1 100-man no Inochi no Ue ni Ore wa Tatteiru
Isekai type of anime has seemingly gained lots of traction and because of that we have stuff like this. Because there are so many different titles offered, we see people try to adapt them and make something different. Not only did the narrative lack inspiration, but the characters are so flat that they try so hard to not be 'normal' it came off as more annoying than anything refreshing or unique. I mean, edgy main characters were in flavour some time ago and they worked because the narrative made sense, (Imagine: event logs as static images within an anime. It went straight from animations to picture drama, but I get it they were trying to build some kind of visual novel feel to it the only problem is that it isn't working, because of that it becomes very jarring.

In a normal world trespassing into 'specific' locations would get you in jail or at least in some severe consequence but because anime logic,

6 91 Days
91 Days, is a story set back in the prohibition era. As such the story cycles through the trade of "Good Alcohol". Though it isn't the main focus it plays a big part in this particular anime. The anime focus heavily on hatred itself as a vicious cycle and how revenge torments an individual to do things that is considered inhumane. The main character is one that is merciless when need be yet still able to maintain a soft and gentle side. The story in general for 91 days is nothing too crazy or unique but it is passable. The music on the other hand is a whole different ball game. It is superb, it fits the genre well and it complements the flow which is very impressive. Character build up wasn't really there but the general depth of the anime is able to make up for it. Thus I'd say that this anime is good, it has lots of meaning to it. Lessons are taught such as to look at things from the exterior & interior similar to a coin there are two sides, thus we must always see things from a different perspective.

8 Acchi Kocchi
Acchi Kocchi, I mean even the name of the anime sounds cute so what can you expect?
1. Very cute character animations
2. Light romance but they tend to keep it really simple and predictable
3. Interesting take on comedy where everything is cutesy and light.

While watching this anime, I can't help but really squeal out at certain moments when things get really ridiculous. This anime is overflowing with cutesy elements.

All characters are likeable as there are no annoying characters. This is a good examples that most animes should take from. The show is very refreshing and worth spending time on.

The music is cute and the art is very beautiful while keeping everything cute this is truly a work well done!

As usual I would recommend this to any anime lover who wants to take a break from all the mainstream & over-hyped animes.

11 Akame ga Kill!
Akame Ga Kill is a very nerve wrecking anime but at the same time satisfying anime. What helps this anime excel through this genre is the willingness to kill off characters the moment the writer feels like it. Sure you get attached to the characters but that doesn't mean they are going to be protected by plot shield. This anime is a work of art that is hard to achieve as many writers are unwilling to just kill of like-able characters fearing that it will incur the wrath of the audience. Though the final detail that I need to cover is that sure this anime isn't to the dot exact carbon copy of the manga. But that doesn't mean it isn't good. Different from the manga? Sure awesome anime still? Pretty much.

There is nothing much going on, calling this a gag anime is an insult to gag anime. Honestly, this could've potentially been a pretty good comedy anime had the direction been slightly different but because of the eccentricity of one character it really killed the vibes.

A very uninspiring take on the Isekai Genre that felt more like a generic slice of life because of how uninspired the fight scenes were. The only thing of substance here is the interactions between the characters. Although there are some scenes with really beautiful environment art, the animations are so horrendous that it made it really painful to watch.

Needless to say, remove the Isekai aspect and doubling down on the harem aspect probably would've made this more meaningful. Just to add some comedy into it. It tried to be serious with its silly characters and low depth world building which is what made this really bad.

31 Arslan Senki (TV)
Arslan Senki is an anime about war and how miscommunications can bring about absolute disasters. A great kingdom falls due to a traitor, and the young prince sets out his journey to reclaim his home. This anime is paced alright, character development is done out nicely you get to see Arslan become a better decision maker through the experiences he has been put through although he is still very kind and merciful, what makes it interesting is the fact that due to his nature, his subordinates are fiercely loyal to him though. Arslan Senki's art is impressive and the story compelling though at times predictable it makes up for it through their music and combats.

32 Arslan Senki (TV): Fuujin Ranbu
Arslan Senki Fuujin Ranbu, I am rather confused over this anime was it meant to be a sequel or a series of OVA's? The animations overall is pretty decent and somewhat enjoyable. The fight dynamics however has taken a steep decline, and the story progression at times you might even wonder how the authors decided to make some characters look so silly. Music wise, opening and ending is great like always, but the themes in the anime isn't at all up to par. At the end of this, it basically leads you back to the end of season 1. So probably not a second season more of a short story in the form of OVA's.

A story that revolves around a character solving problems of the many girls he stumbles upon. Very similar to many titles around the anime list. However this is slightly more unique, as the story revolves around supernatural events and the like. The character Araragi, has a very interesting personality that often gets your attention based on the interaction with the people he meets. The story itself is somewhat different which makes it a refreshing change from the mainstream stuff. The music is nice and the art is beautiful. Pacing wise its okay for a 15 episode anime but it could be somewhat faster I feel. Overall this anime is good and I can't wait to watch the sequel.

36 Ballroom e Youkoso
The best things about anime is that they can be as unrealistic as their creators desire. When placed in a setting of slice of life and the genre of sports 'dancing' how can one add flavour to it? Like most sports anime out there, up the drama scale. Which could have two effects either really interesting or the gesture of "too much" the over emphasis of something that isn't really there.

The show centers around dancing which seeks to appeal to audience who has some knowledge over it or to shed some light regarding this interesting field within the sports community to individuals who are not as versed in this particular sport.

The show itself has many dramatic scenes which serves to build up the character growth throughout the series. Some of the best parts in this series lies in the likeability of all characters. Even if some were shown/portrayed to be unlikeable at the start, the back story changes the dynamics of the appeal tremendously. The aspect of not judging a book by its cover cannot be overlooked in this anime. The point of 'every individual possesses their own set of difficulties and obstacles' is depicted clearly as everyone has to deal with their own struggles it is a matter and degree of how well they are able to cope and overcome them.

The show itself boasts a stellar musical score and vastly appealing art forms which makes watching a real treat. The story by itself isn't what makes this anime special but rather the characters that builds up on it.

A great watch which causes its audience begging for more.

38 Bastard!! Ankoku no Hakaishin (ONA)
Comments: Started with a fairly interesting premise, but quickly descended into themes that were outright unpalatable and horrendous. The only thing good about it was the fact that the female characters were basically eye-candy. If you’re not here for the fan service then you’re really just wasting your time because there’s really nothing going on here apart from a very confused mix of genres that clearly don’t mesh well together given how it was executed, really terrible characters, both main and side…. The overall theme of this title will leave you scratching your head wondering how any of this happened or why it happened in the first place. It is pretty bad.

55 Boku dake ga Inai Machi
Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi, is a story set in the present day where everything is normal and routine like. The story takes off when the main character triggers a phenomenon he calls "Revival" where he is thrown back in time to make changes that will affect the future. The story itself is great and nothing too cliche. The intensity it provided had me at the edge of my seat for most of the episodes. Being a mystery genre anime it was almost hard to guess who was the real villain as the story shifts very quickly and thus diverts your attention to what is obvious. The music in this anime is stellar and the art is beautiful. There are bits of comedy to lighten the mood. However, it is not used excessively but masterfully. This serves to balance the 'dark' theme of this anime. Characters in this anime are quite likeable and relatable to some extent. But overall this anime has been very interesting and exciting to watch. Definitely belonging to the list of animes in my recommended list.

Very dated graphics and art, with a very bland narrative. This is the epitome of a slice of life and romance that causes people to stereotype the genre and hate on it.

It possesses the attention to pull of a comedy tier work bundled together, with pretty juvenile romance focus (Perhaps that is the main theme of the series) 6 episodes in and the progression does seem good. However, it circles around on an idea rather than acting on it to create something meaningful. The approach to create past trauma and or generate some kind of depth or touch is totally lost because of how terribly executed the show is. Cutesy art style but it touches a lot on some pretty dark themes. Perhaps it gets better, as the series progresses but this is definitely not for me.

63 Bungou Stray Dogs
An interesting take on mystery-solving with cool aspects like unique innate abilities help pitch Bungou Stray Dogs as an anime with a very strong potential for success. However, the vibes that it generated throughout the series wasn't sufficient to generate the pull factor amongst its audience.

The direction of the title feels confused, there are moments that are serious and suddenly comical. Don't get me wrong, at times when 'that' concept is used skillfully it helps to create memorable comical scenes. Yet the way Bungou Stray Dogs went about it felt bizarre. I didn't like the story very much but being honest there is some really good storytelling in there.

The art is really good, and the animations fluid the use of music helps to keep particular fight scenes exciting and engaging. I can't stress this enough that for animes that rely on its fight scenes 'this is a do or die criteria'.

The characters are an overall pretty nice touch and their stories are rather interesting. It always gets you to want to know more but there are many characters and the draggy style of storytelling here was never going to work. That is one of the main reasons why it took so long before the series took off. At least in my perspective. For me, it took 8 episodes before I got really interested and invested in it.

The depth is actually very deep because the entire narrative centres around a 'place of belonging' which is really at the end of the day a struggle with one's own identity.

The pacing didn't work for me because it is really slow, 8 episodes before it started getting good. That is too long for a 12 episode season. The voice acting is good and some of its fight scenes help to keep you hyped up but its all really close to the end. The comedy falls really short, often feeling dry and uninspired. Definitely not the correct direction for the series.

Overall Bungou Stray Dogs is pretty good but it could've been really great.

64 Bungou Stray Dogs 2nd Season
Riding on the momentum of its previous season Bungou Stray Dogs Season 2 is a no-nonsense title that is filled with action from start to finish. It exemplifies that when a story is fleshed out properly it has the potential to come out of the gates swinging and becoming a household name. Certainly, this isn't a sustainable approach as producing animes are generally expensive and who would gamble with a hit or miss? That is why when it is successful it feels so damn good.

Continuing where it left off, the narrative just got better and this is a very good representation of flashbacks done right. It adds the right amount of depth to its characters and builds them into something absolutely flawless. In comparison to the first season, this one felt like a true masterpiece, the art and music are really amazing too and the masterful use of the previous seasons ending really brings back the nostalgia to indicate that the characters have indeed grown since then.

Needless to say, I absolutely loved the Season 2 of Bungou Stray Dogs and it felt really surprising for me as I really disliked its premise where it took 8 full episodes to get the ball rolling. But this time, it isn't shy to introduce yet another extensive list of characters to enhance its world setting and to add more flavour towards the dynamics within its already massive cast. Nearly all of the new characters introduced added interesting perspectives and helped to build the narrative into something truly exciting if there was anything poorly done it would be having one of the MC's still lacking the proper development needed for him to shine.

The depth in Season 2 is no less than that of the previous season, in fact, it expands on it to create something more precious to its audience. This had me thinking that the author purposefully fleshed out the characters in such a way just to tell the story and if that is the case it truly is a masterful way of writing and world-building. It took a while to get there, but when it did the results are quite astounding.

With a new cast, new voice acting talents. You will almost recognize most of them and they are veterans in the industry, which goes to show you how much value the anime has for them to invite such star power into it.

Being an action-packed season you can expect to be at the edge of your seat every episode from the start till the end, it is amazing it got me excited and craving for more. Although there were a few dramatic scenes, it is done out so well that you can't help but feel for the characters it really is an anime on an entirely different level. Its premise season really has nothing on this. This feels like the essence of what Bungou Stray Dogs should be and it should be kept this way.

Absolutely Amazing! Well deserving of a solid 9.

65 Bungou Stray Dogs 3rd Season
After much hype in season 2, there were multiple coolers along the way with an extended OVA and a movie to help build season 3. It felt rather lacking, to be honest.

