The very thing Shion created, ultimately saved his life. But with the casualty count being that high, he should not blame himself, as much as the magic comes alive within him. That gives Shion incentive to try and heal Marie through his magic, as much as he needs to exponentially expend until her magical energy is back.

With the huge work involving the lethargy sickness resolved, the questions and answers bellow from Shion to the adults, which confirms his Legreh descendance and the word that he will be the hope of the future. Barring Gawain and Emma aside from hiding the truth, they still want to honour him as if he's their son, though the Legreh part is still hard to believe for them, though Shion knows that it was formed from part of his reincarnation life. Marie is fine and all, but Shion is progressively taking his descendance seriously until the invitation from Queen Luxua to set out on his own journey to the royal capital on his 13th birthday.

This "Isekai" isn't bad by any means, but it's just that, an alright show.

I'll give this show this, this final episode wasn't half bad. FARRR better than last week's garbage, but in general, it was just a good episode that wrapped everything up.

Still doesn't excuse the rest of the show though. This had potential... but did nothing with said potential, and just went the generic “grown man reincarnates as a super-talented boy” wish-fulfillment story... yeah, no season two, thank god.

I would say that it's definitely an ok show. So I'm going to give it 6/10, but since Raffina is the best girl. I'll bump it by one point just because Raffina is the best girl. So overall, I'll give it 7/10.

It's carried by the story which is a good thing, because the rest is a bit meh and the story is what is the most important thing.
It's solid, even if it's a story that have been told many times before, the spin on it is pleasant.

It's not crazy, but it's definitly not trash, this is a watch for sure, even if it's not a priority watch, does it make sense?

Last episode was good and emotional but doesn't excuse how meh the previous episodes were.
Story was good but idk, either it wasn't executed well or something but I do know it was so meh in the first few episodes.
I don't know about a s2 but if it does get one, I'll watch.
5/10.

This anime has good quality production for sure (at least compare among isekai genre) but I'm shocked to learn that even a lower rank of demon cause 420 casualties. It's just too sad for me. I want a more peaceful world.

Despite the quality of the animation, this series will be a memorable one to me because of its characters, theme songs, and world building. 8/10

While it's rather underrated (currently 6.62β˜…), it is still a rather enjoyable ride watching this every week.

For now, this series will have to end, but I'm still hoping for a sequel one of these days.
I'm definitely hoping for a manga adaptation, if it's possible.

The way they ended this series with this episode is quite lovely, and I hope the atmosphere and world building—especially how the characters interact with one another could be preserved. (excluding the fact that some of them are portrayed obnoxiously)

P.S. Now, time to find another masterpiece. πŸ₯²

It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

That was a good end to what should then lead into the next 12 episodes leading to 24 total, or at least show the Queens reaction to everything.

I hope they will have a second season, but if not, some specials showing more of the story.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

So after Shion finally wakes up after a whole week, his magic capacity has somehow increased—no explanation as to why or how, especially for someone who's all about the "why" and "how" of magic.

Everyone who was afflicted with lethargy sickness, including Marie (who was the first), is recovering. Shion also learns about his origin but decides to keep his reincarnation a secret.

The family says their goodbyes as Shion heads to the Royal Castle after receiving an invitation from the queen.

Up until the ending, nothing special really happened. The show has deviated from its original title multiple times, and while it started off average, I can’t recall any standout episodes. This one was just average at best.

There is actually a manga for this, and although there are some differences with the anime, it ends at the same point as the anime. The light novel apparently has way more content, although I haven't read it, and is the source for both the manga and anime.

I like that things were tied up with lethargy sickness, and his sister Marie being healed.

It kind of felt like it was getting more interesting in the last episode to be honest πŸ˜… with Shion starting to show control over his abilities.

Still not really clear on whether his power comes from being blessed by a fairy, being a descendent of the Legreh, or a bit of both (guess both) but cool nonetheless.

Poor Marie bedridden for so long and just a few days later she has to say goodbye to Shion, Raffina and Rose best girls.

