Yeah, that isn't any ordinary slime. They had to gather all the best magic users just to contain it...

As a testament of Arel's skills, he had to combine and use all those magic circles at once. This episode had that boss fight vibe but yeah, Arel pretty much was the difference maker.

Bro casually rewrote the rules of magic, humbled the headmasters, tamed a slime, and dismantled centuries of tradition, then dipped like it was just another Tuesday. Legendary behavior.

Loved the episode, 5/5 from me. I loved how Arel showed not just the headmasters, but all the students as well, how powerful he is as a Magelord when he used the Elimination spell to literally erase Gluttony Slime from existence, with the exception of the small, cute Pururu, haha.

Putting Arel and Pururu aside, am I the only one who gets reminded of Grimoire, Lloyd’s familiar from Dainanaoji, every time I see Matty? I can’t be the only one, right? The difference in animation quality between the two anime is crystal clear, but the similarity is still really hilarious, haha.

The 6 Schools' Magic Contest, where Arel meets up with every headmaster of the respective schools (except Black School), and therein lies quite the Gluttony Slime monster that's not weak by any means to deal them with quite the big threat. However, Arel has Mastema on his hands clearly knowing the threat of slimes like this one being from the demon realm, and the classless clearly knows how to deal with it, leaving the headmasters to defend their students from it.

Taking a page from his father and using all 6 magic attributes together, it's certainly taking on Arel's toll on his own, but together as a community, them all taking down the slime is a handy work. Of course, the headmasters knowing Arel's Magelord father Leon is stereotypical, though his priority of keeping it servant-like as a trash can, he's pretty much done his job within the City of Magic, as the supreme magic users are able to convene their efforts together to finally nurture future Magelords.

So, one good for the community, but outlandishly decent as a whole.

well, it is simply formulaic. wash. rinse. dry. repeat. first, he goes to The City of Swords, learns everything he can, and defeats a big baddie. second, he goes to The City of Magic and does the exact same thing. so now he's off to visit his family, then he will travel to The City of Monsters where he should learn some stuffs and probably defeat yet another big baddie.

ahh... one more episode left... i wonder if we will just see his moments at home with the redhead etc. before he trots off to The City of Monsters? will his 'girlfriend' join him on this journey or still remain at his home trying to learn the skills of a housewife from his mom?

@Skuvan meh. GI Joe toy-sized flying dude? reminds me of Senbi or Senbee (depending on which Romanji you like to use) from 'Oh! My Goddess'.

@KiliianSleipnir I haven’t actually watched that anime, so I neither know who Senbi is nor who Senbee is, haha. It’s just that the most recent anime I’ve watched where the main character has a familiar is Dainanaoji, just like Arel in this anime has Matty as his familiar, so yeah.

Yes, it's more of the same, and I bet the city of monster arc will also be more of the same. But at least I like the message that it'll be better if all magic colors united instead of divided, it's simple message but it's what the world need right now.

The black magic headmaster is officially dead, marking the first time someone died in this anime. But I'm not sad since he come back as a ghost LOL. Black magic is really something else. If I can enroll in only one school, I'd choose black magic school, it's also the only school that has demons, like extinction-threat level demons, several of them. What could go wrong!

Not sure if I need season 2, but I'll continue to watch.

@Skuvan that's ok, it is a bit of a groundbreaking and seminal piece of manga and anime history. firstly 'Oh! My Goddess' AKA 'Aa! Megami-sama!' was a manga that ran from 1988-2014. in the middle of 'The Otaku Boom' of Japan an OVA DVD disk/VHS tape set of 5 Episodes came out in 1993-94. the same year that 'Tenchi Muyou! Ryououki' put out its second set of OVA episodes... 1992-93. the two stories are similar in that both are credited with popularizing the 'living under one roof' ROMCOM genre. OMG was manga sourced urban fantasy with sci-fi elements. whereas TMR was all-anime original with zero source science fiction using fantastical elements. so, the two manga/shows/stories got the ball rolling for shows/books like 'To Love Ru' or 'Kamisama Hajimemashita'.

additionally, both stories transitioned into the TV anime surge... but OMG beat out TMR by releasing its theatrical movie in 2000. each franchise was dubbed for English audiences and yet unfortunately... TMR kept moving forwards through time (till highly recently with multiple ONA episodes). whereas OMG lost steam and only created 2 TV seasons of 'regular anime', 1 comedic 'Mini Goddesses' TV season, and a finale (to date) 2 ONA episodes.

so far, TMR looks like it will eventually reach a story completion point in anime... whereas OMG has seemingly 'vanished' from the anime adaptation cycles.

