| soukyou no fafner dead aggressor, it can be lighthearted at points but it always rings it tragic head around sooner or later to ruin everyone day, very bleak series. Has a sequel airing right now that looks like its gonna finish off the rest of the surviving cast just to add onto the tragedy. mobile suit gundam war in the pocket is one of the harshest and most brutal looks at the consequences of war(and yes its standalone you need no knowledge of the other installments), its first half is very calming and fun but the second half will break you, its only 6 episodes long but is one of the best stories ive seen in an anime, despite the old age the production values are outstanding and outdoes many movies. Likewise if your ok for a long one LOTGH is a extremly depressing and bleak show, it is one of the best showcases of corrupt society cause the show has 2 protagonist which you shift perspective between with both of them being on oppossite sides of a war, you get to see the corruption in democracy as well as a totalitarian government as well as how the shifting advantage of a war affects both sides. gungrave is definetly a really dark show that will kick you while your down, (skip episode 1 btw it spoils the entire show and isnt needed to understand the story at all, just keep in mind it is a sci fi series) Has one of the most depressing but memorable endings ive seen to a show Now for the all time champion of suffering and misery now and then here and there i wont even describe this show, the harshness this show portrays is simply ridiculous. I dont recall any torture scenes but really everything the character go through can only be described as torture. |
