The guy Noor is facing off against is a freak. No wonder Zadu got a reputation as a murderer.

That wasn't the only problem this episode as a dragon manages to descend from the skies. Truly though, this episode just spells for disaster with no good news in sight. A typical episode that really gave the cast no room to breathe fresh air. Ines showed off her skills this episode and tbh, I'm not surprised. She always seems to be one of the stronger characters in the show.

Unfortunately, our MC can barely parry a bunch of knives aimed at them, which I was expecting that he can, but by doing it this way, it's more interesting, than being a boring op series.

Lynne really needs her "guidance"
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Someone needs to just sit the MC down in a classroom and teach him how the world works. Dude would have just happily let the incredibly sketchy looking guy take the demon kid if he'd asked nicely. This author is just writing rage bait with how naive his character is

Waiting for Noor to misclassify the dragon of calamity as a "big lizard" after he misclassify the strongest criminal of all time as "a guy who order a poison toad for dinner".

But seriously who can blame him when people around him keep using ambigious words like "festival" or "a very big event", Noor really think there's a festival in town for real.

Who would win, unlimited blade works or a few rocky boys?

Subpar animation as per for the Zabu and Noor fight but still laughing at him stopping the most infamous and powerful criminal ever with some damn rocks. And of course he doesn’t even think he’s the most powerful or infamous criminal because Noor is too oblivious to literally everything in this world. Still, he did survive his biggest challenge yet and kept Rolo safe. Now, can he parry a dragon?

Bro is still thinking about eating that damn poison frog, man 😭 and I don’t think telling Zabu “stop doing that” is gonna stop a dude who killed the entire royal family

Knowing Noor he’s probably gonna think the dragon is a big lizard and that there’s actually a festival in town. I swear this dude gets dumber and dumber every episode. At first it was funny but now it’s genuinely annoying lmao.

Let’s see what they cook up

....and the misunderstanding continues on and on. sigh

I was expecting the episode title to be: "I parried a Deadman" and I wasn't disappointed in the end. LOL
You see there's no need to wonder where your god is,
Coz he's right here! ...and he's fresh out of mercy.

Another enjoyable episode, with that Deadman Zadu attacking our main characters.

Finally the Knight Woman steps in to help, been waiting for that.

I hope they get back in time to help defend the capital.

Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

The lead is impressively dense like it's really commendable at this point. Enjoying the show though still (while exclaiming every time Noor is so damn oblivious). Like it's so silly that it then becomes funny, but I don't think it's funny in the way that it was intended to be.

I was trying to give protag a chance but he is indeed (written as) a retard. Like what should be going through his mind when the opponent is clearly trying to kill him and he's just asking "why are you trying to do? / can you stop this please?". That clearly goes beyond the "misunderstanding" trait.

Cautious Hero is way better. Once you learn why he is cautious. With parry hero, it's trying to be funny or trying to make the hero look humble? Whatever it is, it's not working.

So wait. The whole premise of his ability is that that he can “parry” a “thousand swords”, but when given the actual opportunity to the most he can do is like 10 at a time!?!? Lmfao bro WHAT!? This show is CHEEKS! It’s so dumb lol. I’m still watching tho smh, must be a masochist lmao

@sodrainz Sheesh, thanks for dragging me back to this from like a month ago.

I gotta say the poison episodes were pretty bad because they didn't explain his "poison-immune" ability and it felt forced-in. And this episode is lacking those funny moments to hold the trope together, meanwhile the shield lady just kept breaking her character.

I'd definitely not rate this anime as high at this point, unfortunately I can't predict the future and I still stand by the points that I made at the time of our initial discussion.

Good try on the gotcha tho.

Totally a missed opportunity here. The beginning of this show his nonsense training "I can parry about 1000 swords at once now". Would of been funnier if he parried all 100 or so of that dudes flying swords like it was nothing. I figured his "I can parry lots at once" thing would of had some relevance later on but it looks like they're not going that route.

He even parries good writing!

This MC is honestly one of the dumbest I’ve ever seen. Your typical gullible isekai soy boy protagonist is less dense than this guy. The general plot seems passable if it wasn’t for the actually retarded MC, which is unfortunate because the animation, voice acting, and sound design seem good.

Not many options this season but still not sure I can handle watching anymore. Probable drop

@Moppit I'm on board with this. while it's fine for a setup, it's not great for a whole series. a running gag that has stayed well past its welcome. the show itself isn't bad, but the MC writing is terrible.

He's still OP. They couldn't demonstrate how much of a nice guy he is if parries all the daggers. So they decide to show how great of a guy he is with blocking them with his body.

MC isn't just stupid, the author also stripped him of any instincts.
Normally when attacked, regardless of intelligence, you'd understand.
But Noor doesn't even have that, basic human instincts.
What the fuck is the author thinking with this crap?
Is this just one big shitpost?

With this episode the series has crossed the threshold from stupid-funny to stupid-stupid for me. There might be a way to properly pull off this premise but the author/the writers have clearly failed to do so. It just feels forced and convoluted how they are trying to write around Noor's stupidity to make the plot happen. I'll still watch the rest of the series out of curiousity as to whether the studio is able to turn this trainwreck around but I seriously doubt it.

Reading these other comments I'm just grateful that I'm not alone thinking the way I am...
The MC is so dense, clueless and stupid to the point where it's annoying as hell. It's not funny or a good joke, the anime would be so much better without that aspect. The animation quality is good too, what a shame.

The Knight woman took over two episodes to help the MC as well after against all odds he didn't die before to the poison and so on...

It's kind of interesting that Zadu is an OP adventurer which also likes to use daggers/short swords and he's voiced by Ban Taito, the same on who voiced Song Jinwoo, the MC of Solo Leveling's anime adaptation.
Anyway, I noticed the pacing of the story is kind of slow. We're already past the halfway point of the season and so far there are still little developments. But to be fair, the anime is adapting the source LN almost the same way the manga is adapting it (this episode is on chapter 11 of the manga adaptation) so I guess that's just how the pacing really is.

Noor and Lynne facing Rolo's captor of Deadman Zadu, but the former has no awareness of him being a slave, and can only parry for defense to the best of his abilities. The former S-rank Dragon Slayer prodigy of an adventurer clearly is no slouch, though etching to the evil side presents a challenge because of his long-standing contributions to the Guild that can't be ignored, amidst just going on a rampage of his own, killing scores of people

Zadu's ace attack of Silver Cross shows his skills as Noor parries all he can, with Ines coming in for assistance. The outlier of the Black Death Dragon's fangs aside to break his streak, and even the strongest material of adamantine, Noor's sword is able to break, though the denseness precedes Zadu having to retreat for the "celebration" back at the royal capital, which clearly is a distress call from Lynne's brother.

Indeed, the Black Death Dragon, or rather the Dragon of Calamity, has descended into Mithra, and if they don't do anything, another kingdom's gonna be wiped out sooner...

@Moppit To each their own.

In my opinion the part where we learn why he's cautious is far too gruesome for such a happy-go-lucky presentation. The tone of the series flipflops incessantly. This anime is straight up dumb and i enjoy every bit of it. Unlike most people crying about how the MC isn't self-aware, i'd rather he never be self-aware to not betray the premise which is an honest and simple person. Nobody stays honest and simple if they knew they're stronger than everyone.

This way the matter of how he keeps explaining and dodging credit is interesting writing of itself.
