The trailer came out a couple of hours ago for backers of the project: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1311401276/little-witch-academia-2/posts/1252124

Also, it will be out in the theatre in Japan in October, with a pre-airing event at Los Angeles' Anime Expo in July.

And as for those of us who aren't going to be there?

We are also aware that not everyone will be able to attend the premiere event. Therefore, we have decided to provide the digital contents as the premiere starts so all of our backers will be able to enjoy the episode at the same time!

Physical copies arriving around August time.

I'm actually quite surprised that I'm still excited for this, but I'm still looking forward to it as much as I was back when I first found out about it.

Can someone explain what is this? Just a single episode? Will this anime get a proper season? Or just 1 single movie?

Really hope it would be a proper season... :)

It's a 40 minute long short-film sequel to the original.

A 15-min longer sequel is pretty much an improvement already. And maybe it's for the best as it stays unique in what it's doing. Even though the potential for a 12-episode series would be there without doubt...
