Well, that was a depressing series... It's a shame that Yozo kept on doing stupid shit. Otherwise, he might have had a really good life with his wife. I can't believe how graphic this series was and it was labeled at 16+... LOL I accidentally read it in front of people.

FUUUU, that was really dark. Bought the last volume last year, and only had the time to finish it right now. It makes me want to read the original novel in the future. 7/10

Gotta agree with the dude above, pretty unsatisfying ending. If anything, it shocked me that all the people the dude was reading about in Youzou's diary are still alive and have barely even aged. For whatever reason I had it in my head he was reading a diary that was from atleast 20 years ago.

Either way, it was pretty decent I guess.

I don't remember exactly how I felt about the anime adaption, and I've never read the novel yet, so I can't compare, but having now read the first manga adaption and just learning that this is also an unfaithful flawed adaption to the original novel is somewhat disappointing.

If I ever read it, I'm not sure how much I would truly like it from its plots of Youzou's life, but I think it's at least decent, and intriguing to me at first from his psychology of being fake and lying to how conflicted he truly feels, and how he goes about life.
The first manga adaption was mediocre, even if it had some good elements to the tone and his mentality, on occasion.

This second manga adaption is "better", but frankly also mediocre.
The flow of the story flows- not flawlessly, but more naturally compared to the first adapation. The plots are clearer, but I was right to think that adaption also lacks the full depth of the novel since it didn't have every thought of Youzou, and having read a thread on here, skipped out on other events.

I think the overall atmosphere and aesthetic and the art of his imagination, then later delusion is at least decent, and arguably very good, but for me... without more insight to his mindset of the people he meets, it felt amiss when comparing to the good of the first adaption.

My biggest critiscm of the first adaption was that it didn't feel believable.
Now I understand better that it was because it was poorly paced and condensed to the timeline by completely skipping out on proper introduction and passage of time.
I'm still not sure how I feel about Youzou's life is in judging how good or bad it is as a story since I haven't experience the source novel, but even though this adaption feels better than the first, it's still flawed for not revealing the full core of the novel. 4/10.

ive never ever in my life read a manga that just describes how my mental is right now such a great feeling from escaping reality thinking im better than others fearing others no self worth the strict life style i've received but jt all went together that's how my life would turn out if i abandoned reason it feels so good that im scared shitless and wish i will never ever have the same result as yozo but who am i ? will i pull it out? will i become what he couldn't ? that was beautiful 10/10

Depressing as hell, didn’t even have the motivation to read it properly, just skimmed it to find out the ending. Definitely a brilliant piece of work, but even though I like dark/psychological stuff, it was too dark for my liking.

Very shallow compared to the novel. Based on the afterword even mangaka understood that he kinda failed to deliver.

I generally recommend the Novel, albeit I think it won't have as much of an impact after reading the manga either as it spoils too much and novel wouldn't give the same feeling as if one were to read it blindly.

A 6/10 since the original novel ideas were pretty good. Most likely the one novel that inspired the 'Metamorphosis' hentai doujinshi masterpiece too.
