Black Butler is kind of a big deal. The manga has sold over 20 million copies and despite being released in 2006 (with the anime debuting in 2008), it continues to be recognized as a relevant brand in the anime world, with an animated movie adaptation being green-lit for release in early 2017.
Taking this into consideration, it is no wonder that the series has spawned some of the coolest figures out there - some of which we are going to show you today!
The figure opening our list is a figure of Sebastian Michaelis that comes from Square Enix as a part of their Static Arts series. This 24 cm (9.36 inches) Oikawa figure was released in late June 2008. Sebastian, who got 1st place in an official character popularity poll, is depicted here putting on his white gloves. A standout of this completely pre-painted ABS/PVC figure has to be the sculpting done by OOParts, especially on the gloves, clothing and hair. To own this Oikawa figure you will need from around 3,300 yen (~30 US dollars) to 26,400 yen (~240 US dollars).
On our number 4 spot we have another figure from Square Enix and this time it is Sebastian Michaelis’s master and the second protagonist of the series Ciel Phantomhive. This is a completely pre-painted PVC figure. The Ciel figure is a part of Square Enix’s Static arts line. The 9.5 cm (3.71 inches) tall figure depicts Ciel in a dress he wore in order to lure Jack the Ripper. The details on the figure are just exquisite and they imitate real fabric nicely. The figure was released in October 2010 and to pair this figure with your Sebastian figure you will need around 36,900 yen (~335 US dollars).
On our third spot we have an Azone version of Ciel’s demon butler Sebastian Michaelis. This Sebastian figure was released in March 2012. The doll itself is a 1/6 scale doll that is 27 cm (10.62 inches) tall. With this doll you get a newly sculpted soft vinyl head with implanted hair sculpted by Hisatake Kiyama. The doll has an Obitsu type body, slim male version. With the doll you get a butler costume set, shoes and 3 optional hand parts. The clothing is made from real fabric. The figure is part of Azone’s Asterisk Collection. To own it you will need around 52,300 yen (~475 US dollars).
In second place we have another Ciel Phantomhive figure. This figure was released by Medicom Toy in February 2016 as part of their Real Action Heroes line. This Ciel figure is 22 cm (8.7 inches) tall and it is made from ABC and PVC. The Ciel figure is a completely pre-painted fully poseable figure that comes with a RAH body. The head of the figure is sculpted by Shintaro Takahashi while the parts were sculpted by PERFECT-STUDIO. The clothing itself was done by Mieko Akimoto. You can see the work these artists put into this one-of-a-kind figure. The figure comes with loads of goodies including 3 interchangeable PVC head parts with different expressions, 2 types of PVC hair parts, a removable eyepatch, a right eye with contract symbol, a removable jacket, a stick, a teacup, rings, and a figure stand. To start your RAH Black Butler collection with this figure, you will need up 89,750 yen (~815 US dollars).
It is only fitting that another Sebastian figure take our number one spot. Like the Ciel figure above, this figure of the Sebastian Michaelis is a part of Medicom Toy’s RAH line. This figure was released in June 2015. This Sebastian figure is made from PVC with an ABS stand and is 30 cm (11.7 inches) tall. The figure was sculpted by PERFECT STUDIOS with Mieko Akimoto doing an excellent job with the clothing which, of course, is made from real fabric. The figure comes with a Sebastian body, 3 interchangeable expressions, 2 kinds of hair parts, and a selection of items necessary for any butler, like a teapot, a teacup, a tray, knives, a pocket watch, and candelabra. Besides all aforementioned items, he has his real cloth butler clothing and interchangeable hands and a display stand. To get this figure be ready to give up to 122,230 yen (~1110 US dollars).
