Adorable episode. We get a heartfelt glimpse of how Kyoko met Sochiro. Kyoko pulls an "umbrella gambit" - something we've all probably tried before.

Maybe we'll get to see it before the end?

In any case, we know he wasn't particularly attractive or drop-dead gorgeous, so this episode pretty much confirmed that Kyoko looks beyond the surface of someone's character and cares only about personality and probably some other unexplainable factor of attraction... XD Not that we didn't already know that or that it wasn't obvious already. Maybe this means Godai still has a chance - maybe a better chance than Mitaka?

Seems his looks are gonna be kept a mystery. Just a black figure, but clearly like you said he wasn't particularly attractive, and we also got the glimpse that he's somewhat clumsy and timid.
In a way this kinda implies that Mr. Perfect (Tennis coach Mitaka) doesn't necessarily have an advantage over Godai.

Nice to see that anime makers didn't show soichiro's face, any dead man treated as a ideal man; if they had show his face, we would start comparing between soichiro and godai.

Still so much to overcome but what a sweet ending.
I'll be seriously pissed if he fails to give her a Christmas present again.

I agree. Kyoko must have been attractive to Souichirou's quirks and didn't mind his outer appearance. I still think Godai has similar quirks to Souichirou, but Kyoko still hasn't let go of her "first love".
Also, this relationship kinda reminds me of Sakura's parents' relationship from Cardcaptors, only reverse(Souichirou was a teacher, now deceased, while Sakura's mom was a student, also deceased).
Lastly, Godai needs to stop brushing off Kozue and take her more seriously or else he'll hurt her feelings for not acknowledging her feelings for him.

I'm not a fan of student-teacher relationship. Oh well, that was Kyoko choice.

Ending was so cute. :)

This felt like an important episode.

Ah and finally something good happened to Godai during the rain, how cute.

Kyoko was pretty relatable, she looks past the surface and loves a person on the inside😊(I mean I'm like that IRL) although why the heck did she rushed to get married?

Love that ending ☺️. Daydreams do come true.

I could tell Soichiro was older from his previous appearance in the cooking episode but damn didn’t expect him to be her highschool teacher!

Indeed. It’s actually common in my culture as well but a male student marrying an older female teacher is pretty much unheard of here.

Yeah I think that cost her her college. But if they waited on the marriage any longer it’s possible that Soichiro would die unmarried. This way Kyoko would never form a connection with the Otonashi family and would never become the manager of Maison Ikkoku. This is an interesting alternate scenario as it makes you wonder how Kyoko would deal with Soichiro's passing then. Would she move on from her first love sooner or would she keep it forever having never met Godai in Maison Ikkoku? Even if she did meet him for the first time in the same area she wouldn’t be seeing him everyday. We also need to consider Godai was leaving his apartment in episode 1 but stopped after seeing the new manager. So he could've left the area entirely. The story of MI as we know it completely falls apart. Thanks if you've read through all my 'ramblings'.

So she likes them "dumb", uh.

Well, Yuusaku doesn't even have to try that much to be in a relationship with her.

Dang I didn't think Kyoko was into older men. I thought Soichiro was her high school sweetheart not her high school teacher.
I guess Takahashi want to make their relationship abnormal this series has been pretty normal.

Nice to see Kyoko and Kozue bonding over first loves.
Godai getting jealous of Soichiro again. He's a stubborn fool not accepting going the umbrella with Kyoko. She will get over him.

Nice episode overall.

I really liked the stuff with Kyoko’s past in this one, she was a cutie in high school as well, but I wasn’t expecting Soichiro to be her teacher, I can think of some people that would be seething if this came out today lol, but the truth of the matter is they did get together eventually so there’s not really a place to argue. I also like that they kept Soichiro’s face hidden, I can’t imagine he’s ugly but I like that it keeps the mystery perfect husband mysterious, also so we don’t find out he’s an alpha male and Yuusaku might as well pack his bags lol. Also Soichiro fumbling about is definitely reminiscent of Yuusaku’s own goofiness, I wonder if Kyoko has a type lol.

I also liked that Kyoko and Kozue shared a moment together, I thought these two wouldn’t be able to click but they seemed to pretty well, I’m hoping if Yuusaku ever truly turns down Kozue (if she’s actually going after him for real) she can still be friends with Kyoko. And lastly I really liked the rainy atmosphere of this episode, if only I would have watched this yesterday when it was pouring the rain it would have been perfect lol, but it really fit the vibe with Yuusaku never having a good rainy day and that umbrella scene from the past.
