If you have Amazon Prime, you're in luck. If you're a pirate, you don't give a shit anyways.

What are you guys' thoughts? I used my free week to watch Made in Abyss then immediately canceled, but now that their catalog is Prime I'll be using Prime Video a lot more.

This is great news. I haven't watched their exclusives - I meant to binge watch them all during some slow month - so I will be taking advantage of prime access at a slow pace
Anime exists

WOOOOH! Just got an email about this from Amazon and came immediately here to see if there was a thread. This is great news for viewers, no more double paywall to take advantage of whatever shows Amazon simulcasts, and if they keep getting some of the best shows of the year like they did in 2017 (Made in Abyss, Inuyashiki, Land of the Lustrous) then we can keep watching them without having to pay extra! I just hope that this isn't a big loss for the production companies who make these anime, I'm afraid I don't really know how all of that works...

Now if Netflix starts simulcasting in the US, it'll officially be a great year for anime fans even before accounting for quality of shows. (Seriously Netflix, can we please just be allowed to legally keep up with the conversation on Winter 2018's most anticipated show? PLEASE?)

Finally it's a normal service instead of a double paywall. Only took amazon a year to figure out how to be a reasonable business model. Well, good for prime customers.
I probably regret this post by now.

The evil has been defeated!

Too bad for shows that got held hostage by it when they came out.

I pirate but from what I've read this was a lousy service. A double paywall? That service was never going to succeed. They made the right call making it free with Amazon prime.

Was this even in the uk? I have a free prime trial and amazon video is still really crap.
Should have read the article first. No new anime for us.

Of course they'd discontinue Anime Strike just a week and a half after I was finally able to subscribe to it.

Well, at least we won't have to pay extra for it anymore.

Did they not refund you or inform you prior to shutting down the service?

I’m happy this happened, amazon strike was obviously a cash grab but now its great that if you have amazon prime you can watch the exclusive anime’s if you have prime for free

Well all the shows from Anime strike will go to prime, which means that ppl outside the us can watch it (hopefully).

They probably looked at Netflix.

I don't use any streaming sites so it wouldn't affect me. I prefer hard copies of my anime if I'm going to bother to pay for them at all.

I don't have any complaints with this, I'm more just bemused about the near-perfect comedic timing of this whole thing from my perspective. Still happy they finally made this change.

Eh I prefer a good streaming site.
If I want to buy shows then I have to import it which kosts on top of the already expensive show. I rather just import merchandise like figurines and stuff.

I'll use streaming sites online to watch anime not available in my country. But if I am able to buy it, then I like a hard copy. How comes you need to import it though? I guess you're in a country with not much anime available since there's quite a lot I can buy here in the UK.
