This is a future (even if alternate, but would love if canon) where Madarame and Saki are together after she broke up with Makoto. In the chapter where they talk about baby names with the grandmother, Madarame tells the grandma when Saki is in the bathroom that "He loves her name". He wanted to name his daughter after his wife from the start and the grandma knew that. |

I can't remember the exact chapter and it wasn't implied it was inspired by that mahjong-playing protagonist (Genshiken started in 2002, Saki in 2006) but it had some other otaku-ish connotations IIRC. |

| Sincerely hope that this isn't the final chapter. Genshiken has ended, and I can understand why the creator wanted to wrap that up, but us fans still long to continue in this world the creator created. Edited from original post on 2016 in 2021. |