The story maintained its tempo and continued to build on its narrative and world-building but this takes into account that you've watched all the content that is available regarding the series. Yet, it still pales in comparison to its preceding season. That being said, the art in this season was really good with each and every fight scene being so fluid it reiterates the importance of having them in the series. The use of music was amazing, I always enjoy a good taste in classical music but again the previous season used it better.

I enjoyed this season very much but again the way it was done feels like its back to square one. Like in season 1 this could potentially be a teaser for a truly explosive season 4. The characters this time are somewhat interesting but lacks a little flavour when compared to the previous instalment. The depth is deeper this time with flashbacks and mentions dating all the way back to its first season. It really outlines the thought-process of the author, with a strong focus on the narrative and character building. It is truly impressive and remarkable, although there were some pretty intense moments you should know by now that almost every character has very thick shields so it's hard to get worried even if you are emotionally attached to them because, at the end of the day it'll all turn out fine.

Season 3 is pretty good, well deserving a 7-8.

Campione is a pretty light-hearted anime with some interesting characters albeit predictable in nature. The art of this anime is really beautiful and the music is not too shabby. Character development however falls off in this anime and the pacing seems very fast and in some parts rushed. The anime itself wasn't bad but it wasn't spectacular either. All in all a pretty average anime with a unique style of execution but the depth and actual writing of the story felt very weak and close to being boring. Characters in the anime were also uninteresting. The music and art however have been quite enjoyable and rather notable.

107 Dance Dance Danseur
At a glance Dance Dance Danseur is something very similar to Ballroom e Youkosou and you’d have guessed that it is mainly because both narratives focus on the dancing itself, one for Ballroom and one for Ballet. But what sets Danseur apart from Ballroom is the fact that it tries to tie in drama into the sport to create a scenario such that it pushes its characters forward.

The narrative isn’t overly complicated however, perhaps to justify why a guy would like Ballet it takes a pretty dramatic turn to create a reason or perhaps potential reasons for why Junpei decided to pursue Ballet. From the get go, as the audience we’re aware that Junpei has always admired ballet and wanted to practice it at a very young age unlike his father who was the total opposite a much more masculine role-model which was the exact opposite of such a feminine sport. However, drama dictates that Junpei forgoes his own dreams at least until he meets someone that noticed his innate talent and immediately he is completely smitten by her which would’ve been great if the feelings were reciprocal but the overall narrative decided to stretch romance as a factor for drama and with it a love triangle that was destined to end similarly to the Swan Lake and the anime goes to great lengths to portray it again and again. Personally I felt like the romance was unnecessary since Junpei’s love interests stemmed on who he felt were amazing Ballet Dancers, first it was Miyako then Natsuki if anything he isn’t really attracted to the girls but rather the fact that another person shares the same interest as he does. It wasn’t surprising at all how Junpei decided to forgo his relationship with Miyako given the way he was written and how the general direction seemed to flow from the start till end. If anything, him wanting to stick with Miyako despite knowing what he knew would’ve been not only out of character but flat out strange. Overall I felt like the story was not too bad but isn’t anything overly inspiring it was sufficient but it should’ve focused more on the dancing rather than unnecessary drama.

Art wise, each character is drawn really beautifully it is probably one of the reasons why the Anime was nice to watch, it is also complemented by a pretty amazing score with classical music and a very upbeat Opening to match the theme of the anime. I actually liked the 2nd half of the series much more since it deviated away from unnecessary drama even though they were still prevalent it was more palatable rather than to portray an unnecessary pity party or perhaps even a jealous-revenge troupe. It would’ve been a little too typical otherwise. But overall, I think it concluded rather well for its first season assuming that there will be a sequel*.

Characters are quite likeable even the supposed antagonists are rather relatable which creates sufficient room for realism to set in, thereby depicting a level of depth for the audience to define through their own perspectives, whether or not you hate individuals doing such actions for their own selfish reasons you cannot deny the fact that the possibility of such people existing and in turn generating a domino effect which could lead to the same exact situation within the Danseur’s world. Past trauma can be something that is very very difficult to overcome and even with bandaids and emotional support it can still be a very daunting task and this is extremely prevalent in Luou’s character and Miyako’s determination.

Pacing wise was just right, and being a fan of Uchiyama Kouki I have to say that the voice acting within the cast members were also very well done. The utilisation of Drama was adapted fluidly and logically, it made sense. However, incorporating romance into it felt a little forced but perhaps necessary to push Junpei forward it could’ve been something done for the sake of character development or even as a tease honestly the only thing separating Danseur and Ballroom is the prevalence of drama and unnecessary romance which the latter didn’t focus on whereas the former did. It was almost like watching Ballroom e Youkosou but with hints of Shigatsu unfortunately, even with this blended approach it couldn’t replicate the magic that either possessed although Dance Dance Danseur was still a good watch it pales in comparison compared to the other 2 simply because the overall direction wasn’t focused enough. The romance felt very flat and unnecessarily forced at times, it was enough to have past trauma be the deciding factor for drama trying to create an over-the-top drama could sometimes be detrimental and in this case it didn’t do the series any favours other than creating scenarios that might leave the audience to feel either dissatisfied or upset.

8 seems fair to me.

Plot feels unnecessarily confusing, characters out of place overall narrative felt bland and linear.

Character progression tends to be reset.... no one actually does anything until it's too late and often times it just leads to a predictable outcome.

No idea why it became popular but I understand why not many people like it.

114 Darwin's Game
A battle-royale themed anime with a pretty bland Main Character. New characters introduced along the way are touted to be pretty formidable opponents and yet they get wrecked by a MC that is quite frankly a joke because the plot demands it. Not going to lie, the MC's indecisiveness is the true narrative of the series and that is what you get watching it 4 episodes in.

Although there are some cool aspects about the story like sigils etc it is really silly for an MC to be so detached from reality and to stick to the moral-high ground approach when it is so explicit what is expected of him.

At the get-go, the show does not even try to give you the impression that the MC is there to grow. Rather it is more of him facing reality and doing what needs to be done, as such this cannot really be categorised as Character Development this is to put it directly "Ass-Pulling" and "Plot Shields". He has good skills and an incredibly OP ability he is able to challenge skilled fighters as a rookie. Just think about that for a minute.

But of course, as basic as an anime gets when you have a star VA like Koyasu Takehito you know where the money went. His character alone managed to get more work done in 1 episode than most of the characters did in 5. However, I must admit getting through the first 5 episodes although torturing the payout is well worth it. Simply because the MC starts to grow and become reliable. What made the show good near the end was the catalyst that helped to create the growth and progression of the MC.

Although there is nothing much to shout home about for the music, it had a pretty good Ed. It is a real pity that it took so long for the series to get started. Because I absolutely hated the first half and only started liking it closer to the end.

Watching this because of Minase Inori.

The story is overly complicated, they try too hard to introduce multiple characters without really fleshing any of them properly. It would be good to have actual progression instead of introducing them without resolution. There is some substance that keeps it entertaining but there are plenty of filler dialogue that really doesn't add much to the series and it doesn't help that the usual gag bits causes any tension that has been built up to feel like a joke.

Fights and animation is decent but the overall narrative is lacking.

118 Death Note
Death Note, this is a title that is well known throughout the world for its unique and original storytelling. However, this is only with reference to the Japanese version. Be it the live movie or the anime version, both are pleasant to watch. However, I would say that the Anime version is somewhat more lengthy but nothing overly superior to that of the live movie given that the main focus of the narrative remains the same with a couple of tweaks.

Now on to the show, as stated previously the show excels on its original story and setting which helps to make it stand out against the plethora of titles offered within the Anime industry. However, for its time the art is clearly lacking whilst the music was fitting it wasn't exceptionally amazing or awe-inspiring sure there are a couple of tracks that are well-suited towards the theme of the anime but that is it. The story deviates much after a certain point of the show and it acts as the pivotal change towards the narrative, about 25 episodes in you'd start to feel experience the drop in the writing standards. Even though, the narrative is the same it just feels different (unsure if this is character bias, but really there are things lacking here.)

Easy to say, I enjoyed Death Note and I wouldn't mind watching it again simply because it is a show about the battle of wits. Though, it is really ridiculous and utterly unbelievable but heck this is Anime there is no need to be realistic. The main purpose is to create a form of entertainment.

I'd say some of the main standouts were the characters they were very interesting from start to end, there was always some progression you can expect as the series progress, I wouldn't say that there were any annoying characters but not all of them were likeable.

The series by itself carries very heavy depth, a simple one would be 'one could think nobly, and act as they were until they get their hands on true power, only then can we witness the truth in their character.' If I were to critically analyze the main characters, I am sure that I can easily derive multiple meanings and definitions of the character traits being exuded among the individuals that we interact with everyday. They are no different from your regular person other than the fact that each of them are highly intelligent individuals.

The pacing of the anime was good, but could've been better there were definitely times where events and situations felt really slow and draggy, not complaining as the show itself was entertaining but overtime too much pauses in the narrative causes its audience to lose interest which is a no-no. I mean I get it, they need time to prove that a certain character is smart yada-yada or some elaborate explanation as to what is happening etcetera. But really, I don't know if the generic audience would care for it, one of the better parts of the series is probably the level of intensity it held throughout. When it was time for the action to drop, bombs to hit and targets to strike they never failed to hit the mark. The writers did a good job keeping their audience on their toes to anticipate and seek out what is going to happen next. However, the sad thing is as the show progressed it lost more of its initial spark up till the finale where it wasn't nearly as good as when the show had hit its climax. It is more of a, strong middle but weak finish feel to the show. I wouldn't go far to say that this was a bad series or anything. Sure it had its flaws but the majority of the series more than makes up for it. And for that, Death Note is definitely a series deserving a solid 9.

Everyone dies, that's just how life is but what makes life interesting? Is it the way we choose to live it? In existence there are far too many discrepancies and inconsistency. Fairness is an example. No one is equal as such there is no so such thing as gaining equality. Death Parade as a show portrays the very concept of irony and paradoxical logic. It tells the story of how people lived, chose to lived or subjected into living. The decision one makes that resulted in the current outcome. The show in itself stimulates critical thinking and is highly philosophical. The music is stellar and the setting superb. I could go on and on about the intricate details but it'd be better to just watch it and experience it for yourself. However, despite showing great promise in terms of concept and style I felt it lacking in major aspects. To be honest many more areas could be expanded and worked on. Decent execution but it could've been so much more!

120 Deatte 5-byou de Battle
A fairly interesting approach to the battle royale theme, the main cast of characters are fine but the show is heavily carried by the Main Character which is to be expected.

Other antagonists are fairly interesting with their own backstories, there are some pretty eccentric characters which the general vibe of the battle-royal theme more realistic but it doesn't make it enjoyable unless you're really rooting for them to get absolutely demolished.

However, it is a pretty interesting watch, a season 2 might be interesting but given how it relies so heavily on the MC it might become something a little tough to pull off, the dynamics between Akira and Yuuri is entertaining but perhaps not the best given their difference in philosophies it would however be an interesting shift in character development if they both start showing open-mindedness but it would shift away from the main theme of the series, would definitely be open to reading the manga to understand more of the characters.

But given how the overall ending was done for Season 1, a sequel is to be expected but perhaps it will take some time.

121 Demi-chan wa Kataritai
Demi-chan wa Kataritai!, just as the name suggests the show centers around the protagonist working towards understanding the special individuals introduced within the show as it progresses episode by episode.

In terms of the narrative, there isn't much going on as there is no definitive plot in fact the story revolves around your typical slice of life setting where the protagonist tends to be the highly-reliable and sought after person that starts off by understanding the problems and think of ways to help resolve the issues relating to the people around him.

