Combination of endurance and thick skin at what you want to focus on, are the best way. Specially thick skin. No matter what anyone says, you don't bend to their level. You take your own stand once and then move on. You just move forward like a horse in a race with blinders on their eyes that blocks the vision of everything around them expect the racetrack. The racetrack being your dreams and goals in life in that analogy. You don't want to let what others think or say about you get to you, but you also need to show them that you are not a pushover speaking for yourself. Out of sight, out of mind.
Don't be afraid of difficult things or pain. That's how you learn anything new and also build endurance.
Recently I've been hearing horror stories of youngster affected by brainrot to a level that they can no longer watch an entire movie, play an entire game, and some times not even watch an entire episode.
That's nonsense, they are just not studying and are terminally online 24/7. It's fine to indulge in content but not 24/7. Just don't do it 24/7. And do your homework properly.
I do remember, however, being way more impatient in the past: During the start of highschool, I remember that when I screwed up my time schedules and would take hours to fall asleep as night, I would get VERY anxious (Perhaps due to the lack of stimuli?), which I remember being akin to torture. When I was on college, though, taking hours to fall asleep was almost a daily occurrence, but for me it was no issue, since I would just reflecting on my own thoughts during that period (I still do it to this day).
Stop making a time schedule to sleep. Don't think of when you should sleep. Just turn off all the nights in your room and shut your eyes when you want to sleep. Don't think about about anxieties and let your mind take the wheel. It will work eventually, trust me. You are overthinking this process. You need to relax to sleep. You shouldn't make a schedule to sleep. You body does that naturally, you can't control it. Stop fighting against your body's clock.
Granted, that is still not enough for me: Though I frequently watch hour(s)-long video-essays, I have issues reading long texts. Though I can easily grind on a game at the same time that I pay attention to a 2x speed podcast about some interesting subject, I'm having trouble mustering my will to read "The History of Hentai Manga: An Expressionist Examination of EroManga" by author "Kimi Rito".
You don't have to read books. Audio is fine. Get into reading only if you are intrested. Not because you "want to". If you found reading boring that's fine. Not everyone is a bookworm. But surely, there are some better thinks to consider to read :^) |
