| Man,that archpriest guy is getting on my nerves.He has an overwhelming flatness to his character and yet i care enough to hate him.I hope Daryun takes care of him in the near-hopefully-future.I don't agree with Daryun's diagnosis about Lusitanians during that book burning scene.I think the fact that they've distrubited that book to even low ranking members of their society tells a lot about their scholarly capabilities.They've probably succumbed to a some kind of regressive era,one or two generations at best.I wish the show can explore the intrigues of that society tbh,probably not going to but still. |

| The Lusitanian King is so infatuated with the Parsian Queen that he's willing to look past her different faith and make her his empress, but it's also quite practical; keeping a symbol of Pars alive is the key to conquering with less effort if he were an all-out zealot like the archpriest. A religious fanatic, he burns the preserved culture, art and scientific knowledge of Pars and a soldier who suggests at least keeping the medical text. Such a grave insult to the people of Pars will never get them on their side. Such a tragedy especially angers future court-painter Narsus. Caring so much for religious purity, the archpriest is contrasted with another devout follower of Yaldabaoth, the slave-turned-soldier Etoile, who does not tolerate the soldiers in his unit abusing the locals. Meeting Arslan again for the first time in years, Etoile been indoctrinated with widely exaggerated descriptions of Arslan and Andragoras, not realising that Arslan is that "spoiled rich kid" right in front of him. Last time Arslan thought the Lusitanians were better off as slaves, while now he agrees with freeing them, he still sees the contradiction of the faith of Yaldabaoth advocating for equality yet waging war against those who don't believe. "He's not my friend" lol. Last time, Elam escaped because Etoile was faced with the slaves that Lusitania did not yet free. Etoile has no answer but to give his acquaintance a holy book. Daryun is a name to be feared, the tag team of himself and Narsus easily counter the traitors who are without Kharlan. Engaged in an epic fight with Silver Mask, the burn on his face is seen in full. A memory of what Andragoras did to him? |
