krucifying Agreed, VERY solid sports series. Art goes gigahard when it wants. Would kill to see Haitani at least cameo in another series someday!

Sad to see this one go. It needed to flesh out the team more but in its axed form the focus on the MC and his rivals worked for the limited time it had. I like how hot blooded this was and honestly never felt bored reading it. Rest in power and I hope the author is given another chance because I feel like they could do amazing things.
