| So I had this question and I didn't know where to post it, I wanted to post it on anime discussion or manga discussion so I will post it here I guess. But the question was ''why are not all visual novels on MAL?'' I mean the visual novels that has an anime you would see the original visual novel and the anime adaptation. like steins; gate anime and steins gate visual novel But sometimes without an anime adaptation you would just see it like x change. But some other visual novels aren't on MAL. So Can someone pls explain this to me Why not All the visual novels are on MAL instead of just having some of them? |

| The Steins;Gate VN you linked is not a VN, it's a manga. The X Change link leads to a page that claims it is simply a novel, leading me to believe it's not a VN at all. As far as I know this isn't a matter of ALL VNs not being on MAL, but that NO VNs are on MAL, so I'm a bit confused about the question. |

VNDB has tons of database on it, although some VN-based anime like Steins;Gate have Visual Novel sign on it as a source, and it's not considered to be in Visual Novel database in MAL since VNDB (once again) own these databases. |

A quick Google search is all it takes to prove this. Steins;Gate X Change There are VN versions of these, but novels were released as well, and THAT is what MAL has in its database. |

You aren't actually reading the pages I sent you; it's like you're looking for the first thing you can find to disprove me and ignoring the parts that prove my point. The evidence is clearly there for you to see. Let me break it down for you. For Steins;Gate, the 5-novel series is listed slightly further down the page and the first volume is the same cover as the one you linked. Literally just scroll down and look for the cover that matches the MAL page that you linked. You will see that there is a 5-volume LN series, which is what MAL has listed in the database. As for X Change, yes it was a VN first, but they released LNs as well. The link I provided takes you directly to the place on the page that shows the list of volumes, publisher, authors, and ISBNs. Even just looking at the table of contents shows that there is a section for video games (the VNs) and Novels (the LNs). |
