Hm, not a bad anime.
Solid 7/10 up until episode 4 or 5, then it got okay-ish and sometimes boring up until half of episode 12, the other half of episode 12 had some pleasent heartwarming moments with Lorraine and finally his adventure paid of by envolving.
I would dare to say that his relationship with Lorraine was the best part of this anime - no unnecessary melodrama, no forced romance - things flowing naturally and smoothly between both.
I would rate this anime 6.5/10 if it was possible. I wish I could give a 7, but for some reason I am leaning more towards 6/10.

Pretty mediocre/average overall. That pet rat felt totally out of place. This is really just a story about vampires apparently, not so much "adventuring". Let's not forget choosing the same name as his real name for his alias...
| @HagePotPotato Haha, that rat did feel out of the place. It's way too comically drawn/animated but then again, replace it with a cat and it's the same thing in many fantasy anime. Rat just looks sillier than a cat familiar because we aren't used to it. Anyway, I enjoyed this anime and would actually like to see a season 2 where he actually grows stronger and goes on an adventure to a new town/city. |
| I was expecting Rentt to be inspired to adventure, but I wouldn't of bet on it being from such a tragic backstory. Also, if there were any doubters, Lorraine's speech definitely made her and Rentt the OTP. This anime was pretty enjoyable, I'm always a sucker for the underdog reaching greater and greater heights and that is done pretty matter of factly with him going from skeleton to ghoul and to now vampire. I do hope this show gets a season 2, just so I can see what he does and what he can do now with his vampire form. |

| Loved the Japanese SUB & English DUB, great voice actor choices on both. Loved the characters, interactions, dialogue, and events. Loved the art, backgrounds, animation, and graphics. Love the music, sound, mixing. Such and underrated anime. I am really hoping for a second season. |
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating. |
| This anime is about a careless adventurer who died, but still alive (have a consciousness as a human) as a zombie bcz of "strong will" on his heart.. Later he keep evolving as a monster into more humanlike form monster.. Sometimes its boring.. I want to see more of their relationship development, rather than stupid evolution.. The feeling u get similar to Frieren, bcz of it is background music.. 8/10 from me.. All dirty mind go to her boobs 😑 It is like.. All anime today are like this.. It is hard to watch "normal" anime.. |

@1List2RuleThemAl i don't really care that it was a rat. i care that it was a rat that understood language and communicated with the undead adventurer guy. it was so lame. adding some stupid, cutesy(?) familiar/pet halfway through the season was horrible
| @HagePotPotato Familiar's are supposed to understand the people they belong to, so it makes sense it understood the language. Again, replace the rat with a generic cat in every other anime and you have the same thing happening. Also, a rat is technically going to be smarter than a cat anyway (like dogs are smarter than cats), so it makes more sense for a familiar in a fantasy world to be more communicative. *shrugs* |
| FLUTRE MUSAK!!! I gotta have more Flute BAYBEE!!! Needed more though :P Coulda been better, and had something more I dunno...more music, bit more battling, adventuring and leveling up...NUANCE! NEEDED MORE!!! 6.5/10 and 2nd season will be in a year or two probably...wtf with the "dragon" that looked like a dang angel form Evengelion tho? roflolmfao :P Nice enough show though. |
| This anime balances the moments of action, humor, and character development. It's been a while since I've enjoyed watching anime, hopefully, we'll get a season 2 soon. |

| This is such a rare find of a gem I didn't realize this was aired last year it completely flew off my radar since I was so keen on isekai genre that I forgot fantasy anime/s exist as well anyway it has an interesting premise and this my first time seeing this kind of story I don't know if this will get another season so I'm eager to check the source material to see where the story goes. The OP and ED song is so good this anime is 10/10 for me |

Score: 8/10 by me on MyAnimeList Finished on: 15th August 2025 at 17:38 Hrs IST Alongside "Saihate no Paladin" (The Faraway Paladin), this has earned a place among my favorite old-school fantasy anime. It’s not revolutionary, but it’s rich with heart and character growth. I wouldn’t mind a second season at all. Welcome home, Rentt Faina. |
