Recently I've been hearing horror stories of youngster affected by brainrot to a level that they can no longer watch an entire movie, play an entire game, and some times not even watch an entire episode.

Now, luckily, I have nowhere this level of impatience (Maybe because I don't use Instagram nor TikTok, but IDK), but it makes me so afraid that I want to get as far as possible from it.

I do remember, however, being way more impatient in the past: During the start of highschool, I remember that when I screwed up my time schedules and would take hours to fall asleep as night, I would get VERY anxious (Perhaps due to the lack of stimuli?), which I remember being akin to torture. When I was on college, though, taking hours to fall asleep was almost a daily occurrence, but for me it was no issue, since I would just reflecting on my own thoughts during that period (I still do it to this day).

Granted, that is still not enough for me: Though I frequently watch hour(s)-long video-essays, I have issues reading long texts. Though I can easily grind on a game at the same time that I pay attention to a 2x speed podcast about some interesting subject, I'm having trouble mustering my will to read "The History of Hentai Manga: An Expressionist Examination of EroManga" by author "Kimi Rito".

What are your tips to patiencemaxxing?

its hard since human brain is hardwired for instant gratification instead of delayed gratification so you see lots of people want things fast and now

plus willpower is limited unlike in anime and fiction

i guess google digital dopamine detox or fasting as a start

Play Oldschool Runescape and I mean really play it.

Spend 3 hours clicking in circles to get that one Agility level. Oh you're level 72? Remember level 92 is the halfway point bitch.

Its the internets man, I get a lot more work done when I am on my laptop in a train or outside than at my PC. Its difficult to focus on something if I do it on my computer 5 clicks away from Thug Hunters.

@Commit_Crime That only works if there's a sister who wants to be embraced, which unfortunately is too rare.

I played RuneScape 2 during my childhood, though I never went very far in it due to not knowing english (Yet somehow I remember having a full adamant set from the grand exchange).
My biggest issue with older MMORPGs is that I'm clueless without a guide.

Actively stimulating your brain with healthy activities. There is a wide range of stuff you can do, from playing chess, reading a book, daily exercise, studying a subject you are interested in, etc., etc. To truly become more patience though you simply have to push though the impatience. Eventually you will get use to it. Also don't look at brain rot content.

If you want a more interesting answer I've found that meditation can help me with my impatience, although that solution isn't for everyone.

Just meditate or otherwise not focus on the thing you are waiting for while you wait. If it's being able to sit through longer media then that's more an attention thing, you need to work on your ability to focus.

Combination of endurance and thick skin at what you want to focus on, are the best way. Specially thick skin. No matter what anyone says, you don't bend to their level. You take your own stand once and then move on. You just move forward like a horse in a race with blinders on their eyes that blocks the vision of everything around them expect the racetrack. The racetrack being your dreams and goals in life in that analogy. You don't want to let what others think or say about you get to you, but you also need to show them that you are not a pushover speaking for yourself. Out of sight, out of mind.
Don't be afraid of difficult things or pain. That's how you learn anything new and also build endurance.

Recently I've been hearing horror stories of youngster affected by brainrot to a level that they can no longer watch an entire movie, play an entire game, and some times not even watch an entire episode.

That's nonsense, they are just not studying and are terminally online 24/7. It's fine to indulge in content but not 24/7. Just don't do it 24/7. And do your homework properly.

Stop making a time schedule to sleep. Don't think of when you should sleep. Just turn off all the nights in your room and shut your eyes when you want to sleep. Don't think about about anxieties and let your mind take the wheel. It will work eventually, trust me. You are overthinking this process. You need to relax to sleep. You shouldn't make a schedule to sleep. You body does that naturally, you can't control it. Stop fighting against your body's clock.

You don't have to read books. Audio is fine. Get into reading only if you are intrested. Not because you "want to". If you found reading boring that's fine. Not everyone is a bookworm. But surely, there are some better thinks to consider to read :^)

Lol so you played it when it was still fun, as in the early levels except the grand exchange. That feature ruined the game and I will stand by that.