The better things, about a reliable MC is how proactive they are by nature which allows the audience to feel the sense of reassurance and satisfaction. Being a feel good anime I felt that the the direction of the anime was done very well. I could appreciate the hints of comedy and affection exuded from the characters from time to time which helped to keep the series fresh in general without it feeling a little repetitive and or boring.

In terms of the music and artistic aspect of the anime, I would say that the first episode the first few moments/glimpses of the animation was what got me excited as the art was very vibrant and aesthetically pleasing. The musical score is fitting for the style of the anime keeping the upbeat fashion whilst exuding a positive vibe throughout the show.

Although the story was pretty linear and simple, I would like to note that the writer did touch on something that is considered to be a societal taboo even in our lives today which is social discrimination. The show itself revolves in a world where Demi-humans live (Supernatural Beings) but the effects of ostracisation has been severely diminished. But effects of the unknown still causes unavoidable tensions amongst humans. We can deny it all we want, but where there is uncertainty or things that we cannot explain we tend to criticise it/them without bothering to put in the effort to start understanding that which we are unable to get instead we take the easy way out to avoid and make fun of.

I felt that the show touched on some really heavy issues if I were to look at it from a different perspective minus all the cute animations and or jokes. Funny how a simple tweak here and there can change the entire vibe and direction of a show and Demi-chan wa Kataritai made a fantastic job showing that.

In terms of the characters, as far as the main cast is concerned there are no unlikeable characters and all of them are an essential part of the group being that they are all.... Demi humans. I wouldn't say that the side characters are anything fantastic nor amazing but they are there when they are needed to push the narrative forward which isn't unusual in story writing. But they are at least understandable in terms of their nature and exuded characteristics.

The pacing of the story is fantastic, every episode covers a different segment and or perspective of the characters whilst maintaining the general flow of the series without the feeling of weird time skips and or sudden jumps in-between the narrative. The flow felt smooth and undeniably satisfying.

The comedy in this anime is subtle and does not feel forced. The general vibe of the series technically revolves around the character's interactions with one another whilst maintaining the vibrancy in their specific traits and keeping the general mood in a fun-comedic fashion. I mean for anime's that rely on subtlety you must not compare the level of comedy to be the likes of Konosuba where it is meant to cause the audience to be hysterical in terms of its humour.

There are many different types of comedy and Demi-chan wa Kataritai has managed to stand out in terms of its unique execution for its genre troupes. It is definitely a series that is highly deserving of the score 8!

123 Devil Survivor 2 The Animation
Devil Survivor 2 The Animation, I have not experienced the game and as such I cannot really judge based on how fair this anime adaptation is towards the real thing. But from what I've seen online the anime has seemingly done the actual work an injustice.

So lets get started, the story itself is pretty mediocre, there is barely any progression in terms of the characters, to be honest even characters who appear often are really really useless and weak. Calling them side characters would be insulting even, they're just there like taking up air time and literally for the comedy in my opinion.

Alright, the anime has done some things right. For instance interesting characters like Yamato Hotsuin, this sole character is the only redeeming quality for the show. He is the depiction of many things, from a person who tries his best to make a change because no one else would. Seeing way ahead leaving others behind. He is the embodiment of if you want to go fast 'go alone.'

That being said, his actions to me were justified and meaningful which brings me to the nature of the Main Characters. Which was a severe blow to the show, with them being too idealistic, passionate and to some extent simply pathetic it was truly a chore to watch.

However, props to the animators for the art and sounds team for the amazing scores. The soundtracks were on point that fitted well with the setting of the anime. This anime could've been great but instead it just had too many non-factors that hindered it from really shining. AND HONESTLY WE JUST NEED MORE CHARACTERS LIKE YAMATO.

143 Gamers!
As I've not read the actual source material, I can only comment on my experience from the anime alone. I assume that the score reflects the dissatisfaction from the general audience who are faithful to the actual Light Novel, given that there are some deviations as compared to the original.

Now on to the real thing, at the very start as you can expect from the tag 'school' its going to be a little dry and off-putting. But that's how slice of life and school life types of anime work. They start slow and pick up thereafter. One important factor that kept Gamers! good for me is the comedy in it. I believe that is the main selling point for the entire series. Given that the anime did not explore much on the romantic aspects despite what its genre suggests. I have to say, that it was quite disappointing. However, the comedy centered around the various relationships helped to keep the show fresh and light to watch without feeling dull.

Like I said, the story starts slow but steadily picks itself up, like a general slice of life anime filled with some hints of romance whilst centering around comedy. Which is what pieces the show together, the interesting aspect is that all the comedy within the series is always due to misunderstandings. Likewise the relationship issues throughout the entire series. The general audience might find this off-putting but in our current reality this is becoming very real and very true. As we become more technological focused we lose more interactions between our counterparts from a physical standpoint and thus we delve deeper into a digital view. As we lose our touch in real life and become more connecting online simple things tend to be more complicated and we tend to overthink more than we expect. This is a result of us not being able to understand one another, and the solution is very simple which is to interact with one another more. But lets face it, in our world today that is easier said than done.

The art was good I really enjoyed it, and the music was really fitting the retro arcade style vibe. Not sure why they were going for the classical game 8-bit types but whatever it was a good listen.

I am not going to lie, I enjoy the hell out of slice of life, school-rom-com troupes. Needless to say, the show didn't really have any off-putting main characters other than a little side noise from the side-characters which have no actual value to the show.

In terms of the depth of the show, there are some real issues that they do touch on but it is not obvious you would have to really understand and read along the lines within the conversations and reactions of the characters to derive any forms of meaning and interpretations. But they are, at the end of the day very real problems. Which is something well-thought off in my opinion. However, as the show isn't focused on that aspect I didn't really put much emphasis on it. The pacing was good, not the best but at least there are some progression from time to time. But man, does the comedy work, I mean REALLY WORK. There were moments where I just sat there and laughed due to the silly reactions and situations. And that quite frankly is what Anime like these should be, not too forceful or anything its just a good pastime and a stress-reliever.

147 Gleipnir
Pretty basic tragic-revenge kinda subplot with a somewhat subpar main character. The first episode establishes Gleipnir as a pretty fast-paced and action-packed series with decent character development. But it simply lacks the natural pull for it to be genuinely interesting for the audience.

There is clear voice acting talent on the roster but the narrative is just a little too lacking.

Convenient characters are good and all but with a tragic protagonist it is hard to really enjoy a series. I mean there isn't really a lack of useless MCs but whenever you come across them it just leaves such a bad taste, I don't expect the protagonist to be overpowered or super-intelligent or anything but come on man grow a backbone and do something useful. Character development is good and all but don't try to sell bs and expect people to bite.

Fortunately for Gleipnir the second half episode 7 onwards things start to get a little more exciting with a rather drastic change in the Main Character's personality although it was a convenient development it worked. Perhaps the ecchi scenes were what attracted most of the viewers but for those that stayed the story actually improved to a point where I was genuinely interested to know more but unfortunately, it took the last 3 episodes of the season to do so. It works if this season is meant to serve as the build-up for an absolute banger in the next something like what Bungou Stray Dogs did but we will have to wait and see.

I didn't really enjoy it in the beginning but as time went on I guess I was just awestruck by the voice acting talent and the characters they bring to life. Tragic arcs, self pity, and the like really good job. The drama does feel somewhat forced but if you think about it in real terms it might just work.

Not the best but it could've been far worse. 7 sounds fair.

148 Goblin Slayer
From the adaption of the dark novel, Goblin Slayer doesn't hold back on how brutal it is. From the first episode we're greeted by a display of horror and gore inculcating the dark side of storytelling that is usually filtered for the sake of mainstream media as to avoid controversial discussion.

The story's premise is rather simple, the main focus is about goblins and how these creatures are able to adapt and become more intelligent through time and experience. The same way we behave as humans. The narrative alone is simple, but that is what the series capitalises on, the main character is simply a goblin specialist and he only cares about wiping their entire race as a personal vendetta against the atrocities they've committed against him and his loved ones. It is a simple take of revenge but done is a more severe, believable and harsh setting. The series is uncompromising in terms of the tone that it has decided to sit upon.

But is well complemented by the art and character designs, honestly if the characters didn't look aesthetically pleasing I doubt people would even bother having a second look. But that being said, some of the character designs are rather nice especially the details in their drawings and appearance.

The music isn't anything overly powerful, dramatic but rather a simple subtle tone that helps to set the environment but it doesn't evoke much emotion and feeling in its audience. I would say that I enjoyed bits of the anime but there were some parts that fell short.

The characters in Goblin Slayer serves as a distraction for the main attraction which is the goblin slayer himself. Some are likeable more so than others, whereas some are just simply fodder alike many animes out there who just appear for the sake of pandering to the appeal of specific groups.

The depth of the show is rather significant, if you do not bury a grudge early on then it will fester and become something much worse. If you do not decide to settle for peace then your only other option is to engage in the utter destruction of the one you've already offended. Two cannot coexist without the proper diplomacy and middle ground. When peace is not an option, then violence is the only other way and this anime does a good job portraying that.

The pacing of the anime is rather good, there is always something extra going on in the subsequent episodes, you almost never feel that there is a wasted episode to cover up a specific filler arc. But then again there isn't much to cover.

The fights are intense, you can always expect a good sense of urgency and the feeling of what happens if you were to lose. The writer is able to evoke despair and fear amongst its audience and the voice actors do a good job portraying the emotions within the scenes.

Overall Goblin Slayer is a pretty good anime but the narrative lacks the material necessary to push it forward to stand out as one of the best within the anime industry.

Moving on from the shock value of its prequel Goblin Slayer: Goblin's Crown is just an extended episode for the series adapting an extra chapter from the light novel. However, it fails to build a decent story to keep the audience captivated. It utilises the same formula but it just doesn't have the same pull-factor as before.

The art and music are similar, but strangely I did not find myself enjoying this very much. It felt like a rinse and repeat. I get the saying "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" but for a series such as this, it can get stale very fast. A pretty lacklustre performance as compared to its prequel IMO.

151 God Eater
I'll be very honest, the start of God Eater was anything but interesting it is a very slow burn that felt torturing to watch. It took roughly 2 episodes to build some depth to the characters and within the next 3, you're forced to witness severe regressions to a point where it is just insulting.

I understand trauma and phobias come into play here but it doesn't fit the narrative at all. However, attempts were made to salvage the disastrous writing of its cast but it is found severely lacking. 13 Episodes and it takes roughly 6-7 before it starts taking off. Wherein most of the series was carried by that 1 character, quite possibly the only likeable person in the entire series that you'll feel invested in. Other than the special segment in Episode 10. (<-- The leading point to episode 10 is where the show starts becoming better.)

The story had a rather interesting premise, giving the kind of vibes similar to that of Monster Hunter but it falls short in terms of its characters. The art is amazing but there are a couple of pretty weird designs on some of the characters. The music is really good and fitting for the theme of the title's genre.

I didn't really enjoy the start of the series at least not until the mid-way segment but by then my interest had waned significantly and only the last few episodes caught my attention. But rating the entire season as a whole, it is necessary to account for its vastly lacklustre performance in the beginning.

Like I mentioned earlier, the characters regress and its quite pathetic nothing much to see here. The depth of the series tries to justify the regression and the progression of the narrative. It focuses on pretty idealistic values and realistic expectations. It is good, some of the parts had me thinking about the real world and much less of the anime. I liked the embedded values and meanings in the show, maybe just enough for me to try the game and experience the real thing.

The pacing was pretty average that required more grease on the wheels because it was so slow at the start and finally picking off near the end just like most animes I suppose. It is almost as if, the adaptations that utilise this format expects that they will come with a second season. If they do succeed for a second season at least.