I liked a lot the characters and this world, I would be really happy if it gets a second season, but I hope the girls would stay relevant and become fighters and that it doesn't become one of the usual series where MC is the only one that accomplishes anything.

The anime follows the light novel. The manga adaptation was made as promotional material for the light novel. That probably explains why the story doesn't line up.

Man this made me emotional what a finale such a perfect ending. Shion saying bye to everyone including audiance. I realised how much I loved this anime now after ending it.

So happy to see Marie got awakened that's the one thing I wanted before it ends. Well done Shion. Really teared me up when wake up and shared her experience. Shion Maries bond is the best thing about the show. Incest is WINCEST another proof is this. It's not blood related is rather a negetive now but idc.

Sucks how after this long time they have to be separate again. The departing scene was amazing aswell. Atleast Shion got Raffina to tag along with him. I like her but don't cut line. Rose and Marie is ahead respect that. Both deserve to win and I am rooting for both of them. But if one Ne-chan supremacy...

Giving him a pendent as reminder man such sweet gift. Despite being adopted three of them really gave Shion so much love and support. Really sad too them say goodbye as this is metaphorically true for this anime cause high chance it probably won't get a sequel.

7.5/10
Despite lackluster production the story is quite good. It rewards the viewers after the slow initial progress but when Shion when finally did get magic it was so satisfying. And last arc was very good way to end the season. This feels like a prologue of a more bigger story but alas.

Shion best boy & brother ; Marie best girl and sister.

To me, it had a better premise at the start. I would have been more than happy to have had Shion continue just developing Magic in this World, than falling into these old tropes again. Not too bad, not very good either. If there is ever a Season 2 I guess I could watch it.

The ending isn't as bad as it was fixing to be last episode. The blubbery sister-love angle was a little overwrought, and I wouldn't have thought it was creepy at all- in fact kind of touching- if they were genuine FAMILY. But this kid is 'reincarnated' Isekai Protagonist #13,146 and has no reason to love her that much.
Maybe I just missed something there.
Its worst sin was just being BORING. Week after week, I had to force myself to watch this. The 'final boss' fight was incredibly bad, and it did nothing in the animation department to justify itself. The characters are very cute, the story is very stock, the MC is very bland, call it what you will I say generic. Mass produced chaff. Achieves nothing, deserves no reward. 3/5 this episode. 3/10 the whole anime.

The vampire got poisoned was funny lol. Too bad the anime ended when it started to become interesting.

A bit of complaint is Shion became dumb temper tantrum child when his sister collapsed. From various clues like his father can't see the red sky and wraith, it should be no brainer to know that the incident had something to do with magic.

it's Studio Deen folks, ALWAYS keep the bar low for their projects. from the starting minute till the last moments of the finale.

the only thing they've done recently that was really good (that i've watched) was Re: Monster. 'Noble on the Brink of Ruin' ehh fun story with cute girls, otherwise just ok. 'Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases' ugghhh! :P that was terrrrrible! a total and utter waste of my time! if i could sue Deen and get that part of my lifespan back i would. i loved the original 'Sorcerous Stabber Orphen' series but Deen's version? ohhh boy! all over the place. i basically dropped the franchise after ep1 of 'Doom of Dragon's Sanctuary' (S4) back in Spring 2023. after slogging through Deen's previous 37 eps over 3 Seasons and 1 unaired episode. i just couldn't take it anymore. then as everybody knows, when Deen took over 100% on 'Seven Deadly Sins' the quality tanked entirely. i only finished that franchise to see what the big conclusion was. ugh, what a crapfest!

the storytelling and baseline premise for this show was what carried it for me. even though the character designs were meh and the animation was pretty decent to above average. Deen didn't ENTIRELY screw this one up. not as good looking or as entertaining as Re: Monster, but the storytelling was DEFINITELY better here than in 'Noble on the Brink of Ruin'.

now, i DID watch Crunchy's simulcast English dub instead of sub for Magic Maker... so maybe that gave me some confirmation bias... i do tend to like the 'writing' and acting for English scripts more than the subs/acting for Japanese in the exact same show. i also hardly ever re-re-watch a subbed show VS the dub version... unless it is a masterpiece like Monogatari (which i own all of ANIPLEX USA's BR disks of) and has no English dub. frankly, i think this show would be good for an entry level or casual anime fan. folks with a lot of different anime under their belts or decades of experience will be underwhelmed by the visual quality of Magic Maker.

