THIS IS A NOVEL ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS VOLUME.
----------------------------------------
So this is the ending of the first part of this series. The title of this novel, like the author said, doesn't have any deep meaning to it. But somehow, its still quite nice when Elaina named her book after it.

The journey in this volume was the most mystical one. So many witches was included and she was even caught by the demon. This time, her encounter with Estelle and Selena were the most memorable to me, well, I am a fan of tragedy. Although it's something not that highly unique, the theme and the words said and the illustration made an impact enough.

caught up to the three volumes today and not a fan at all tbh. it's just a modern ripoff of kino's journey with no real interesting stuff to it at all. kino's journey atleast has the philosophies and world-building to catch my drift but this is just straight up sleeping pill material in comparison. disappointed af.

Unlike the MangagnaM imbecile with the overly negative reply above me, I find this volume quite another interesting trip, though I've yet to come around anything as individually powerful as the Elise story in volume 2.

I continue to really, really like this storybuilding. It often ties back to previous stories/chapters and being able to connect the dots somewhat like Baccano and Durarara did, resulting in a currently ongoing achronologically orientated construction of Elaina's world itself, while still being able to have completely separate unrelated stories to have the series stick to its intended identity and traveling & moral themings.

While I'll admit I'm not exactly fond of this volume having more shorter chapters, there was a lot more going on overall in terms of recurring characters (and upcoming ones), and I'm actually kinda more interesting now in the possible further exploration in the whole "witches' code" and perhaps a whole hierachy of sorts.

I'm not sure if it's REALLY is inferior to Kino's Journey LN or not, or if it's really the other way around. I'd have to check out the volumes for that myself soon.

As for Majo no Tabitabi, can't wait for the rest to get translated, although I heard that the adaptation may show stuff from volume 5, allegedly.

aww you hurt that someone actually found a series you love to be disappointing and trash to call me an imbecile? how sad :( . i apologize for hurting your feelings like that.

i just find this series to be really dull with no substance, simple as that. chapters too short to be interesting and characters too uninteresting to make me care for the adventure. i apologize too for being BLIND to the apparent greatness that is this awful ass series.

Agree 100%. I couldn't even finish volume 1. The crew that made the anime were the true magicians, by taking these insubstantial and boring books and making them beautiful and fun to watch. They added an actual story and some continuity, and the fanservice didn't hurt. I couldn't force myself to keep reading, but I didn't even see the events of episode 1 in the novel, so I assume the anime creators completely invented it, which is amazing. This is the first time I've ever seen where the anime was better than the LN in every way.

Finally got around to reading this volume and I can definitely tell that this series has just not aged as well as I hoped it would be ever since the anime fell in quality for me. Not necessarily a bad volume but a volume that isn't particulary interesting to me, did keep me a bit entertained though with some of its short chapters for the light entertainment at best, nothing deeper than that. The Selena story at least was better here compared to the anime, which felt way too rushed there in my opinion.

very interesting to learn this was supposed to be the end for Journey of Elaina. though one has to suspect the author himself didn’t mean that genuinely, just needed time to let it percolate perhaps.

I cheered audibly when Houki (Broomstick) showed up - One of my favourites from the manga which brought me here.

I’m so glad the series didn’t end here - We never would have met Amnesia’s forgotten homecoming (my favourite story in the series).
