This kinda felt like a cheesy fantasy game, at least for Marshall's side of the story. I think this has been his personal journey in the virtual world.

Sam and Link's relationship is interesting. It's something new she hasn't experienced before, an emotional relationship that is new for her.

For me it’s a 2/5 episode, mainly because Ben, even though he was sick, kept playing the game after Monica repeatedly told him to lie down, take his medicine, and rest. I know it’s Ben’s decision at the end of the day, but that ain't how it should be.

When two people are in a relationship, they should act like a single unit. Ben, put yourself in Monica’s shoes, when she tells you to take care of yourself because she’s worried, you need to listen, otherwise, you'd worry your girlfriend, which just ain't cool.

I understand wanting to replay the game, and that’s fine, but health should always be the priority. Your priorities are out of order. You can get better, replay the game later without worrying Monica, and everyone will be happier.

The only thing I liked this episode was that Link, despite being horny, didn’t kiss Samara and risk their friendship. I loved that because I ship Samara with Charles, Ben with Monica, and Link with Angela. I really hope Ben and Monica make up soon, or Samara might steal him and turn into a homewrecker.

Bowser as a dragon? WTF? LOL Well, some games are like that, but I avoid those myself.

They ruined the most emotional scene of the entire webtoon: Marshall, submerged by guilt.

In the webtoon, it was way more impactful. Here, the viewer barely has the time to process the developer message "I dedicate this game to he, who always helped me during tough times, Marshall Law." Even worse if the viewer doesn't speak English; Marshall doesn't read the lines out loud, so no subtitles, only on the screen.
The facial expression, the animation (weirdly dynamic behind him), the dialogue, heck, even the music do not match the severity of this scene. This anime is officially irredeemable.

The scene held so much impact, and really made me empathize a lot with his character. How dare they rob it from us?
PLEASE go check out the actual chapters in which this takes place. Chapter 75-76.

Oh, how the relationships have changed, and Sam really has had character development to say what she wants now.

Marshall: “I called her game a piece of crap based only on the surface. Regret.”
~After replaying~
Marshall: “It really is a piece of crap!!!”
I think this is a natural reaction.

The dedicated to Marshall reveal was nice and it looks like Sam and Marshall will become an item. I guess it's great Marshall cheered Sam up revealing he likes her game after her rejection from Link too.

@choucreme Not only did they ruin that scene, they also dropped the ball with the changes for the end of this episode too. Damn near every change implemented from the source material has been for the worse. The only positive change for me has been adding extra scenes between Monica and Sam, but that has seemingly come in exchange for not properly developing the rest of the characters and story...

FYI, for people that want to read it the webtoon is on Tapas.

Silly Link not realising he's in an anime and that it's fine to kiss someone you see as a sister.

Absolutely called Marshall passing out. I'm glad I'm not familiar with the source material so instead of being disappointed in the adaptation I can just be whelmed.

@YudiYusantoS nah it's actually trash, it's pretentious, it's still a puzzle adventure game so it does belong to a category and if we judge it as a puzzle it's not good, as an adventure it's wack, I think she's going for a subversion but nothing was subverted honestly

it's quite annoying when these you have these guys as an option, Link and Charles are so bad and pointless, all that focus was pointless and lead to nothing

@Skuvan really brah that twink? Sam is just gonna be another number for that fuckboy, if he atleast has a six pack like Marshall I can excuse it but that twink don't deserve Sam, she deserve an alpha with a six pack, not the twink Charles or Link whose sexuality is questionable and very passive

@Skuvan genuine question - why do you use their legal names like 'Samara' and 'Ben' even when Sam goes by Sam and Marshall was uncomfortable with the name Ben and corrected Charles when called by that name? just curious because that's just not what they get called in the show.

@Rainime2005 Marshall Law is just too long to type, and I’m not even sure which is the first name and which is the surname. But since we know his real first name is Ben, that’s what I call him. Samara, however, has actually been called that by Charles multiple times, just not all the time.

@Haunt88 Ben is Monica’s. They suit each other and they love each other. Yes, he’s my favorite, but still, I don’t think it would be right for them to break up just so he and Samara could get together. I feel like that would be very weird. It would also ruin Samara and Monica’s friendship, which would be sad.

@Skuvan It's just Marshall. That's what everyone calls him. And fair enough, but if you really cared about the length then saying 'Sam' makes more sense, doesn't it?

@Rainime2005 Samara ain't nearly as long as Marshall Law, and it’s much easier to type. Also, Sam is an overused nickname, whereas Samara, her real name, is much more unique. So yeah.

@Skuvan with influencers, it's usually business relationship anyways, they probably started as one then just developed into a romantic one, with Sam it's way deeper compared to the business lovers, so it's more interesting with Sam imo

I felt like this episode was too forced, and only meant to move the plot along. It didn't really feel organic

I liked this episode as it drew some pretty clear lines between Loving someone and being in love with someone. In the case of Link and Sam it was very obvious they were there for each other through grief and struggles, but with her lack of experience it's easy to confuse those feelings. I also like the mental and emotional elements of this series and this episode. Clearing the waters between platonic love and romantic love.

I think it paralleled very nicely with the Ruminate story that Marshall was playing too! Not everything needs to be forced. In the case of the game it was brute force, which Marshall learned wasn't the case. Same with Sam and Link. Why try to force a relationship that was already perfect? Not to mention Link and Angela have WAYY more in common than Link and Sam. That has been very apparent over the last couple of episodes as they realized how they felt about one another.

Poor Marshall beating himself up though so it will be interesting to see how they conclude the next episode!

@Haunt88 I don’t actually disagree with you. I just feel like Monica would get hurt if that happened, and I don’t want her to be sad, because she’s been such a lovely character so far.

My favorite episode so far.
Let it be known, Link's an asshole. Not because he didn't share Sam's feelings, that's totally valid and he is allowed to feel the way he does. BUT DID YOU HAVE ALMOST KISS THE GIRL AND THEN DODGE IN THE LAST SECOND AGAIN?! I was so mad he did that bs again bro, like that's so foul.
Anyway, I love the section of Marshall playing Ruminate, and that twist at the end that the game was dedicated to him, yeah ngl that must suck.

Marshall being invested into Ruminate, as much as Monica has repeatedly warned him from time to time to take care of his health, of which his obsession now has no way of turning him back the path of his once demise. On the other hand, Sam having quite the romantic issue to progress with Link, even so much as a kiss, her making him come over to her place to spend more time with her as a last resort, not even Link can do the same to her, which makes their friendship in a really weird spot where they can only see each other not as close friends, but family and not lovers. I guess then, this is a closure to their episodes of intimacy fearing love and rejection in the wrong spots.

Back to Marshall, and him conquering Ruminate the way Sam wanted him to, eventually meeting the ghost princess and her telling her side of the story to him, doing whatever amends there's left to be done, like conducting a burial to finish the game off in its proper state, and getting the kiss from the ghost princess. The worse part - Sam dedicating Ruminate to him at the end of it all, and the damage already done to him as the ViewTuber who accused her game first before thinking much, it's atoning his sin both in his arrogance...along with his health in jeopardy.

How would Sam take care of Marshall at this rate...