The voice acting is kinda meh, but I don't think it is due to the VAs but rather the script and the scenes don't really provide much leeway for them to expand on their range.

The show by itself isn't very intense, it felt kinda predictable and even some of the scenes are pretty weird considering the situation they are in. The flow felt strange and the drama was at some moments quite unnecessary.

A pretty average watch around 6-7. Nothing amazingly good or bad.

153 Golden Time
Nice Character Art alongside interesting Voice overs for the characters helps to make this anime a compelling one to watch, within just 2 episodes I was already getting into it and took a liking towards the characters. (Potential pull on the audiences heartstrings.)

However. as the anime progressed it failed to maintain its initial captivating aura amongst the characters to retain the audience's attention. After the first 6-7 episodes the story felt rather stale and boring and quite frankly similar to many romance anime troupes.

Short summary, the series revolves around 4 segments. The first 6 relates to how the MC falls for a specific individual, where the next segment brings in the potential candidate for the drama to revolve around and around this point the writers try very hard to build drama and tension specifically making it hit home to most audiences.

With the 3rd segment trying to cement the initial relationship established at the beginning. Needless to say, with such a build up and poor pacing IMO, the final segment felt somewhat rushed and lacked the umph required to unleash the needed emotions from its audience.

The music used suited the theme well alongside the Romance-Genre, with a decent art form for the series in general. A few flaws for me were the weak character development in the MC in general, it felt that most of the series was carried by the side characters as they were far more likeable in general.

The story itself is nothing impressive however, there are a few core values that could be very meaningful to some who view this anime in general. The concept of living in the present, to treasure every moment is something often handled poorly and taken lightly and this anime showcases that perfectly.

Although there were its strong points, its weak points stood out just as much. The show itself is not very amazing or awesome, but it is still a decent watch, Love Triangles tend to generate the sense of a bittersweet feeling depending on who you are rooting for. The downside was closer to the end you can feel that it is being rushed and that the prior episodes were taking up the necessary air time for things to progress smoothly. Not to mention the sudden supernatural aspects near the end making it 'weird'. A decent 7 is more than fair for this series, which is to imply 'a decent watch, but one you could do without.'

154 Gosick
A fairly interesting title, Gosick centres around solving mysteries through the MC's 'Wellspring of Wisdom'. The mysteries introduced in the show is quite frankly, hit or miss you either love or find it extremely boring.

There were times where the content was flat out uninspiring and bland but the show must go on. Therefore, the characters have to appear in specific arcs that somehow add value to the overall mystery that will eventually unravel at the end.

The art is okay, for its time it is probably quite good?
The music is alright, it fits the theme well the transitions are well-positioned and the eds are really good. There is quite a number of takeaways from the show but that requires much discussion and critical thinking to achieve them as compared to a thought-provoking piece of work at face value.

The pacing is actually quite well done, but there are moments where it felt like it was actually performing filler arcs. Turns out the filler was character development, to some extent.

The voice acting is good, there are a few iconic voices in them and when you hear them you feel the star quality within. Emotional scenes are carried by the VAs so that is an area of focus. The series although pretty average managed to achieve a rather inspiring ending.

Although it felt rushed near the end and the main antagonist was poorly fleshed out it was still a pretty decent watch overall.

The romance felt rather tasteless, there are hints here and there and a blooming friendship that turns into something more. But its an implication rather than an indication. It felt strange to have romance as a tag. When the main focus was human interaction and solving peculiar mysteries that actually isn't that perplexing.

24 episodes is a huge time investment, I wouldn't recommend watching this unless you really like chibi characters in action and very silly tsundere moments.

156 Grancrest Senki
This review contains spoilers.

Every once in a while you'll stumble across anime with OP MC's but what could be more annoying than an OP MC? That's right an MC that doesn't really do much or do anything at all for that matter. Four episodes in you really get to see a guy riding on the coattails of other people doing all the work but somehow gets all the recognition for it. Sure he has admirable intentions but that's just all that he does. He lacks the ability or skill to go beyond that, even his so-called ambition was fuelled by someone else although he does bring some value to the table as the series progresses it really doesn't justify the "royal treatment" he receives.

With that, I'll now elaborate a little more on why I've given Grancrest Senki a score of 5.

For starters, the narrative is rather simple yet it somehow manages to still be rather unclear on the overall objective of its storytelling. Although the story is pretty linear there were interesting elements within the series to keep it entertaining, the existence of crests, the nobility system as well as the incorporation of magic-like beings. With crests are the most important aspect of the show because everything revolves around it. However, there were one too many instances of what I would classify as "convenient coincidences" such that it removes most of the intensity or value of the entire narrative.

For the art style and music preference, I would consider them as the better elements for Grancrest Senki, although they were not game-changers they helped to make the series somewhat bearable to a certain extent. However, what really killed it for me was the lack of interesting characters. Don't get me wrong, Grancrest Senki is an anime that introduces at least 20 characters yet only a handful of these characters remain memorable. There were probably many aspects that weren't properly adapted into the anime because of how incoherent the motivations of certain characters are. It just felt a little too rushed in my opinion.

Needless to say, I didn't really enjoy Grancrest Senki but there were moments where it was actually pretty good, the introduction and conclusion were severely lacking and the best bits were somewhere in between the entire series and unsurprisingly there weren't related to the main characters because of how bland they were.

Another point to note, there is some depth to be derived from the series as a whole from the motivation of certain lords to the eventual conclusion of Grancrest Senki there were many interesting areas that could be discussed in further detail but unfortunately, still insufficient to carry the narrative.

The pacing of the show was pretty weird, there were moments that felt a little too rushed, either from a very weird transition from one place to another. Because of its fast-paced nature, the audience will find it very challenging to appreciate the characters and because there is such an extensive list it becomes an even greater challenge to appreciate what is actually happening. In terms of highlighting the seriousness of war, it has done a really good job. But the flow of the series in general feels rather mismatched and somewhat out of place.

The voice acting is passable, there were no real standouts perhaps that is because most of the characters casted by the VAs were not well-written characters. Likewise, the show is very predictable, wherever the MC goes he is triumphant and remains victorious because he gets carried from start till end, nothing ever changes and somehow he is revered as a godly figure.

The romance in Grancrest Senki is passable, but I would consider it to be rather lacking (Only because it has romance as one of its tags. Otherwise I wouldn't even point this out.) The story itself feels a little disconnected from building an actual romance but perhaps that is just my personal bias because I have very high expectations for romance themed anime.

Overall Grancrest Senki is passable, for a war-themed anime but there are clearly better stories out there. A score of 5 seems rather harsh but for 24 episodes to achieve what it did feels extremely underwhelming.

157 Grand Blue
They say first impressions are everything, and Grand Blue makes one hell of a first impression. Starting the first episode till the last there is non-stop humour that is able to lift anyone up even from the most depressing moods. It is just too stupidly good!

Now onto the real thing, To start off Grand Blue isn't your typical slice of life/comedy Anime. Instead it is the rare faithfully adapted Piece of Art that stays loyal to the source material of "Grand Blue Dreaming." Now why would I say that Grand Blue isn't your typical type of anime? Mainly because it focuses solely on Comedy and nothing else, something like the Gintama approach but with only 12 episodes how can the writers hope to make it interesting? That's right, to prove their abilities the writers showcase the effectiveness of Slice of Life when done right. Which is why, the main ingredient for any Slice of Life is comedy. People often forget that Anime is another excuse to escape from reality which is why people tend to go for fantasy themes, dark realities or simply fairy-like romances.

The creators of Grand Blue understand this and created this comedic masterpiece which had me laughing almost every minute. The story isn't the main factor of why the narrative was so good but rather the way it was paced and the way it is presented to the audience. It is direct, to the face and simply irresistible. For an anime like this, you wouldn't expect much from the music and its art but you'd be surprised by the quality that this title possesses. Well fitting music, alongside eye-candies for the audience to both admire and appreciate as they sink into the characters growing on them.

Needless to say, I enjoyed this anime very much to be honest, I used to think that Konosuba was the best comedy title out there but perhaps Grand Blue could rival that very special spot in my heart as the top comedy anime. I can't wait for Season 2 and have really high hopes that it will continue riding on its success.

This show doesn't shed much depth but if there is anything that I can take away from it would be to live without fear and to take life as is. Do not fear going forward but look forward to the potential excitement when you venture into new boundaries. It is quite an interesting take on not taking things for granted and to do the things you love while you still can.

The pacing is absolutely amazing, every episode the characters progress and make new friends without discarding the original members. They almost all share the same air time. The ones that you care for anyways. The show doesn't feel slow nor fast. It is just right and this is the kind of pacing worthy of a masterpiece.

Needless to say, Grand Blue's Success stems from its comedic routes. Without it the show would be atrociously bad due to the fact that comedy is the sole driving force that pushes everything else forward. But, we should not discount that the characters in the show is absolutely likeable. Not a single one of them feels annoying or an eyesore. They're all lovable and grows on you as you continue episode by episode. A definite good introduction anime for people starting and a gem for people who love anime.

Grand Blue is worthy of getting a 10. A True Masterpiece.

158 Guilty Crown
Right at the get go we're introduced to a very mediocre perhaps sliding towards a below average main character. This is perhaps the writer's intentions to create an actual human-like personality and mindset.

Even after reaching the middle of the series, the MC has failed to leave any sort of interesting aspect about his personality or MO. Just a reflection of what is rather bland, pathetic and simply boring. It creates a character that most audience would IMO be disinterested in.

Perhaps one of the most pathetic MC's I've seen in awhile with barely any character development even up till the middle of the series. Even when there is a glimpse of something it just succeeds in helping it vanish, the characters in a show helps to make/break the flow and general vibe. Therefore if the MC is bland, the Side Characters must help to carry the series and so far, there are barely any interesting Characters with the exception of a few potential candidates.

It doesn't help that some of the romantic interests in the series barely make sense as there are very trivial situations to spark any sort of said feelings it feels forced and a little shallow.

Upon reaching Episode 12, it felt like a good point to end the series right there and then, whilst giving the writers time to re-think their supposed plot and come back with a second season. But instead of doing that, they decided to press on and the subsequent episodes is the result of that.

The Music and Art is nice, but that is about as good as it gets. The story alone doesn't carry much of an impact. You'd think that someone with the MC's powers to do something before it is too late, and guess what? It takes for crucial individuals to literally die off before he does anything useful. Childish fantasies and mindsets is what causes unnecessary deaths but I guess it is needed for 'character development' that is how it always goes. (It took 15 episodes to get here btw.) The moment you think the MC gets any proper development you realise that it is a complete farce once again he is led by someone else instead of taking the reins. The whole show has been depicting the concept of idolisation, it feels like the writers were aiming towards many different angles but failed to specialise in a single aspect which made the overall show to seem very shallow and lacking of any substance.

Throughout the entirety of the series there were only a handful of characters that stood out which helped make the show bearable, Hare, Inori/Mana, Segai, maybe the MC's Dad, characters that made it close were probably Daryl Yan, Tsugumi, Argo and maybe Ayase.

Reaching closer to the end, perhaps the last 5 episodes the show starts to take an interesting turn making it somewhat a decent watch, but for someone who has went through most of the show it is hard for the last 5 to redeem the damage dealt within the first 17.

Gungrave is an anime that intrigues 2 main values, which is friendship and loyalty. Which would you choose? As both stand to be impossible to balance, one has to make the tough decision and sometimes these decisions don't just affect you it affects everyone around you. What makes this anime interesting is the progression of the characters and emphasis on loyalty. Whilst maintaining the importance of friendship. The characters are very likeable, and the story is quite exciting to some extent minus some ridiculous moments.