That’s crazy this anime is ending next week already 😭 first one to start and first one to finish. Went by too fast.

2:20 oh dear all the headmasters found out about Arel at the same time finally 🤣 I had a feeling

Interesting the title of this episode is the name of the anime “Mushoku no Eiyuu”. It’s not even the season finale yet 😮

12:00 I love how Arel doesn’t tolerate anything Matty says and instantly resorts to violence 🤣🤣🤣

14:45 BRO! AREL USING THE FUCKING SPIRIT BOMB AND EVERYONE LENDING HIM THEIR ENERGY! 🤣🙌🏻 fucking DBZ moment

18:10 bruh it’s a mini Sui from Isekai Campfire Cooking 🤣🙌🏻 or Piggymaru from Failure Frame 😅

Ending felt a little rushed 😅 but who was that lady spying on Arel? 👀

I hope we get to see both Raina and Lilia next episode 🙏🏻🤣

Anime lacks details and dept so bad, even though general concept is amazing
honestly this is such a weird anime.. they make each of his accomplishments so easy they are meaningless.. if they used clever time skips and training montages.. idk lol...

Man he's so nonchalant that it's so good, I can't believe I like this anime this much lol. His familiar reminds me of the one from that 7th prince anime
Mc done the same thing as his father...welll...in manga he finished that slime all by his own but in anime little changed..too bad I can't see his confession and other things...well..onto last episode..next week

With next episode as the season finale, I guess it will be a reunion with his family and Reiner, and maybe a set up for season 2?

I also didn't realise Arel's dad was so good that he could use all six types of magic at once to make some sort of matter destroying magic 😬

I'm really curious how they'll fit the arc into the next episode, because judging by the opening, there should still be an arc about Arel's older sister, but there's only one episode left. As for this episode, the new familiar is a cute vacuum cleaner.

His dad dropped out, but also went through every school one by one. So did he left having learned all he could from them just like Arel?

They were able to tell it was elimination magic, but I guess they didn't know it was all elements at once? Otherwise, why wouldn't they have figured out that to become the class that can use a spell of all elements at once would need to learn all the elements?

@KiliianSleipnir I haven’t watched much anime from the 1990s, aside from some of the classics like Ranma, Cowboy Bebop, Cardcaptor Sakura, and popular shonen series of the time such as Dragon Ball and One Piece. I do have some 1990s anime on my plan-to-watch list, though.
@Skuvan

considering that Cowboy Bebop was launched in the late 90s and didn't end with a theatrical release until 2001, I personally consider it a "transition anime" into the 2000s. but since it did start in the 90s, I agree that it's one of the "seminal finales" for anime in that decade. as for the other works you mentioned, they are indeed great. i haven't seen the live-action version of Cowboy Bebop myself, so \shrug/ i don't know what impact it has on the franchise. but it does keep the story "alive" a little longer. just like I haven't seen the live-action version of "One Piece".

if you are even remotely interested, you can look for OMG and TMR OVAs (occasionally found on some 'grey-web sites). but to find discs like mine? first pressing/release of the American English dub? well...you'd have to pay a pretty penny to get one from a collector like myself. i THINK Crunchyroll has gotten all of em? but don't quote me on that one. my memory of how the licensing of both franchises moved about etc. is very fuzzy!

OMG did "remake" those OVAs contents in the first season of its TV anime. so if you want, you can skip the OVA and watch the 2005 TV version directly. although i personally don't read the manga, i own both the TV version and the OVA... i don't mind the differences between the two in terms of storytelling, animation technology, design, etc.