S2?? ehhh... i do want to know what tha hell was up with 'The Blessing of the Fairies' thing and why folks keep em caged as pets. hmmm... i'd watch a S2 for Magic Maker. i won't be bouncing on my toes eagerly awaiting it though.

Ah, 12 episodes was too short. Really hoping they decided to create a 2nd season, because I wanted to see Shion create more magic combinations. I looked through the wiki and there's like 3 volumes only for the Light Novel, might not be enough. But luckily there's a web novel.

@Noegusis do your research, Crunchy waited till Jan 20 for Solo Leveling S1 Ep1 English dub when the show started on Jan. 7th in Japan. so, they're doing the same thing with S2, 18 Jan. Dub, 7 Jan. Sub.

don't even TRY figuring out Funi-Roll's decision-making processes... i've been following Funimation since they first started operations with DragonBall on syndicated TV in the US and Crunchy back when they were internet fansub pirates. now that SONY Jp. owns em both??? the only thing i can say is if it is A-1 Pictures' or ANIPLEXs' anime... Funi-Roll is getting ALL their titles and paying the LOWEST prices possible. otherwise? \shrug/ everybody else's guesses are as good as mine.

This was good anime, mostly becasue it was rather slow and methodically progressing which gave it it's charm.

The MC is not some OP egoistical guy but it started as a kid (although with adult mentality) and slowly progressed as it aged. I really like how first he discovered magic and then trough actual research and testing (unlike suddenly learning new skill) he was able to develop several skills which he used later on.

I also really like the dynamic between MC and his adoptive family. Rarely in anime you can see it working as well as it is here where you have father, mom and a sister who are very supportive and actually act like a family members.

The story development and character development was well done and it made me carving for more. There were some issues with pacing and some annoying and bland characters but overall the show was very interesting watch.

The stage is set for season 2 and I hope this show will get it eventually.

8/10 show.

Basically even though he is reincarnated from our own world the little glimpse we got from his original life is that he was living pretty miserable life. Alone and only dedicated to work. It was so bad he got heart attack at age of 30 and died.
Then enter here, where he is alive for only 13 years. And in those 13 years 11 were filled with love, care and trust from his father, mother and especially sister who encouraged him to pursue magic experimentation in the 1st place.
That is not to say that he has childhood friend who is also supporting him as well as many other genuinely good people who supported him here and there.
When you have people who care that much about you and you spent more than a decade with them of course that you are going to shed mainly tears if you are to be separated for some time.

Actually the anime adaptation does feature some changes according to the author's blog post.
If you've read the web version, the published book, or the manga adaptation, you might have noticed that the first episode here follows a different flow compared to those. With so many isekai reincarnation stories and "narou-style" works out there, part of the goal with this current structure was to stand out from the crowd. As the original author, I think this turned into a seriously fun direction for the story!!

It took a bit too long for this to get good, and once it got good, the story took a disappointing turn. He's not really a "magic maker" if there are/were sentient beings already proficient in it. The concept he was making magic is what kept me watching despite the slow start. The idea of the very first sentient being discovering an aspect of the world that explains phenomena no one understands and utilizing it is what made the story really compelling.

We evidentially can't have that, though. No. The concept already exists, but the adults were all playing dumb, and he's the descendant of one of the two races that could do magic already. They botched the story direction so hard with that turn. Making magic from scratch was an incredibly unique and interesting story idea. Being the only descendant of a powerful extinct race is the least original thing they could possibly put in the story. It's a damn shame…