Overall the characters, story, depth and pace has been very well thought out and portrayed. The author has done an amazing job with this game adaptation. Coupled with touching moments and anguish that the characters are able to exude to the audience I'd say this anime has done well and very much to be considered a very impressive anime for its time.

Even today while watching it, it still strikes me as a very impressive anime.

161 Hai to Gensou no Grimgar
Normally I like a unique take on a popular genre but this is not the case for Grimgar. The main selling point of the series is the character development. Which helps to justify the extremely slow pace. But imagine spending that much time building characters that are just bland, ill-inspired and just very disconnected to the audience. How do you think that will pan out?

But let's take a look at the positives, Grimgar's take on the Isekai genre is unique instead of creating op characters and having epic fights it barrels down to build characters and showcases trauma of how people would feel if they were randomly thrown into such a situation. For that aspect, Grimgar did a pretty amazing job but that is all it did well.

We can see that the budget did not go into the environment building or the character designs. Maybe they spent more on the voice actors, but then again even with Hosoya at the helm his character didn't feel very impactful, rather it felt pretty mundane and lacking substance. Being an isekai based narrative the story is generic, and the art did it no favours, but I liked the environmental sounds that the anime took to create impact for emotional scenes. But it wasn't working in hand with the quality of the voice acting. Perhaps it was the intention of the author to create relatable characters but it just did not resonate with me. The pacing made sense for what the narrative was trying to achieve but it is very slow and most people would just drop it at that point. Regardless, the pay outs for waiting isn't too great either which is why I believe most would feel unrewarded even after a short journey of 12 episodes.

There weren't many intense moments as combat seems to be really serious in this series and most of the fights tend to be pretty hilarious until it isn't which is a strange dive from comical to tragic. There is drama within specific bits of the anime but they aren't very impactful at least not until you're invested with the cast of characters.

No one person, in this world is the same and this show draws a clear distinction on this specific fact. A guy being attracted to a girl, your typical romance troupe but the one thing that was never discussed was why he liked her in the first place. Which in turn creates a really shallow point of interest but perhaps this isn't the main focus by the writer. If that is the case, then I guess it doesn't really matter.

Now on to the actual plot of the story, if I am being frank it is really linear and centers around 'imagination.' Some people are more creative than others, some more special, some unique and others popular whichever way you spin it or look at it you'll see a difference. But what drives this difference to create a self that is separate and distinct from the rest?

Harmonie, is a nice change of pace from the regular and mainstream type of animes offered but there isn't really much going on in the show it was a decent watch but that is just it. A decent watch.

This anime brought studying the ongoings of the human body to a whole new level, it has comedy, romance and action. These are major flags that help to build a successful series the best part? The animation is pretty stellar too.

The music is great and the characters are absolutely adorable, there is even character development. Although I was not very interested/invested in the series I have to admit that this is a very well-made anime. The voice acting cast alone will make anyone starstruck.

167 Hellsing
If you're watching Hellsing with the lenses of today then you're already at the wrong side of the screen. The show itself is a depiction of the original take by the writers themselves to the theme of Vampires in a medium that existed before its rise in popularity.

Hellsing back in its glory days was easily considered to the best of its type, needless to say this was supposedly the bees knees and one of the few series over the last decade or so to kickstart the rise in Anime across the globe. The story is not the same as the manga as shown by its deviation, but that doesn't mean that the show itself isn't original. It takes on a different direction but that means that it costs the setting and storytelling of the series as a whole. You can tell that the story is fragmented but not to the point where it was totally irredeemable. It was still good but not at the level that you'd expect. That being said, the music they decided to use for their adaptation was superb to fit its gory and gruff style of story telling the music is rather fitting verging on an epic soundtrack to a more dark-still themed style which takes the series onto a different level.

The characters are mainly interesting with the best being Alucard and Seras, all of the Main Hellsing cast was interesting as they are the main point of focus as such their writing is far better compared to the extras. But it felt severely lacking when they decide to sideline all the newer characters they introduce just to boost the ones that they've focused on in the entire series.

There isn't much depth to this, or rather I didn't try to understand or pay attention to it. It just seems like an anime that focused on providing entertainment through the medium of an immortal vampire. It was interesting but doesn't carry much weight in terms of its takeaway value.

The pacing was alright, with newer details every episode and more interesting fight scenes as the series progresses it was definitely great for its time. But what sets the whole show on fire is the immense work done by the voice actors. Believe me when I say this, but Alucards voice alone carries the entire show on the back of one Epic Character. I mean the cast is so good that they decided to reuse most of them in the remake that is Hellsing Ultimate.

The show is filled with action and almost never really settling for a peaceful ending. It mostly ends with a half-done battle or when the battle has just ended which leaves room for more set up in the next. An absolute star in its time, and one of the better ones of today.

168 Hellsing Ultimate
"The Bird of Hermes Is My Name, Eating My Wings To Make Me Tame"

With every episode that you watch, you will come face to face with this phrase. Which reinforces your curiosity of it. Which is great, this builds up all the way up till the climax of the entire series where everything else just explodes and become the literal essence surrounding the animation. Funny how the phrase alone seems redundant, and yet carries so much weight in just 1 scene and that is the one moment you get to experience the build up of the series as a whole.

Needless to say, Hellsing Ultimate is a major overhaul and a vastly superior upgrade to the original Hellsing 3 years back. This rendition stays faithful to the Manga version and sticks all the way into becoming a work of art all on its own.

The story is unique and original, the story telling and transition from point to point is steady. The art has been greatly improved, you easily tell that the animators and producers decided to go crazy on the budget but then again Madhouse rarely disappoints. It was just amazingly good.

The music feels like a reused version of the original series but still great nonetheless but this time they focused more on the story telling, character building, art, settings and everything else. The music just wasn't the focus. But the enjoyment is still the same, it is one hell of a roller coaster ride and just like the former. Every time Alucard appears you just have to hang tight and expect greatness the character is written in such a way that it is just sublime, amazing.

The characters this time are more fleshed out, with more substance and more details added into them. No random extras and everyone person that is part of the story is there because they have something to contribute. The great thing about this show is that it is willing to kill off characters as easily as they are ready to introduce them. Which is something most writers and artists are afraid to do. It takes a lot of guts and determination to write off something that you've so painstakingly built. Needless to say, the characters in this show are simply great. The writing feels unique and every one participant generates a purpose and feels genuine. The depth of the show is rather interesting. The only deviation this time is that Immortality is not an actual thing which is what makes the concept of Alucard so interesting. It brings the story telling of vampires on an entirely different scope. Turns out 'blood is much more valuable than it seems.' Great stuff.

There are somethings in life that we wish to do while we're at our best and this show does that exceedingly well. It proves that people are willing to stake everything they have just to relive a few glimpse of their glory days which is not uncommon in the world we live in today. People are selfish, bias but not unfeeling. Regrets cannot overcome one's determination to carry out their will when they've set their hearts into it.

The pacing of the show is superb, there isn't a single dull moment in this insane 10 episode fest. Every moment had its own chance to shine and a main takeaway. Although the show is gory and dark, there are moments where they add in bits of humour and comical actions to lighten the mood which I think is rather amusing. It seems that the writer & animators themselves felt that it was a little too serious as such to add in a couple moments of reprieve to keep the attention and details to a minimum when it comes to violence. An interesting take but somewhat weird.

The voice acting as usual is majestic, Alucard lives up to his legend alongside most of the original cast such as Sera & Walther, the characters help to bring life into the series and the series is carried forward by the intricate details within the narrative which aids the characters to shine even brighter.

When all is said and done, Hellsing Ultimate is a show that is able to entrance its audience every minute of the way. It is just that good, they just don't make stuff like these nowadays. Even when they do, it is rare. Hellsing Ultimate perhaps it was the Shingeki no Kyojin a decade ago. Definitely one of my favourites. A must watch for anime fans.

174 High School DxD Hero
Highschool DxD Hero an anime with questionable ability to salvage the mess that its predecessor created in 'Born' has enabled the series to make a resurgence by staying faithful to the source material with the deduction of the weird add on.

Furthermore, the creators had the capacity to recreate the debacle that was invented to turn the stomach of its audience to wipe their memory of the absolute cringe from the last season's finale.

Alright, I admit small bias. Given that I've already read the source material from the light novels. I've always held very high expectations for the show that got me so hyped into watching anime. Watching the first 6 episodes brought me back some pretty sleek nostalgia many years ago when I first touched its light novel. However, despite the course of time it still isn't able to do it justice but I suppose it is sufficient. Too high an expectation and we set ourselves to be disappointed.

Now onto the real deal, the story is great and to be honest quite original. If you're comparing it based on the light novel at its time. Although it is mainly made interesting through the adapted use of popular historical figures but what the heck. As long as its interesting right? But the real thing is Highschool DxD has the potential to be a legit title because the story is really really good. And I don't mean your typical action flash etcetera. There is proper build up and proper characters in place to help it shine. At the start the author might have meant to make it a purely fan service, ecchi title to attract the male audience... but I believe that overtime even he impressed himself of how well the series managed to go.

The story is refreshing and truthful to the source material if you've been lucky enough to have already read it. Although, the anime seems to rush it more than the novel due to budget and perhaps too much dialogue? The novel seems to be far more expressive and detailed but what the heck any animation and adaptation is what we'll take.

The art style is definitely different from the previous seasons but the story stays strong, but honestly you're not here for the art you're here for the plot. "Actual Plot", the music has always been good so no surprise there. They've made splendid use of their soundtrack and well it works.

Needless to say, I've been fanboying Highschool DxD for a very long time so when a good adaptation comes out you can be sure that I'll go nuts over it. I absolutely loved it.

The characters that matter are all likeable, though some tend to be questionable? o.o The light novel is able to downplay it more though. Perhaps because of the voice acting being too 'overzealous?'

There is great depth in Highschool DxD believe it or not there are multiple angles to look at it and every which way that you do. You can learn something from it. But it is your typical seinen plot and if you're able to imagine the potential is limitless.

The pacing is a little too fast paced for me, but 12 episodes. What can you do about that..

The episodes that matter, man do they keep you on your toes. But some of the fights have been toned down dramatically. But still great, the skeleton can be seen but the essence couldn't be felt..

Comedy fell short this season because this was arc was more serious. In fact as the series progresses it focuses less on ecchi and comedy and with actual character growth and progression. The next season is going to be lit. Fo Shure.

Well Romance in Highschool DxD is pretty much like most harems animes out there but perhaps. DxD is more tolerable as compared to the rest. But the light novel does it way better. Sorry to say but the real deal just isn't beatable.

Highschool DxD Hero is a great comeback from the catastrophe of its previous season 'Born' I am even more excited for season 5 now because I already know whats coming ^^

I just want to hear the emotions from the voice acting. Absolutely stunning work. and Thanks Kadokawa for reviving this absolute masterpiece.

It is pretty impressive to tie in cute elements within a show but at the exact time cut it in a way to make it extremely creepy. The change in tone, eerieness, and simple abstract difference in mood can make the audience feel nothing but anxiety and worry.

I'll be very honest here, it takes a lot to get me spooked but in just 2 episodes in (EVEN WITH ALL THE HINTS) it still managed to get me on edge simply because of how abrupt and creepy the narrative is written. The mannerisms, the character vibes, conversation quirks, simple things slowly add up to become something else entirely. Now that is masterful.

Arc 1: --> Suspicious --> A suggestion --> Hallucination --> DID? --> Multiple Personalities --> Trauma --> Pure Imagination.

Arc 2: Jealousy --> Intent, Emotions --> Hallucinations...

Starts off really confusing at first but as the narrative progresses and with each successive arc the story unfolds and elaborates on the mysteries through a different perspective.

