This luxurious three-tiered bento made by Yuusaku's mother is called "osechi ryouri" (a special bento made to celebrate the new year). It consists of inarizushi (a kind of sushi rice ball), steaks, lobster and many other extravagent ingredients. I guess in Japan, it truly is a Happy New Year!

Check out this Asian-styled bento. This type of fried rice topped with a fried egg is famous in Thailand, while the spring rolls and goi cuon banh xeo (crepe filled with bean sprouts and proteins, wrapped in lettuce and consumed with fish sauce) are Vietnamese cuisine. This is a great example of how it is okay to get creative when making a bento, even including a variety of foods from different countries.

This is a "three-kinds-of-onigiri" bento. The first onigiri is made of garlic pork soaked in honey, making the meat really tender. The second onigiri has a negishio sauce filling that is made of negi, chicken, ginger and sake. The last pair of onigiri has a shio kombu cheese filling. This amazing bento is made by Megumi Tadokoro.
