| Nice work. The lame ending of the TV series has been rectified in this special edition. "No matter how many times flowers are blown away, we continue to grow flowers." This is the message "Gundam seed" series gave us. We still don't have any perfect answer against conflicts. In such a case, this is the only option we should take. We only do what we can do. |

| ORB NATIONALIST PROPAGANDA You let a war criminal escape into space to fire his space laser and you are not held accountable at all? LOGOS are still using Destroy Gundams, they never learn. Ok, ok, Durandal should have disarmed instead of reusing it and the NeoGenesis for his own goals... but ORB/The Archangel didn't help in preventing the Junius Seven fall that triggered the conflict nor what Djbiril just did to the PLANTs. Was it worth sacrificing lives to LOGOS even if it meant stopping Durandal at the end? Cagalli may have returned ORB to its founding principles but Yuna never should've been allowed to turn the nation away. The pacing in this arc is much better than in the TV series. But several scenes that were left out did explain Durandal's personal motivations for the Destiny Plan better. There's his relationship with Talia and the fertility problem among later-gen coordinators. More importantly, creating a world where someone doesn't have to suffer like Rau (which links to Rey's desire to take a different path despite facing the same destiny). Rau would take everyone else with him, but Rey would leave behind a better future. Durandal and Rey have flashbacks still but the visions of Rau "ghost" are few in this movie version. Having seen Zeta since the first time I saw SEED Destiny, I now recognise what Shinn seeing the Mayu and Stella's ghosts when he was attacking Infinite Justice was referencing. Even though the story has now made Shinn an antagonist, he's very much troubled by Stella's death. All those precious to him have been taken away, I really like the moment where he's angry at Athrun for harming Lunamaria in her Impulse. What's next for Shinn is that he will fight alongside Kira (now a whitejacket ZAFT officer; he's worn EA, ORB and ZAFT uniforms, now). Still funny how Lacus is dressed in all black like she's a villain who's taken ZAFT for herself at the end. Movie 1: 5/5 Movie 2: 4/5 Movie 3: 3/5 Movie 4: 3/5 |
