The Dragon's Sanctuary is no longer out of reach, and danger lurks at every corner while the Demon King Swedenborge is at awakening anytime soon from the usage of the Second World-Seeing Tower. And now, Claiomh wants to enable the Tower to stop Corgon with the pact of the Deep Dragons, though her chance of getting killed by him is much higher than her surviving out of this alive, much less Leki being one of mind with Claiomh that it has to be separated from the pack to ensure that both would live.

Corgon vs. the 3 controlling Childman Network of Almagest, Azalie and Lottecia, with the rest around, this is a real emergency now, even to Lottecia, who felt betrayed by him after all the while. With that, Orphen is left to fend for his own to defeat the Demon King, which after the ordeal, Leki left one of the pups behnd for Claiomh to take care of with Majic.

The End of Kiesalhima, calling the final events of the final volume.

I can't truly understand what's going on but Orphen's logic is full barrier is better than partial barrier, but no barrier is better than partial barrier.
At least I'm excited that Orphen is the one who's in control, he deserve it.

This episode wraps the end of the 20th novel. Too bad it wasn't the season finale, the events in Orphen's ultimatum towards the gods had a bigger narrative impact in the novel. The scene in between Orphen and Azalie is portrayed differently in the color illustration.

His reaction was more tender, somewhat bittersweet compared to the anime, if you consider both color illustration and this excerpt from the novel:

He looked more cold hearted in the anime, I prefer the novel approach to be honest. Now, a piece of lore was cut during this part which I believe to be worthy a mention, the  Miðgarðsormr. Orphen, as I said in other threads, is based on norse mythology, so the  Miðgarðsormr plays an important role in the world events:

In Norse mythology, Jörmungandr (Old Norse: Jǫrmungandr, lit. 'the Vast gand', see ), also known as the Midgard Serpent or World Serpent (Old Norse: Miðgarðsormr), is an unfathomably large sea serpent or worm who dwells in the world sea, encircling the Earth (Midgard) and biting his own tail, an example of an ouroboros. As a result of it surrounding Midgard (the Earth) it is referred to as the World Serpent. When it releases its tail, Ragnarök (the final battle of the world) will begin. Jörmungandr is said to be the middle child of the trickster god Loki and the giantess Angrboða. According to the Prose Edda, Odin took Loki's three children by Angrboða – the wolf Fenrir, the goddess Hel, and the serpent Jörmungandr – and removed them from asgard (the world of the Æsir). The serpent Jörmungandr was tossed into the great ocean that encircles Midgard. There the serpent grew so large that it was able to surround the Earth and grasp its own tail. The old norse thunder-god, Thor, has an on-going feud with Jörmungandr in their epics and the two can be seen as archfoes. During Ragnarök, Thor and Jörmungandr will fight each other to the death.

Trivia aside, the magic scene was toned down a "little" in the anime, probably due to budget, which is a shame, I was looking forward to watch it. I mean, it happened quite the same(ish) as described but it could have looked more ominous, bigger, you name it. Then we go the book's epilogue which is Cleao in the hospital. The book ends in there with this picture of her:

Then, we're left with the next episode teaser. "But if the novel is over, why there's another episode?" Well, here's the thing: the novels ran from 1994-2003. In 2009, Yoshinobu Akita decided to release the Yoshinobu Akita Box, which has some spin-off stories, some Reckless stories and a story, which was later republished as a standalone book, called The End of Kielsalhima, and what's the next episode title?

Yup. But it's not a short book, it has the same(ish) lenght of book 20, so summing down a whole book into 1 episode kinda sucks, IMO this should be a movie, but I'm no billionaire with power to fund the stories I like, so I guess I gotta suck it up. Anyway, here's the textless book cover:

Yeah, Cleao got a new haircut but apparently it won't happen in the anime. After this story, time leaps 20 years in the future with Orphen in his 40s. This is no spoiler, it's in the next book summary. I just don't know if this new series will get anime, I hope not, really, cuz they didn't get any english translation (including the End of Kiesalhima novel) and I don't want to settle for a rushed adaptation. Anyway, here's the first illustration from the book, connecting to the 20th novel epilogue (virtually the same scene, but different drawing ofc):

That's it, see you guys next week and I won't be making any book comparison anymore cuz I can't read japanese and since Orphen is a seinen series, it'll probably take me more than 5 years of hard study to finally read all that kanji.

I told you guys it would be anti climatic, even more than the first anime XD but I thought it would be the finale. We'll have a "proper" closure next week, details on my big ass comment.

I don't really know what to say.
The Sanctuary conflict ended in an abrupt manner and the hospital scene almost felt like it was set inside some sort of wacky dreamlike limbo, but then the final episode's preview kicked in and cemented all this stuff is one hundred percent real.
Let's see how this story ends.

Deep Dragons totally clutched it. Quite like mini Leki at the end, was like a baby yoda moment.

I never thought I would watch another anime like G Reco, where you know everybody is gonna die if the hero doesn't do something, but have almost no idea what else is going on in the story. It's actually kind of amazing. I wonder, if I wasn't an older anime fan that never got to watch the original Orphen anime, if I still would have given this anime a chance.

Probably not.

At least Majic and Claiomh ended up being useful in the end. I just wish Azalie didn't have to die. Multiple times. Orphen deserves to be with his OG true love.

This anime reminds me of the Shaman King remake from 2021. There just wasn't enough money or episodic length to match what the story needed to be told the way it deserved. But at least we get an actually ending unlike Cyborg Soldier 009 where the mangaka died while finishing the final arc of the manga. Which meant the anime adapts the story up till that point and then ends with no resolution.

At least we will always has Dio's Seiyuu as Name showing us how much fun it is being a villain for villiany's sake.

Almagest and Lottecia, artificial humans died. Azalie died too. That was too many deaths of major characters in one episode. Corgon thought he could be the Demon King, but Krylancelo got to be it. Orphen onto his journey, all alone.
