Can I watch it without watching any other gundam?

I haven't seen any other gundam, and watching every one of them will probably take months if not years. So, can I watch it without watching any other gundam?

No but you only need to be familiar with the original series.
The original series has been recompiled into three films and they are on netflix so you can go this route if you don't have time.

Watch it after watching through to the point the the White Base docks in Belfast in the original series. IIRC, the first summary movie also ends at about that point (I might be slightly off), so you could watch that instead, (at the time I write this, the first three summary movies are on Netflix in the U.S.), instead of having to watch about have way through the original episodes (Crunchyroll). There's a small storyline discontinuity between when the lost episode is set (what this movie replaces) and when the movie itself is set.

This Doan's Island episode is basically an expanded version of the fifteenth episode by the same name of the original 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam series. In order to enjoy the movie fully, you can either watch the original series and stop at fifteenth and watch this movie or you can watch the full series and then watch this movie. As the user above wrote, Mobile Suit Gundam has three compilation movies available that provide the same stories as the series.

If you want a shorter Gundam series that doesn't require watching any previous series, I recommend Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket, a wonderful 6-episode anime and one of the best entries in the franchise.

The movie is a more detailed version of episode 15 of the original Gundam anime.
You need to know what comes before it to fully understand the protagonist’s personality and relationships with the White Base crew.
