Trump Tariff Wars

The story on Trump’s tariffs is getting even more frenetic, almost to the point where coherent reporting – and certainly analysis – is all but impossible. All the major newspapers (and broadcast media) are running reports, but different organs are often looking at different bits, often at different stages, so there is little in the way of a unifying theme.

Brussels is watching amazed, as Trump destroys the US economy. "Nobody in the Commission thought that the US government would be this stupid and self-destructive," an EU official tells me. "That they would blow up their own country by letting ChatGPT make their trade policy."

Donnie and crew realize these tariffs would bankrupt American companies first, and on top of that their government is so schizophrenic that American port authorities can’t even implement the White House’s tariffs, while China’s tariffs are in place immediately.

Donnie walks back his tariff pronouncements, having simultaneously generated zero revenue for the US government ‘while’ increasing prices for American consumers. China’s tariffs remain in place because the Orangutan played a stupid game on the world stage and won the retard crown.

This is why government work is supposed to be left to serious government people, and not mentally deficient Wall Streeters and Real Estate loons.

Some small and midsize U.S. manufacturers are seeing an uptick in orders from companies looking to avoid paying new tariffs, stoking hope that the levies might boost their businesses over the longer-term.

Japanese bathroom fixture manufacturer Toto is laying off 2,000 employees in mainland China and closing factories in Beijing and Shanghai, citing a downturn in the Chinese property market and increased competition. Toto President Shinya Tamura stated that the company’s operations in mainland China have fallen into deficit, prompting the restructuring.

The 90-day pause will come into effect from Wednesday, with the US reducing tariffs on China to 30%, down from 145%. China will reduce duties on US goods to 10%, down from 125%.
