the animation style

the discussion of whether or not it was 'bad' or 'good' aside, the animation felt similar to Shaft a loooot in some places imo (perhaps more specifically the monogatari series); I might just have no idea what I'm talking about, but I swear Ooishi looks at times like an older/fatter version of Kaiki (here for instance https://tenor.com/view/higurashi-gou-rika-oishi-gif-19623850 ; it's ep 10 or so) or that famous head turn (https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/308602699018928129/839809173109735444/unknown.png ; it's the 2nd arc, so ep 6/7); the eyes are pretty Shaft-ish too, despite the studio and staff being completely(?) different. That said I watched monogatari what feels like ages ago.. Any thoughts?

Haven't watched Higurashi yet, but maybe because it has the same character designer as Monogatari, Akio Watanabe.

It's similar to monogatari not shaft in general because the character designer is the same.

I liked the style "Keichi Mebara" was the only one who's style I disliked.