The anime starts off with your typical harem anime. Main character is introduced to a bunch of girls and they all gradually like him. Like all op MC's they usually win in the end when the plot demands it. And yes he wins, the story tries not to be cliche but I guess effort for trying should be awarded.

The show although a harem, shows clearly who the MC prefers which is good, but really its a harem anime. The music is mediocre, character progression is really really shallow and almost non-existent.

There are few aspects helps to bolster this anime but it really falls flat due to the steep competition and really flat lined story and characters.

The show is almost hard to watch if there is no incorporation of humour.

187 Hunter x Hunter (2011)
Hunter x Hunter,

6 Arcs, 3 good 3 average.

For a series to span over 100 episodes would require good world-building and character progression. For that to happen, the narrative requires a compelling cast to keep the interest of the audience moving forward.

In terms of the narrative Hunter x Hunter succeeded in creating a pretty unique world with a pretty interesting power system. For a remade version the 2011 version of Hunter x Hunter had seemingly pushed beyond the boundaries of your average anime in its time. The art is splendid, with some of the best musics incorporated in anime that I've ever heard.

Unfortunately, this enjoyment dwindles when Hunter x Hunter is faced with its most challenging aspect. To be fair, there is a wide array of characters but unfortunately the story revolves around Gon which is probably the worst written character in the entire series. Gon was created to create a strong emphasis for Ging which is really sad because it makes a puppet character so to speak and for characters that revolve around Gon it then pretty much becomes a clown fiesta. But apart from Gon most of the characters are pretty good and well-written especially the Phantom Troupe and Chimera Ants.

The depth across the series is amazing, awe-inspiring even. But with 148 episodes at its disposal, the pacing could've been faster or even extended for specific fights. Unfortunately, this was a faithful adaptation of the Manga instead of deviating from it they could've added extra scenes that would not hinder the story progress but make things a little more exciting. (In this case it falls short.)

Voice acting is spot on and quite possible a big factor for making this series so great.

The intensity, however, isn't a deal-breaker because of plot shield as expected from a typical shonen. Unless you're invested in characters beyond the main cast. Which I was but still I found it lacking.

The drama mainly revolves around Gon and it is quite bad.

Overall Hunter x Hunter had a shot at being really great but it just fails to push beyond the barrier of becoming one of the greatest. There are many areas to improve on. But the areas that they are great at, very few can match its brilliance.

189 Ijiranaide, Nagatoro-san
Nagatoro-san is an anime that’s filled with plenty of side comedy that usually leads to lots of teasing as the title suggests. However, it is clear that the overall series lacks a proper narrative to build its characters. The entire story feels generic and pretty much more of the same from start till end, there are of course some progression between the main cast but it is very minimal so much so that it feels almost stagnant. The comedy works, but at times feel a little overplayed and draggy, this makes the narrative suffer because there simply isn’t much going on. Art and music is decent but I think I mainly enjoyed some of the cute moments throughout the series even though it wasn’t the most impressive work out there. However, it lacks depth and the lack of substance meant that the pacing is pretty much the same, the voice cast is actually pretty impressive since it nails the character tropes for the audience down to a tee. The main factor that helped Nagatoro-san stand out is its comedy and well some of the drama that comes along with it. Other than that it feels very basic and more of a distraction through your weekly schedule, but even then you might still find something better worth your time.

What makes this anime Ima, Soko Ni Iru Boku a genuine work of art is the fact that it is not pretentious. It is very to the person kind of animation. It shows the people's lack of power will to bend to others. Forced to do things against morals and pretty much what could happen when we are weak. Abuse, torture you name it and it can happen. People in general need something to rely on, a purpose to carry on. This anime shows it well through a average energetic boy that got caught up in a mad man's mess. The story itself is masterfully portrayed albeit a simple one. Music and depth is pretty well thought out and very enjoyable. Good stuff.

Wow, it's been awhile since I've seen an anime I enjoyed as much as this. The setting is extremely humorous and I enjoyed the bits of romance. This would've been perfect for me if the romance had gone even deeper or maybe a more detailed anime closure. I feel that there is still much material to cover for this anime. There is definitely potential to continue the series. The characters are very likeable, story wise is pretty mediocre, but the setting and mood and emotions is very very relatable. Overall this anime I think this anime satisfies the criteria perfectly, it has done a superb job to remain on track and not sidetracked as this wasn't meant to be a action kind of anime. Just a light hearted slice of life with added supernatural themes. The focus was on romance and comedy which is what made this anime awesome.

193 Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu
Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu, is an anime that has a very confusing identity. It tries to be like Overlord, but back peddles into the comedic route because of its Harem tag. Although there are some elements towards a unique narrative despite taking on the Isekai route it isn't very impressive.

The art is good and the character designs are aesthetically pleasing, the music is well incorporated to create a light and carefree mood that is suitable for the Isekai genre. But it lacks the emotional aspect to match the drama that it tries to narrate. Although the ecchi scenes are pretty much fan service and eye-candy for the audience it is hard to stomach a narrative that suffers from DID.

The characters are not properly fleshed and even at moments suffer from an identity crisis. Also, the side characters and antagonists that spawn along the way does it no favours as they tend to be pretty psychotic. Which makes sense because they are the antagonists but they leave such a bad taste in your mouth you wonder why the author created them in the first place. To create drama I suppose, but the unnecessary drama does not elevate the narrative instead it hinders the progression of it. The voice acting isn't really impressive so nothing to shout home about.

However, there are moments that are quite funny I suppose but with Comedy as one of its main tags, it isn't enough. With ecchi and harem, you can expect the romance to be pretty basic. But it is there if you really are looking for it.

I didn't really enjoy this title very much, that being said I rarely enjoy Isekais. It passes I suppose as a 4-5 the latter being more generous if you're having a good day.

194 Isekai Maou to Shoukan Shoujo no Dorei Majutsu Ω
Art is nice, but a little heavy-handed on the fan service though... that's probably why people watch this and others that are similar in the first place.

However, the protagonist talking as if he's in his chuunibyou phase is a little....

The characters may not be annoying, but they are naive to a fault and it makes it quite painful to watch. Now I remember why I didn't like the first season.

201 Itai no wa Iya nanode Bougyoryoku ni Kyokufuri Shitai to Omoimasu.
A unique take on an isekai-esque style. It actually tries to blend in a similar concept to Netoge no Yome but that one has a stronger focus on its comedy and fan service.

Sadly, they did not succeed in blending the real-life aspect of it. Understandably that isn't the focus but it would have helped to make the anime stand out more (if they could spice things up and make better comedy content.)

Art styles and music blended well together to create a cutesy and vibrant setting. (The main focus on being cute is actually a very nice touch and fitting for the theme of Bofuri.)

I did enjoy the bits of ridiculousness and senseless humour mainly because of the gag-style narrative. And fittingly so, a title like this has no unlikeable characters which help to make it a pretty good watch all things considering.

The main idea I really got from watching Bofuri is basically something as simple as "enjoying the game that you're playing" regardless of how you're playing just have fun.

The pacing felt alright but could've been much faster, that being said, the flow was still really good. Although comedy should be its main focus, I found it at times lacking. But to be fair, some of the action scenes were really amazing although predictable so it kills any form of intensity but it still makes for a good laugh.

202 Itazura na Kiss
Itazura Na Kiss, has a pretty stale or rather boring first impression for me. You know it sort of hit me with your typical unrequited love kind of story. But as it progresses you get to see the character development among not just the main characters but the supporting characters as well. I feel that what makes this anime stand out from your other slice of life romance comedy is that there is a lot of progression from the characters school life and on to their adult hood. Apart from that the final episode of this anime also sums up the story really nicely. Overall this anime is really good but perhaps if it was remade I believe it has the potential to be a far greater work than it already is.

On the brink of extinction, what would the remaining humans do in their bid for survival? Where everything else is uncertain and one can only wait for the end?

Do we preserve whatever is left of our culture? Do we continue to revive what has been lost? This anime answers questions about how Human's think through the course of time and the depiction of how people react based on situation. Exploitation, Deception, Perception. It all plays a role in terms of unifying or dissolving how communities act.

The anime takes a very light-hearted approach towards a potentially highly insightful piece of work. The cute drawings, and atmosphere alongside its music is to distract the views from perhaps the serious undertones that the anime is trying to portray. This alone magnifies the term of deception as per the Writer's intention if I am not mistaken.

There isn't a definite story, as from what I've seen thus far but rather situations where the characters are placed in or find themselves in. The purpose is to understand and adapt based on the predicament that they are in. The dilemmas serve as the pivotal point towards the episode's progression.

205 Jormungand
As much as I love stories relating to the mafia/underground activities as they usually incorporate the concept of fierce loyalty. Jormungand played around a very interesting concept but left me a little unsatisfied with the way the narrative played out.

To start off, I felt that the story took a rather meaningful spin of your usual story telling as it dabbles in real-life politics relating to guns and warfare. That is the unique aspect and the only one that the series has. The art and music is decent veering towards good but I can't say that I enjoyed the show very much. There were times where the combat was uninteresting and blatantly unrealistic. What kept the show good was possibly the large ensemble of characters the show introduces and it helps to keep it interesting as the various characters provides a different colour to the canvas that is Jormungand. I would say that the show itself is quite meaningful if you're dealing with real-world politics and understanding the flow of information alongside currency and weapons. Much can be learnt from the show, but I have to say the pacing wasn't very fantastic there were times I felt that the narrative was slow despite progression there wasn't much going on other than gun fights here and there. The intensity wasn't there, as the show makes sure that its main cast are untouchable. It was an okay watch but nothing too amazing.

206 Jormungand: Perfect Order
Just like its prequel, Jormungand starts with an interesting concept following up on the narrative that it has set in motion. But as the story progresses, the characters didn't. It still felt the same old individuals doing what they do in their everyday routine but with a new mission. Of course this time there was something different as the show is kicking into gear to push the narrative forward. But really it felt inconsequential, there were times where the combat just felt flat out boring and uninteresting.

The characters were the same, with barely any development and the overall depth of the show remained stagnant. Sure it was interesting to know more about the purpose of why the series protagonist go to such lengths to do what she does but honestly, it was pretty late in the series and at the point it just felt stale.

Jormungand should've been a 24 episode season rather than splitting into 2 seasons, but honestly it wasn't as good as I would've hoped. The show does touch on about politics and arms dealing just like how our world works around us but in a less realistic manner despite how the writers try to be realistic in terms of describing said events.

Overall, it was a show with a decent idea and interesting concept but failed in terms of its execution and more importantly the ability to keep the narrative exciting.

211 Just Because!
A pretty standard slice of life anime focusing on the theme of high school graduation and the frustrations of love be it unrequited or mutual.

The plot is pretty linear, with barely any twists to it, there is however a good thing to point out. That there are barely any hate-worthy characters within this anime.

The music and art complements well with the theme of the anime. But due to the fact that this romance/school genre has been reused this much the show was barely able to stand out against what we have today.

Just Because! portrays a take on slow progression through its pacing, the 'pretty slow' approach allows for the characters to slowly build and grow as you watch the series. The art style may not be appealing at the first glance but as the series progresses it becomes a norm that is acceptable.

Character progression is technically a non-factor apart from the 1 character where the show's dilemma seem to revolve around over.

Overall, Just Because is a decent take on the genre but is barely able to stand out due to strong competition already within this field. Predictability was not considered because it is irrelevant, the show was entertaining to say the least but not exciting. A decent watch nonetheless if you're willing to afford the time..

212 Juuni Taisen
To start off, Juuni Taisen is a story that takes a pretty interesting take on the classical Battle Royale theme but centered around 12 'unique individuals' as per reflection of the 12 zodiacs.