the problems with the 'Tenchi-verse' are multifaceted. firstly, if you don’t watch the original OVAs, you’ll miss out on all of the beginnings of all the storylines. because the sequel directly advances everything chronologically. secondly, is that TMR launched an 'alternate universe' anime in the middle of its 'history'. therefore, it is not easy to parse the plots and events from StoryLine A of the first OVAs in order to separate them from StoryLine B's anime set in the 'alternate universe'. thirdly, there are spin-offs and side stories to SL A, and SL B. fourthly, there is a HUGE time-skip inside of SL A anime seasons' to approaching the !!ending!! of StoryLine A's whole complex multi-generational lifetimes' epic tale. "The War On Geminar"... that's the skip. fifthly? yep... five big problems! a giant GIANT chunk of StoryLine A has NO ANIME! there was a light novel series that covered the events in that missing part of the anime record for SL A. but nobody has seen fit to FULLY animate the "Tenchi Muyo GXP" experience. THAT is primarily found in the light novels. the original anime series (StoryLine A) was followed by some light novels written by Masaki Kajishima. these began in 2003 and effectively replaced the anime as the official version of the story. these novels delve into greater detail about the settings, characters, and plotlines. including the events in the 'isekai story' with magic and wizards. mhm. Tenchi moved from science-fiction with fantastical elements INTO an isekai story in a fully fantasy world. departure from reality/our universe into another universe and so forth. :D

recently, in the 'Tenchi-verse' there were a lot and i do mean a LOT of ONA anime episodes created to... bridge... from the ENDING of "Tenchi Muyo GXP" (everybody in isekai story comes home to Earth) to the BEGINNING of "The War on Geminar". then with the 'conclusion' previously made in 'Geminar' anime the new ONAs move the story forwards in time once more. but the 'isekai story' still to this day doesn't have an anime. :D

so a good number of folks curious about the 'Tenchi-verse'... are scared off by how... complex and intricate... it is. i say it is 'messed up' and a huge 'comedy of errors' with how the anime has told the stories since "Tenchi Muyo GXP" first aired on TV. but. \shrug/ i just have to accept how 'messed up' the 'Tenchi-verse' is and go along with it. :/ heh! \:

Honestly, I’ve been meaning to watch the live-action Cowboy Bebop, but the negative reviews really discouraged me. On the other hand, the live-action One Piece is outstanding. My father, who’s nearly 60 and has never watched anime, binged it in one day and loved it. That says a lot.

Good for you, but in my country, it’s very difficult to be what you’d call a collector, mainly because of the economy, but also because anime merch is very unpopular here. The most we can do to support people we like is subscribe to them online, and that’s literally it, haha.

@Skuvan yeah, i've read in many places that anime merch isn't easy to find round-the-world. online retailers do the best they can but... if you've got to eat the customs/import/export taxes along with the shipping costs yourself? plus getting a Region1 collector's disk set of a show to play elsewhere? you'd have to dig up a regionless player or buy a Region1 player from overseas.

but as the saying goes, sail the seven seas and find the anime content outside the lines of national boundaries and corporate structures. you may not support something by owning it/buying it yourself... but at least you've got that experience in your mind of watching it and can support the franchises in spirit.

your older dad loved the LA OP? hhahaha! that's so cool! :D my dad never 'really' understood my enjoyment of anime before he passed. he and i both loved the 1977 Hobbit animated movie by Rankin/Bass and the 1982 movie 'The Secret of NIMH' directed by Don Bluth. plus he and i watched several episodes of my Funimation EDub DVDs for FullMetal Alchemist 2003. he really enjoyed the art and animation for the fights and battles and was impressed on how technically advanced 'TV level animation' (as he called it) had risen to compared to Hobbit and NIMH and the few times he watched US Saturday morning cartoons with me while i grew up. but i think to my dad he never really 'got it personally' when it came to animation beyond Disney movies etc. he wasn't even all that interested in CGA or SFX in science fiction or RL drama shows. he was more into LA period dramas and historical dramas like 'Horatio Hornblower' starring Ioan Gruffudd and since he was an Air Force cop, police shows like 'Law and Order'. but my dad and i BOTH watched 'The Last Samurai' (2003) with Tom Cruise. as Cruise was a US Army officer and the setting was historical Japan... he and i both 'picked at' the historical errors and problems with the movie. me from my knowledge of Japanese history and smattering of interest in US Civil War period history and my dad's obsession with US Civil War events. we both gave THAT movie thumb's down. heh! i rented the DVD just as a 'well why the heck not?' for fun many years after it first came out in theaters... and when dad saw the title on the disk-case from Blockbuster... he laughed too and said, i think, 'Cruise in a Civil War era setting movie in Japan right? Ok, I've got the popcorn. You get the disk in the player and we'll see how dumb this one is!'

so to have a dad binging the OnePiece live action series? heh! cool! :D
