Beryl got put into a difficult fight this episode, seems like the most toughest one he's faced on screen yet this season. That monster reminds me of something out of Monster Hunter or The Witcher games.

Surena also got some action in so it's not just him doing the dirty work. This makes me wonder what other creatures are in their world.

Beryl and Surena got their first big W together and I liked the Monster Hunter style fight, but man the animation really took a nosedive today. It felt like I was watching a slideshow with how slow everything was. The CGI blend is still solid, but the fluidity of the movements feels off to me. Surprised I haven’t seen more people talk about it.

Beryl really didn’t need to prove anything to anyone, but taking down that Griffin should silence any doubters about his capability of being an adventurer. Which is the exact opposite of what he wanted πŸ˜‚ bro’s not getting the quiet life in the capital. Good on Surena for realizing she kinda messed up and making it up to him by giving him the monster leg for a sword. Can’t wait to see what his weapon looks like.

Speaking of which, good thing they went to the shop today so Curuni could get a new sword that better fits her fighting style. She looks so badass with the two hand sword. The 3DCGI scenes while she was training looked cool. Just not a fan of that griffin fight earlier..

Wait! Am I mixing her up with someone else or wasn’t Mewi the student who Beryl taught that became a mage? She’s a pick pocket now? I thought something was off with her πŸ€” what’s she got herself into

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

Honestly I liked the fight but my favourite part of the episode was picking out the new sword. It was just a nice scene and showed how Beryl is always thinking of the others. Presumably the pickpocket girl is another one of his former students who has ended up in a bad situation and now needs saving from the thugs she has ended up serving.

Did bro train the whole city, new students are popping up left and right 😭. The animation was so fluid during that boss fight, I thought the animation would be solid going into this but not that good.

True. Their CG compositing is so well done, most scenes that were CG doesnt look like it in the first glance. You have to pay really close attention to catch the subtle CG movements. This is some fine animation not gonna lie and I really like the way its done

Gonna be fair to Beryl, he has a point about the fact that he would have died against the Gryphon without Lisandra´s help so I don´t see it as him being too humble for his own good in this situation. Unless it is explain in the source material or manga that Lisandra has fought and lose against the Gryphon before, in which case this would actually prove how strong he is

Love to the gray hair girl from the ED that will become (most likely) the newest student of Beryl to finally show up but definitely Best Student is Balder jaja

The bird fight was very Witcher-esque in vibe (both the dodging combat, and the music).

Also was expecting the blacksmith to be one of his former students (since everyone seems to be), but wasn't expecting it to be an older man, so I guess that was a slight surprise at least!

He literally trained everyone. I wouldn't be surprised if, at some point, the hero himself was trained by him.

For readers of the manga, is this poorly adapted? Personally, I thought the fighting was decent. I'm not sure how much of the original work they're skipping over, but I've seen some complaints. That said, so far I haven't noticed any inconsistencies or significant gaps in the story.

That was quite the intense fight, it feels like Beryl started the game by fighting the last boss, poor guy.
But glad to see some good moments between him and Surena.
Also, pretty funny to see Allucia being jealous and grumbling, as always.
Balder is an amusing guy, hope we'll see a bit more of him.

Huh huh, it seems like we finally met the last girl that we see in the ED: unfortunately, her circumstances are really difficult, I wonder if she's also a former student of Beryl or not, because it didn't seem like she knew him from the way she acted.
In any case, I can't wait to find out more about her.

Another fantastic episode :)

Yea, I'm out with this one. The episodes were kind of mediocre to bad and this one kinda reached a new low. It really wants to be a harem with some action mixed in and an OP character with no self-confidence. Just a mix of cliches. Nothing original. Bland storytelling. The outfits are revealing for no reason other than fan service. I'd call this low grade mass produced slop tbh and I just don't care for it. Couldn't get through this episode.

Ofc I'm not a fan of harem or fanservice and I dislike too much action. I am not the target audience lol.

Beryl definitely has skills, but I wonder just how good / strong he actually is. He cut the tail off and poke the eye, but if Surena didn't finish it off, I wonder if he can survive?

I am surprised he able to get some alone time drinking at night, consider his students can't help but hang around him almost at all time

Dropping here. This anime is just not worth it compared to the manga.
Fights in the manga are remarkably well storyboarded, there are ten times more dynamic than the ones in the anime. The later add completely stupid ideas to the fights like this lava thing that does not exist in the manga and is not even well used here.
Whoever did this adaptation failed it, I'm afraid.

This has honestly been pretty underwhelming. So far it's not at all unique or that exciting, and the plots just sort of wanders from ep to ep. Don't get me wrong tho I don't dislike it, but it's very average to the point I'm surprised this is sitting above a 7 average. I wouldn't call it "turn your brain off simple", but at the same time it's really 0 effort to follow with what little plots being established. Hopefully it starts to actually pick up the pace/do something genuinely interesting because even as slice of life elements go this has been pretty empty so far.