I have very severe ADHD and part of how I manage it without medication is reading a ton of books and taking the time to think "I should be off my phone now" and look around me while walking through a park. Reading and taking part in vigorous intellectual activities (I.E. My actual job as a PhD student, which includes grading papers and reading publications). Maybe reading books will work for you.

It depends on the source of the issue is. For people like myself, we tend to get easily overstimulated, and we tend to focus on say, content like Youtube shorts and television series primarily because it gives us something we can focus on that cuts down on certain times of stimuli we may otherwise be unable to deal with; in fact, a ton of people with autism, ADHD, and so forth do not so much fail to pay attention as they just shutdown and stop taking things in coherently.

Think of it like hearing a bunch of conversations instead of just one. My personal reaction is to to dull everything out while focusing on easily consumable content. So for me, reading and practicing focus in general helps.

Since likes, thumbs up, views, clicks exist, the latest generation has learned that without these you are worthless and therefore has made them extremely dependent on the approval of others, wondering where they are going wrong and how they can correct themselves when they are ignored, there is not even a need to discuss with people with different opinions, the network is so vast that it is enough to find groups of people with the same interests as us so there is also a loss of ability to compare with others, when you get used to always being right the ego grows out of proportion but can collapse like a house of cards also because the nature of the internet is unstable and can lead to losing mental balance, young people are also used to speed having access to everything instantly when something takes longer to be obtained it is no longer captivating. There is no simple answer to the problem other than using the internet in moderation and with the supervision of mature people. Mastering the ego and humility requires maturity and experience that cannot be expected from the very young however deviant behavior should be avoided during adolescent moratorium.

from playing chess

I did get to 900 elo on Chess(dot)com, back then I was also always watching videos about it to learn.
The issue is that I ended up developing "ladder anxiety", together with the facts that I felt bad about being unable to think long-term in a game, while still at the same time taking so much time each of my turns that I had to start paying the "15+10" format, because in the normal 10 minute one I would always lose because of time.

I'm only patient with things of shared qualities, ...and not a masochist to be patient towards things/people with which I share no qualities.

I'm blunt and prioritize simplicity rather than raping my brains off with things that are senseless to me and with the forced behavior of others.

Until you have complete conscious control over whichever bodily function you wish to cultivate (think holding your breath, etc.) it is subservient to natural cycles which are dependant on repetition. The reason people lose their ability to control their focus is because they seldom put themselves in situations where they don't have a choice but to do it. What you want is not just to repeat focus-building actions, but actions which eventually will give you the ability to focus and be patient on demand irrespective of the stimuli.

Breath meditation is great for this, accompanied by visualisation of something concrete which you have constant access to (your heartbeat & blood-flow, for example). Over time, the speed at which it will put you in the right state of mind will increase, to the point of being near instant. Once this is the case, you can start meditating on concepts which have no direct physical correspondence.

Reading is a simple and productive way of achieving a similar end, especially something with challenging content that requires you to potentially re-read sentences to understand fully what you're consuming. Audio-books and video essays do not suffice, they ask very little from you other than simply paying attention to a stream of information as it is suggested to you; you need to be the one in control of the experience.

If you have trouble with even these things then a total stimulus detox is necessary, like a vacation for your attention-span, where you allow yourself nothing which incites any notable mental response whatsoever. People generally have low willpower because they can distract themselves from facing the negativity of that reality, so removing any distractions and refusing them is key. This is the principle behind a lot of ascetic practice: if you lack the ability to commit good deeds, then stop committing any deeds whatsoever until you can try again.

No offense, but most stuff isn't worth paying attention to. The governments/ corporations are diverting people's attention away from important issues...like the structural inequalities of capitalism and the reality of NTHE. And they are focusing people's attention towards trival stuff. Like video games and anime.

There is nothing wrong with video games and anime. Per se. But they should not be the only thing people focus on.
