I feel like they kinda downplayed the use of dark magic, and first intro for Falon as a cute little sister that could've never come back was a bit unnaturally executed. The typical shenanigans of the show continue tho, and we got to see more the bond and Falon's ability to see the dead nearing the end so the flaws and peaks balance out somewhat.

Falin's back but looks like she's stronger than before, and the dark elf at the end is probably the dungeon master.

Marcille is a bit of a Mery Sue in this episode, but the anime itself is so good that I forgive him for that.

This episode is really intense, but the art style really stands out here. I also didn't think we'd see this level of development for the party, but here we are.

I already like the group dynamic way better with Falin in the group. Also seems like the atmosphere of the show ill change in the second cour, hopefully for the better.

Well damn they can even revive people that were eaten for days and digested, ain't that convenient, I'm not complaining though, I'm glad she's alive and this episode was pretty good.

I just wish they stop shoehorning the comedy in the serious moments, it ruins it for me and I hate it and it's one of the main reasons I hate FMAB, that anime sucks at it and shoehorns comedy in almost every single serious moment and I hate it, I want a serious moment to stay serious, the thing I hate the most about an anime is having a serious or emotional moment being ruined with a badly placed comedy.

Though Falin is back, the dark nature of her return surely keeps us suspicious no? And it looks like the elf from the paintings is back! I bet those paintings had the history of this Castle Town, and it's linked with its current demise!

And I guess that wraps-up the first arc. Pretty neat, it's nice to see the group be reunited, and I'm hoping Falin will get more interactions with Senshi and Chilchuk, considering she doesn't know the former and she didn't get any scenes with the latter. And I'm curious to see what that elf character is gonna do (most likely it's a new villain).

Also, I want to fuck Marcille.

Mission completed, welcome back Falin. Those scenes with Marcille and Falin, the best part. She was the happiest to see her again, so cute. Senshi, the only one who would think in eat a dragon. Something is different on Falin, I already know that spoiler. The elf from the painting is back, he is going to be important as I guessed.

Holy dragon, Marceille was badass! A hidden side to the previous, shall I say, *girl-failure* (lovingly). Just this serious vibe with her and dark magic, like she’s the undertaker or whoever mans the ferry to the underworld as Laios pleads with her to bring back Falin.

Slightly funny that the music used after the bones were arranged sounds just like the music used for when a good meal is ready! She’s not a meal!!!

Didn’t realise that dark elf at the end was the same as in the paining! I was hoping she’d appear some day as she keeps popping up in the intro with her blue coat for a bit.

Falin, gets eaten by a dragon, revived using dark magic and flesh from that same dragon… and ends up with the power of a dragon!
… this does have me worried that

Also the harsh reality of life. Go halfway through hell and heaven to save your sis, and yet you’re still broke and barred from getting money in the dungeon. Real life intrudes always… or rather, surface life intrudes.

I'm a bit torn. I HATE resurrection as a possibility in fiction in general, and manga/anime in particular. That said, I love how wholesome Falin and her dynamic with Marceille and her brother is so I can forgive this. Just about.

What a massive asspull.

This is writing 101, don't pull out stunts in the heat of the moment. Making Marcille an expert in black magic is just another level of cheapness. Kinda reminds me of the cheap writing in Kanata no Astra with glasses-kun being able to build and repair anything in a spaceship out stranded in the middle of another galaxy.

I know for sure more than one will say "bUt sHe hAs bE3n StUdInyIng bLack maGikS wItHoUt teLlIn anYoNe" and with that line of thought she could also be studying rocket science and people should buy it just because the author said so. The icying on the cheap narrative is that she also knows human anatomy just as good or even better than an actual physician. Also quite convenient that the dungeon only keeps humanoid souls trapped but any other creature they are free to go (don't want to resurrect your waifu with half dog soul, don't ya?)

And of course, the fanservice also has to be part of the narrative, because how else can you keep interested on the horny kids that watch this show just for the waifus.
@Kimurah I totally agree. The entire plot here is propelled solely by deus ex machina moments. It looks incredibly contrived when a character suddenly, out of nowhere and for no reason, turns out to be a mega-expert in dark magic and starts performing some wild rituals. Though, judging by everything, the average viewer will gobble up anything as long as it just looks pretty and epic.

I don’t understand their explanation from this episode about how you can resurrect a person by sacrificing 40 pigs or goats. Do they have gigantic herds of animals grazing in the dungeon? Because earlier it was said that resurrection isn’t possible outside the dungeon. So the resurrection rule doesn’t actually hold up? Or are there somehow constant incredible deliveries of tons of livestock into the dungeon all the time?

The humor, which takes up probably 40% of the runtime, is likely the most boring I’ve seen in the last 20 titles I’ve watched—literally like Konosuba seasons 2–3, but completely toothless. And the local waifus generate zero interest because of their constant whining. The cooking, which also eats up about 40% of the time, doesn’t spark any interest either. So in the end, I’m watching this for the remaining 20%, hoping that at least something interesting will happen in this fantasy world, although the setting is, once again, just standard D&D.

@OrigamistToo You're trying way too hard to sound smart and cultured. If you don't like this series then just drop it. Nobody wants to read essays responding to other essays where its just two dweebs jerking each other off about how the good thing is actually bad and everyone else is dumb for liking it. Especially, whining about how the cooking and comedy are uninteresting parts in a comedy series about cooking just makes you look like a fool for wasting this much time watching it.

I also think the idea that Marcille knowing dark resurrection magic being a shitty deus ex machina is also desperate nerd complaining. Personally I don't really care that a comedy series might fudge the rules a bit but this isn't even that. Its not like the series established any reason she couldn't resurrect Falim. And I assume there's going to be some sort of fallout from how she did it exactly because they even said it would've been possible to hire someone and then bring them down and do it but that would've been really boring and dumb. Like, why would anyone think that would be better storytelling?

Anyway, at the risk of turning in yet another dumbass essay nobody is going to bother reading: this episode was fun. This series is really good. The cooking conceit isn't quite enough to keep a show running for more than a handful of episodes so thankfully the comedy is very funny. Now that the main goal has been achieved we'll see if the main plot continues as something interesting or if it becomes complete window dressing.

"You're trying too hard to sound smart and cultured." Thanks, that's just who I am.

"If you don't like this series — just drop it." Unfortunately, I've already finished watching this boring crap at 2x speed.

"how the good thing is actually bad, and everyone else are idiots" Honestly, this is the umpteenth time I'm convinced of it. Normies gobble up any slop as long as it's wrapped in a pretty package.

"Especially whining that the cooking and comedy are uninteresting parts in a comedy series about cooking just makes you look like a fool who wasted so much time watching it." But isn't it possible that both cooking and jokes can be presented in an interesting way, and this series, in my opinion, just fails at it banally? Well, I guess if you devour every slop out there, then yeah, everything's fine for you.

"Personally, I don't really care" — the guy barges onto a forum to argue with other people just to say he eats any slop and absolutely doesn't care how it's served. Brilliant, dude. If you have no taste and you're fine with twists pulled straight out of someone's ass on the fly, that's your problem.

"The series didn't establish any reasons why she couldn't resurrect Falin." They discussed all these resurrection rules in advance multiple times, only to now just invent some scary dark magic that completely ignores them. Before this, there wasn't a single mention that she even knows how to resurrect, the plan was to bring the corpse up to the surface levels.

"Seriously, who would think that would be better storytelling?" Well, for slop lovers, of course, the best storytelling is when characters suddenly turn out to be masters of black magic midway through the story.

Anyway, f off, bore. Reading your rants about your lack of taste is extremely uninteresting.