The writing tries its best to link the characters and the way they react to their zodiac types but falls short in its execution. The story had the potential to pull itself across to become one of the better Battle Royale styled anime had it stuck onto a more decently paced and properly thought out narrative.

Instead it feels like the creator just thought of riding the hype train of squeezing as much cash they thought possible using this genre. So what we have here in this "Juuni Taisen" title is a pretty low budget style anime with pretty below average art and terrible pacing.

I would like to point out however, that the music was actually pretty decent. It gave me a little of Devil Survivor vibes with its opening, or maybe a little Mirai Nikki. But then again it wasn't sufficient to carry this show given how heavy it is.

Needless to say, I barely enjoyed it as the story was pretty pathetic, it wasn't that the characters are written poorly but rather how it is paced and how they react to the situations that they are in.

Let's not forget that these 12 individuals are supposedly pretty good in their craft and yet they fall like flies. Even if the plot demanded death, they could've at least gone out with something more. But instead, it felt like really lazy writing. Why bother going with a background story that lasts 5-6 minutes of air time for the character to die in 30 seconds afterwards. This logic and thought process eludes me.

Needless to say, the characters in the entire series sucked hard. With the exception of the Rabbit, Ox, Tiger, Chicken and Goat. The rest were truly bad and pathetic. It was a pain to watch.

The pacing sucked hard and really it felt like they just wanted to let you know how these people came onto the game and poof they donezoed.

Voice acting was meh, even with some pretty big names on the roster there weren't many opportunities for them to showcase their talents. It just felt like a waste of money hiring them. With what little dialogue they had or rather pointless dialogue that didn't actually contribute to much it just feels bad.

When the backstory feels more intense than the actual fights going on you know its terrible.

The show barely has any redeeming qualities and turns out that the winner didn't even need the reward or wanted to win in the first place.
Makes me wonder why he even bothered or tried since he had zero determination or drive. Maybe he just wanted to live his life peacefully.

I guess we will never know because everything that is given to us felt like it was pulled directly out of the author's ass and served to us.

Pretty bad anime, but there are worse still out there.

I would advise to avoid it.

214 Kakegurui
Kakegurui or rather "Compulsive Gambler" is a title that doesn't lie. The anime centers around gambling but that is merely a facade to cover the clever plot the writer has in stored for his audience. Gambling as it suggests is highly dependent on luck but at times one's skill could be so far above that it cancels the possibility of luck becoming a factor within the game. The idea is instead of a 50-50 it becomes something more of a calculated risk rather than a coin toss. Which is why, the author focused on revealing every individual's sleight of hand as the story progresses to intrigue his audience to decipher every puzzle when a new opponent appears to challenge our main character.

The story on its own is pretty dry as it centers around gambling, but the main selling point was never about gambling it was focused solely on the characters interacting with one another and how gambling dictate their personalities. Be it for personal gain, pleasure or simply safeguarding one's own interests. What makes the show an absolute treat is its stellar soundtrack alongside the art and graphics being easy on the eyes. The character details are fleshed out pretty well and their exact expressions are one of the major factors that helps to bring the characters onto a new level of interest for their audience. Their eccentricity piques the audience's interest, although the show starts a little boring at the start it starts to pick itself up as the story progresses as some games tend to be more interesting than the other and it becomes more of being perceptive and observant as to understand the way it is played. But due to its nature, the show felt a little fast at the start which costed the character development of some characters, alongside this there was also a lack of background information regarding the council members which seem to be the core of the series. Had they been fully fleshed out this anime could've really been something else.

Needless to say, I enjoyed it. I liked the fact that the show tapped on the concept of calculated risks, pure gamble, chance and addiction they're very factual and actual things that happen to us in reality and to see the reflection of how people can/may/even react provides us with a slice of reality which more often than not teaches us the harsh reality of human nature. Because at times even when we do not agree or to be honest with ourselves. We like to take risks, even when we know we shouldn't we just do it. The main character Jabami Yumeko although the centerpiece of the entire show is to some extent a pretty annoying character due to how thick her plot shield is. Her ability to perceive almost everything makes it less enjoyable due to the fact that she never loses. Even when she does it is because she wanted it to happen, when everything goes according to plan with the MC there is no real challenge and thus the audience is left with an OP Character which simply dulls the series in general. But still enjoyable nonetheless due to the fact that the author tends to deviate from standard story telling and go straight into ridiculous plot points and theories of unraveling the tricks and making the MC attempt 'pure gambles' to win her matches.

But the true icing on the cake to make this anime so good is none other than the stellar voice acting from the entire cast. Their range from being normal into going absolutely aberrant is something unique and quite frankly interesting. Huge shout out to Hayami Saori for her amazing performance on the character you can never find a more suitable VA for the role of Yumeko when the VA herself usually fits the role of a 'calm demeanor' character based on her voice. But I guess that's the power of being a voice actress your range is absolutely powerful. The episodes are packed with exciting plot points throughout and every episode you can expect something new to happen. The series tend to adopt a 2-episode approach with each consecutive 2 joints to create an arc to keep its audiences enticed and entertained as they progress towards the narrative.

A pretty good entry I would recommend watching this to avoid most of the mainstream stuff we have today but I guess it may not be for everyone.

215 Kakegurui××
Starting right off, the previous season Kakegurui XX continues where the MC battles her rival and ends up in a draw. You could say that was the highlight of the previous season with an ultimate showdown but without a conclusion. Unfortunately this season, doesn't provide much closure either. But there is some good news, there are newer characters that are just as interesting if not even more so than the previous council members in the former season which helps to bring a whole new take on the series. As the antagonists are now even more eccentric with outright purpose that is clear and more decisive as compared to the former.

Perhaps it is within my personal bias, but I preferred the music in this season compared to the last but they're both almost equally good. The art style has remained the same as the previous season, but due to the fact that there are so many female characters it makes the guy characters look more appealing and badass when they do appear 'apart from the wimpy guy that appeared from the start lol'. The introduction of the clan members was a nice touch to bring a new organisation and cabinet to challenge the current student council even though it was already in shambles due to the consecutive losses they've suffered in the previous season. Nevertheless, the addition of the new cast adds more flavour towards the show and in turn creates a whole new level of excitement and anticipation as you'd try to figure the way the play and the type of games they would partake in.

The new cast brings about new ways to play and in turn provides their own twist, perhaps the author himself felt that Yumeko was winning too much and and as such decided to turn the focus away from her and he did it really well as once the spotlight was turned off featuring another character. It helped to make them shine even brighter giving the characters a 'clean slate' per se and thus generating a once unlikeable character into one that is very likeable. Rarely you see such character development within a show done so nicely that doesn't feel like a total ass pull.

Needless to say, I enjoyed season 2 much more. The new characters were an absolute treat my only disappointment was that we didn't get to see more of them in action. The anime should've been given more budget that way we could've had more exciting games with more complex puzzles to challenge our minds.

The depth of the show like the previous season focuses much on perception and how you're able to spot the mistakes of the others. Gambling when we're not talking about blind luck we're talking about bluffing in other words psyching out your opponents and this anime portrays it well. The pacing was absolutely delectable, you would always feel enticed to know what happens next as they utilise the joint function which often leave it off a cliff hanger leaving you to anticipate for more which is a really smart way to plan for the eventual continuation.

As usual, the cast for the VAs have been selected very well, the characters are simply brought to life which prevents the show from staying stagnant and boring. With the main focus on gambling the only way to make this series succeed was to create interesting characters and the VAs help to cement the fact that without a good voice the characters would just feel dull no matter how good the writing is. The intensity in this season was far greater as the threat supersedes that of the previous season. My one issue was that the final villain for this season was not nearly as impressive as the previous season. But hey the final villains for both seasons were extremely underwhelming to begin with. Compared to the challenges that we've been shown it was pretty tragic. Nonetheless, it is still a good watch. A great sequel to a good anime.

217 Kami no Tou
Tower of God, a very hyped up title for its time.

With a somewhat interesting premise, the series started off somewhat intriguing but the essence and excitement felt very mellowed in the coming episodes. With a very unexpected budding of friendships from the very beginning to really ridiculous situations, the anime utilises some pretty basic anime tropes such as an OP Main Character alongside ultra-thick plot shields surrounding the side characters. I would go out and say that the narrative isn't anything impressive or unique but the art style for the anime is something else and the effects used are pretty up there with series that possesses serious budgets to burn. The music is a pretty touch with fitting themes to go along some of the most intense scenes in the series. The ending song is really good too, so I got to give a shout out to that.

I did not really enjoy the series mainly because I felt that the Main Character lacked substance, that being said there were a couple of characters that felt rather bland and pretty much set aside as the comic relief. Well, that is definitely not a good sign, because this comic relief is unlike most, they are actually being used to push the narrative forward. This moves away from the serious tone and in turn, creates a situation that is contrary to what the author intended. In other words, confusion within the narrative that is brought to life by the character's existence.

That being said, most of the characters introduced are actually pretty good. Although they do require some time before they start growing on the general audience. But because of this, you will soon realise the existence of the plot shield amongst these characters. In a sense, it kills the intensity during the action scenes, thus killing the drama alongside it.

I would say that the pacing of the anime is adequate given the direction of the narrative, but it lacked the substance to be something truly amazing. Although there were a couple of interesting characters they were not capitalised well, or perhaps they are meant to be expanded upon in a second season. But as with most anime's, you really require the first season to shine. Lacking a powerful start really kills the fanbase, and to rely on the popularity of the source material tends to be somewhat detrimental because an animated series would generally draw far more attention. If it lacks the inspiration and excitement infectious enough to spark the interest of a broader audience the potential to be great can be somewhat treated as non-existent.

Needless to say, the hype for this anime is well-deserved, with a pretty stacked roster of well-known VA's it is hard not to get excited but it felt somewhat disappointing to me. A 7 feels really generous in my opinion because the series failed to capitalise on major points that could be seriously thought-provoking.

However, I would like to mention that the depth of the series "Tower of God" is truly something well thought out and relatable to everyone. If it depicts life as a whole, then the climb is all that matters. We would do whatever it takes to get what we want. And this series does well to portray this simple logic, but it really talks a lot more on philosophy, line of thought and many other potential areas of discussion. Which is somewhat hilarious to me because the direction of the anime doesn't seem to flow well, the lack of identity for the Main Character and his sidekicks alongside an overly complicated narrative is something the audience would most likely not appreciate. Then again, this could all just be a set up for a true banger for season 2 if they get it.

^ We have seen a couple of titles that capitalises on this concept of using its first season as the stepping stone to creating a true work of art in the sequel.

220 Kanojo, Okarishimasu
The main character is a self-entitled prick which makes the generic feel of the anime extremely shallow and somewhat irritating to watch.

The actual use of cliche here seems more convenient than most such that it becomes way more annoying and triggering to the viewer (IMO)

The show progresses with the MC still being a degenerate such that it inconveniences everyone around him. Imagine living a lie, but its a lie that requires another to lie for you. It becomes ridiculous that the lie implicates the other just because the instigator doesn't have the balls to do the right thing.

Even as the show progresses the MC really is irredeemable, the girl is nice. But a little too nice, sure such people exists but overtime you'll realise with a touch of reality that being too nice causes you to lose out in life and become a detriment to your personal lifestyle etc.

Most anime's hinges on a good MC or side characters to carry it, this isn't one of those. This is just something I'd advise to avoid. I was attracted because of the cast of VA's and having seen some parts of the manga but it just confirms to me that this is just a bad anime.

The protagonist is so bad as a person, that it just leaves such a disgusting taste in your mouth. When the side character have to lash out at the MC just to voice what the audience think. Man just think how pathetic it really is. (But of course, there comes a time where situations of convenience acts as catalyst for character growth and progression. Props to the author, for making it better when it matters.)

