----------------------------------------
The beginning is very exciting, but the rest becomes a lot of boring. The changes in plot are very sharp. So, it's an average recap. But the battle scenes still good :)
This only reaffirmed why I hate Shin.
He goes from a whiney brat to a depressed brat to an angry brat.
So much wasted potetional. Really irks me. He could have been great. But because he wasn't Kira....he didn't sell well.
We open on Alex Dino quoting (or was he paraphrasing idk) genesis. That reference to Quattro in Zeta didn't last even an hour lol. and speaking of bad disguises, very obvious who the new masked blonde guy who can can sense Rey is.
Attempting to assassinate Lacus aside instead of reaching out to her, Durandal carries so much charisma, he's very convincing as a politician (plus he's has the same voice as OG Char Aznable!). In the first scene I was like who the hell does Cagalli think she is telling Durandal to disarm the PLANTs? The Holy Land attacking San Diego isn't enough justification for ZAFT to be concerned.. oh well the PLANT you are visiting just almost suffered the same fate Heliopolis did.
No Shinn coping a feeling from Stellar but he still gets to gattai the sword impulse. Athrun has not gotten rusty during peacetime.
I wonder did Athrun get formally discharged from ZAFT despite his defection at the end of the previous war? Guess he isn't carrying his ZAFT credentials to whip out since he was to play the role of Alex Dino.
The Minerva crew are very respectful to their foreign guest, but ORB refugee Shinn who sees himself a victim of the Athha's neutrality policy and cannot stand Cagalli professing her father's beliefs.
Durandal is smart, setting up Athrub who defied his father's dying wish to sortie in a battle against his predecessor's remaining loyalists.
Yzak is still the same old Yzak 😂 and Dearka still chill. Even Shinn is impressed at how the survivors of Jachin Due perform on the battlefield.
The Extended, rather than work with the Minerva towards the same goal, attack both rival-factions of ZAFT indiscriminately. This mission, against his father's legacy is something Athrun goes all in yo risk his life for and Shinn helps.
Despite the Minerva's and Joule team's heroism in stopping the fall, fragments still cause mass destruction across Earth. The extended got what they needed from that; footage that members of ZAFT caused the drop deliberately, and the secretive gentleman's club playing their billiards spread the propaganda to the Naturals and Earthdwellers. The masses will not care for the fact the legitimate ZAFT forces did all they could.
Durandal console Athruns. With imminent war, even his charisma calm the citizens, he opts for the most powerful figure propaganda piece of the last war he knows of; Lacus Clyne, but with her absence, he chooses the body double Meer Campbell; as long as the Coordinators thinks Lacus is there to boost their morale, it is enough.
Despite being a fan, he knows little of her personal life apart from that she was engaged to Athrun (but Athrun's heart has already moved onto Cagalli).
Little did Shinn know that ORB growing alliance with the EA is outside Cagalli's control, she inherited her father's position at a young age and the other elder politicians have the real power. A ship that was sheltered by ORB departs again, but this time, ORB is deliberately preventing them from returning.
Nice, Zips was used again in this movie for Shinn's SEED mode. He goes all ham on the EA and ORB ships. Using the deuterion beam to recharge mid-battle and swap out the Impulse's packs and parts, too.
War Hero Athrun rejoins ZAFT as a member of the prestigious FAITH in the ZGMF-X23S Saviour Gundam
