Polnareff turned into a kid just because of a few seconds of exposure over Alessi's mysterious Stand. Jotaro didn't recognize him despite his very distinct appearance and things are not good for him at all.

I've seen child Polnareff somewhere before, but I thought it was just an artist's interpretation, haha. I had no idea it was an in canon occurrence.

I was speaking to a friend who thought I wouldn’t like Stardust Crusaders because I wasn’t a fan of Tarkus and Bruford. They assumed that monster of the week content isn't my cup of tea. Whereas this part is the least gripping for me out of the previous Jojo's, I find the reason I disagree with that assessment interesting. Whereas the monster of the week content, if advancing the characters and showcasing new interactions, is super fun for me. I dug Jack the Ripper with Zeppeli and Speedwagon’s antics and Jonathan being forced to grow. It was the stagnant character progress, interactions and exploration wise, that made me bored during Tarkus and Bruford. Stardust Crusaders while being largely in the format of those two: Bruford having hair attacks and fighting underwater, and Tarkus having a neck brace deathmatch similar to hypothetical stand battles and the two appearing only right before they are relevant, I do not think they have the same faults. That is because one of Stardust Crusaders strengths is in its cast being big and varied and having a constant focus on their interactions. There isn’t a feeling of character stagnation despite the characters feeling as if they have less motivation and depth. In this way, we can see how Araki can tell two wildly different stories, the small scale and personal, character-focused martial arts story, or the world spanning and often impersonal adventure full of antics and fun. The strengths lie in very different areas and I suppose Battle Tendency was a middle ground.

For instance, with Polnareff at the helm yet again, these arcs always bring something interesting. Alessi was targeted by the rare instance of Polnareff’s razor sharp wit. He did what I’ve thought they should do this whole time, use a stand only stand users can see and try to scare people with it. Take them by surprise and if they show any kind of reaction, that person you were suspicious of is now proven to be an enemy. Jotaro kind of this did this to Dark Blue Moon. Polnareff took the head on approach and scared the bumbling Alessi but those smarts left as he chased after him without alerting Jotaro of what he looked like. This would have stopped the gang splitting up and given Jotaro and the others great information for if Polnareff cannot handle it alone. Did you learn nothing from Abdul’s almost death!?

Either way, the stand of Alessi is terrifying, Polnareff is in a frail, kid body and his memories are vanishing. He couldn’t even remember Jotaro’s name. And I’m hoping Jotaro was observant enough to notice the identical hair and outfit, including earrings, that the kid he ran into wore and is just acting like he’s oblivious to that uncanny detail. With how he asked for a Frenchman, I doubt his memories of Polnareff are vanishing but I guess that’s not entirely off the table.

Araki dazzles again with yet another surprising and unique Stand! How will Polnareff get out of a situation of this scope?