I would love to know what's more accurate to the source material. In the manga the named beast gives him trouble but is also scared of him, he seems way more competent (even though he doesn't realize just how OP he is) and the battle plays out different and better. This version was a bit of a let down, the AOE magma attack was cool though.

this episode probably the largest disappointment so far for the series. my expectations grew from the carefully notated footwork, posturing, technique swordplay to a point i was comfortably enjoying the technicalities of each fight in a very simply way and this fight in particular just went and threw all of that away.

Tell me you've never fought or hunted an animal before without ever telling me you've ever fought or hunted an animal before. you simply don't even approach interactions with animals like a human for the very simple and mundane fact that they aren't even human. so why would you go full Hollywood gladiator on it like its even capable of preaching to you the intricacies of quantum physics and cooking you dinner later? how does this make any sense?

idk maybe I'm just getting old... its just one of those small and insignificant dumb things you see like cartoons drawing of guns shooting out entire cartridges out of the barrel or hackers gaining access to a server after a few minute of some keyboard gymnastics.

I’m not sure if I’m satisfied with the monster fight—something about it felt off. But whatever. The main point of the show is to gradually reveal the MC’s strengths, both to himself and to the world, and the fight did a decent enough job at that.

More importantly, we’re four episodes in and there’s still no hot MILF with big oppai. I’m disappointed. Hurry up.

TL;DR: THEY'RE REALLY RUINING THIS CLASSIC SERIES INTO GARBAGE BECAUSE OF HOW DULL THE BATTLES ARE BEING DONE. EVEN THE CHARACTER INTRODUCTIONS AND THEIR QUIRKS ARE BEING DISCARDED WHEN IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE IMPORTANT!!!

This is supposed to be adapted from the LN, and since I loved the MANGA, I was hoping for a better episode, but this?! Ruined! Sigh. I'm really appalled. (this is already the 4th episode, but another battle scene has been ruined because of the slowness)

Again, the slowdown of the pacing of each action could've been used for other things, but since they don't want to introduce side characters character, and even the main supporting ones, and lastly, even the main character himself is being ignored by the cool things he was supposed to get into.

You know what? They've been focusing on the girls lately in this episode, instead of the lore and character developments. Since the CG is terrible, I'm loosing hope for this series... I was expecting another old man, like the parry everything series, to have the same quality since episode one, but I guess we get to see how terrible they will make this in the next couple of episodes.

P.S Please, if you still love this series, stop the idiot/s who's/ ruining this classic series. Shame on the people who're playing with money yet again.

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Beryl, with Surena’s help, managed to defeat the named beast, though the lava segment didn’t make much sense—he just walked on it without showing any signs of burning or pain.

We also met another of Beryl’s students, Balder. He seems like a fun and friendly guy to be around, and it looks like he’ll be crafting a really unique blade for Beryl using parts from the monster Zeno Grable that Surena brought.

From the ending, we saw Mewi, a girl who can use magic but chose to live as a pickpocket. I wonder what kind of reason or circumstances led her to this path—maybe we’ll find out more about her in the next episode.

4 episodes in and the most "exciting" thing was generic no name monster with awful animation in fight scenes. This anime truly makes me appreciate the worst slops and isekais we get every season because they can at least be funny at how awful they are, and they don't pretend to have any sort of worthwhile plot.
I'll stick around just to see the chicken leg sword but this is probably drop after that.

@Narizor Honesty after I've read all of what the anime has covered so far, I don't really like the adaptation so far mostly because it's cut a lot of stuff the manga had. The reasoning for a lot of things is changed(example: curuni's reason for getting a new sword is because everyone has gotten used to her fighting style and she's been losing to the other people in the order). Some surena moments were cut too like explaining what her blade is made out of and how she killed an immortal dragon. Also the griffin fight is a lot cooler in the manga. A good amount of beryl's inner monologs are cut too. The person above me shows also some of the really good manga panels they cut from the anime.
TLDR: All of this to say, just read the manga it's definitely better than the anime.

The battle against the griffon is really important in the manga, as they show that normal weapons can't harm strong magical beasts (hence the introduction of magic wapons), Sensei's ability to adapt to new threats and the backstory between Surena and Sensei. The studio should have showed a high stakes fight and teamwork between Surena and Sensei, but the episode really disappointed me.

@Narizor The anime is adapted from the novel, not the manga. You can effectively consider the manga and anime parallels as far as different version of the story. If you've not read the manga first then you'll probably enjoy the anime more but for myself, started reading the manga in 2022, I think the manga does a much better job with the story and Kazuki Satou's character design is superior to the anime.

The bird fight ended up being pretty impressive with Surena dealing the killing blow after misunderstanding that Beryl wanted her to fight it to begin with.

Regarding Beryl's new sword that is being made, I'm curious to see how the bird leg will look as part of it once it's complete and if it will serve any useful benefit besides possibly looking badass.

After this episode I've started to think that Beryl is actual smart, but the lack of intelligence all around him gaslighted him into believing that trash tier techniques and ideas are simply different and worthy of being used by others. The only thing that's missing is the 'comedy' tag for the anime.

@NB_Tenchy This omg! I was really disappointed they skipped this. Plus the abrupt end with the earlier griffin fight...This episode got worse as it goes on. Hopefully, it gets better but man I don't have high hopes for this adaptation if they even decided to skip that cool scene and ability.