Music is really fitting, and the art is easy on the eyes. Other than fan-service shots there are few things going for this anime. With perhaps the focal point of the series centering around "Girlfriends" they are the core characters that help to add flavour into the show. But as usual, the MC is indecisive and to a certain extent borderline creepy. I'm not too sure if people like that exist, but it feels like an embodiment of what people at their worst base form would imagine themselves to be and he is practically that.

It would take a hell lot of progression and some serious backbone to recover from such a catastrophic character arc.

Needless to say as the series progresses, the character does improve and up to a certain extent pushes the narrative forward but that's just it. The face value of what you see is really what you get. Very linear and little substance, perhaps this is what the author is going for. Definitely not very interesting but it is eye-candy for people who likes cute girls....

221 Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san
At the get go, the show entices its audience through its feel good vibe and careless, free-spirited nature. Accurately depicting the life of school kids or rather implied life that school kids should have. I wouldn't go far to say that the series itself focuses much on romance, despite what the the name suggests. Instead it captures the conflicted views of school kids in their youth and how they naturally think at that age. The comedy fits the theme well, though not the best I've seen, the setting of the anime is generally cute that is complemented by well fitting art and music.

Despite not having a definitive story, the show excels in depicting the increased interactions between the characters which in turn improves the relationship surrounding said characters. The characters are very cute and their interactions play around this specific factor which in turn acts as the main switch for the romance.

Although not the best, Kaze no Stigma does have its moments when it matters. We also have to take into consideration that this is a pretty dated anime.

Although some bits of the narrative is good, it felt confused along the way from start to end. Art styles and music have the tendency to grow on you and the anime's lengthy 24 episodes segment still managed to juggle its time and pacing well.

Characters are not overly well developed but they aren't too terrible either. The true standout points for Kaze no Stigma is its ability to build depth, tension and somewhat tickle the audience's emotions during critical moments.

Voice acting is pretty good with many notable figures in the scene but they lack the star quality and raw emotion behind the characters I can only imagine that such quality was not present in anime back then.

Romance should not have been a tag in the anime as it barely satisfies the specific criteria and instead Drama should have been because it actually manages to build consistently produce some form of drama in each of its arcs.

224 Kekkai Sensen
If visuals are all it took to help a title succeed then Kekkai Sensen would be a masterpiece. Unfortunately, that is not the case.

At the very beginning, the show already started off with a very disjointed and somewhat ambiguous introduction. Yet despite progressing it didn't get any better. The sideline humour did it no favours either because of how butchered the narrative is. Random humour is actually detrimental because it confuses the audience, there is a time and place to be serious and funny and this show really puts it to you all the wrong ways to mesh them together. This is probably one of the worst narratives that I've stumbled upon within the many titles I've seen and I love anime. But I couldn't enjoy any aspect of the story of this.

The only saving grace of this anime is its art, music and voice acting which indicates clearly that this title had a pretty serious budget to burn. I'm hoping that it is just me missing out some serious details while watching Kekkai Sensen because it sucked hard. I took no pleasure at all watching this, and the only positive thing I can say about the characters is that they are well-drawn. They are all bland and their development and or personalities are very bland to the point that you're staring at a wall and stick figures. Except you've animated them and give them some lines to narrate. They lack any form of personality its really bad. The pacing is literally all over the place, had I known better I'd assume that this is a variety show style anime because there is barely any chronological progression in the series you can have a fight scene in one episode and going to the meal in the next. Its really illogical in any forms of entertainment and I bet you that a variety show would have a better narrative than this.

Yet despite all the voice acting talent, they couldn't carry this sad show out of the dumps. I guess it is a good thing that this is popular? Whatever most of the people are seeing, I am clearly missing out because this is one of the worst anime titles I've seen. There is barely any intensity because of the out of place humour and the ultra-thick titanium plot armour you won't ever once feel worried for the characters or even if you do they just swat the dust of their clothes in the next scene anyways soo... I can't really say much other than to question the direction of the narrative.

As I said, there is a fine line between proper comedic routes and times to be serious this one utilises comedy in any form they can, YOU CAN EXPECT ONE OR 2 STUPID SCENES PER EPISODE. It's not funny its just stupid so no need to steel yourself for it.

When a character from the series states that there isn't enough nonsense you already know that you're in for a treat. That's how well explained this title is. A nonsensical disaster.

3/10 and that is me being generous because of the gorgeous art, nice music and voice acting talent. Every aspect failed. In fact, it felt mentally draining to watch it.

There are so many angles to make this series a true masterpiece if they just had some focus or clarity in the story writing but instead we got this.

^ They could've doubled down on action scenes, or focus on character building, or actually build a proper story around the characters. But no we have 12 episodes that barely connect to each other at all.

Let's not forget the first episode set the premise and pace for the series but honestly, Episode 11 set a better premise for the series for a good finale but guess what it doesn't happen it just feels like a very terrible mistake. The purpose of obtaining something at a cost is thrown out the window in the next 11 episodes after the first. You'll understand what I mean if you watch it because it's like the true purpose got forgotten along the way and its really tragic to the point that it is insulting to the audience. Even the ending is so stupid, the antagonist literally gives up? Or rather just set the whole thing up for fun just to add unnecessary drama? Seriously this is just such a no-no.

I sincerely hope that this is me missing out important details because this is really bad.

Gag anime at its core, senseless comedy throughout the entire series. With barely any proper narrative this isn't really anything of substance.

It entails really cute characters --> Chibis in particular, with some pretty good voice acting. However, it isn't my cup of tea.

This is the kind of anime you watch when you want a break from the mainstream content, but there are many others to confer towards as compared to this.

It is certainly cute and some moments are funny but that is just it. Average at best with many other alternatives that would make the cut and go beyond it by a large margin. (The ed is very catchy tho)

Watching it back to back might get fairly annoying.

226 Kimetsu no Yaiba
I've always had a bad habit to procrastinate doing many things, but I solely believe that this habit, in particular, is what enables me to enjoy a piece of content to the best of its capacity.

And the highly acclaimed title Kimetsu no Yaiba - Demon Slayer (it's better-known counterpart) is no exception. I knew it was great, having watched snippets of its epic scenes on YouTube I was convinced that this would be one of the better series to close out the decade of 2010-2020. But it was only after starting to set aside the time to binge the series did I understand why the popularity of this anime is so tremendous. Just like Shingeki no Kyojin, its popularity is justified. Simply being, SNK was great due to its originality and world-building. KNY (Kimetsu no Yaiba) shines in its amazing cast of characters and their backgrounds where the entirety of the narrative revolves around the characters which they feature. Both with a different focus and yet they're both great masterpieces in their own right. Some might say that the writing for this anime is poorly done, but to be fair if you're able to see things from the author's point of view or perhaps obtain a workaround on viewing things from a perspective other than your own. Maybe then you could understand why this anime is such a masterpiece.

Now let's get started with an actual review of this great anime known as Demon Slayer. As a writer, how would you know if you've made an impression on your audience, at the very first episode no less? That's right, you start by kicking them straight in feels, playing everything out as a happy go lucky type of setting just to be thrown into the shit moments after. Don't get me wrong, this isn't the recipe for success but the way the author made the setting complemented the theme so well that it felt second nature to the series as a whole. The first episode alone is enough to send shivers down your spine because of its implicit and no-nonsense approach. The foreshadowing and tease from the extras was merely the start of what the audience can expect."The great calm before a mighty storm" and the writer delivered this marvellously.
But every story has to start somewhere and the writer wasted no time planting a convenient yet effective method, the main character and his family but what can the writer do to ensure that the protagonists continue their journey relentlessly? That's right, by instating a purpose and a raison d'etre to ensure that there is an end goal to meet alongside the expectation of something more or rather to the light at the end of the tunnel. Now to begin, the main theme of this show is actually familial warmth and the bonds we share as individuals living together. Whether we like it or not, we cannot choose nor can we change how other people act but we can change ourselves for the better. Be it love for oneself or love for another, the author is able to pen down her thoughts rather effectively and trigger the tender heartstrings of her audiences well. And make no mistake, this isn't your typical Nakama Power nonsense. People often joke about how Naruto uses Talk no Jutsu (it has become a full-fledged meme at this point) well guess what, the Main Character in this series exploits the power of his mind to overcome the many obstacles ahead.

Maybe the author herself understands that everything within us as humans are only limited by ourselves. The mind is a very powerful tool and what limits us is our very own thoughts and expectations, when we remove what we could potentially accomplish or cannot do we are setting an expectation over an intended result. But this is different when we just ignore our limiters to attempt something rather than just thinking. This itself is a dangerous thought but the results may at times surprise you. This is interesting because of how real this actually is. If the people in our current era forsake the thought of what if I fail and ignore the cannot's and just focus on the do's we'd get far more results and greater successes. That is quite frankly how our Main Character is able to push forward even when the odds are stacked so ridiculously against him. The bonds that he shares are just that much stronger than the forces opposing him. The human mind is able to overcome the most impossible of odds when faced with a life and death situation. Our desperate attempts to stay alive is the depiction of the last vestiges of our existence, it is what causes strange phenomenons to take form which again highlights our greatest attribute as human beings. “Our ability to adapt.”

Humans are weak, that is why we band together to form communities. It is an undeniable fact as shown through our history. It is essential for our survival, in this show the demon counterparts are the representation of strength the direct opposite of weakness. Which is why they seek to work alone and be solitary. (This is further explored on in potential seasons/manga) (but we will not touch on that here)
The genius in Kyoharu Goutoge's narrative is that she is able to create characters with relatable stories and backgrounds which in turn causes the audience to sympathise and empathise with. In turn it also depicts that everyone has a lot in life, and not all are blessed that is why we humans are 'Unequal'. When we are born, we just have to accept what we are given and live with it. Do not complain that the rules are unfair because nothing in this world is. And Kyoharu's writing will ease this concept into the very depths of your mind as you watch the series moving forward. From the very first episode, everything is thrown into a spiral and thus our Protagonist begins on his arduous journey in a venture of something that is quite possibly impossible. The story alone is very touching and heart-wrenching, it is almost as if the writer herself has been part of such tragedies and or rather is exposed/made known to them. She is able to find a purpose to reason and justify why bad things happen, a factor, a situation, everything in constant, one final outcome. Everything happens for a reason but why do things turn out differently when the same situation is pitted amongst others? Because every individual is different, we all have our own problems and we face them differently. This show does a damn good job in depicting this.

The story starts out in a very fluid way, every episode covers important aspects for the plot to progress. For how dark this show actually is, the writer incorporates light-humour to offset the extreme negative feelings brought about by the show as it moves forward. One of the main highlights of why Kimetsu no Yaiba is such a masterpiece is that the writer has an absurd cast of characters and for her to come up with background stories for almost every one of them is mindblowing. Every villain in the series has a background story, not sure if this was the writer's intention to justify why people do bad things. But everyone has to start somewhere and bad things can happen to anyone. It is more of how we cope with them moving forward. Kyoharu utilises the transition between her narrative well, from action into recovery and into world-building. I would say that this is a recipe for success, given that the series never felt boring even for a second. It was extremely engaging, not to mention hilarious given the side characters interactions depicted a touch of humanity in a world where demons roam it helps to have these short bits of comedy to keep things light. It refreshes the audience's mood for what is to come next. I am unable to delve much into the story without spoiling it but the narrative is written in such a way that people behave in such a way that they do is mainly due to the circumstances that they are in. We do not choose to be where we are but we can choose to become who we want to be.

The art in this anime is simply mind-boggling, it felt as though they had the budget to create another season of attack on titan. Imagine a series rivalling an anime that is arguably going to be the anime of the decade. That alone is pretty insane, the attention to details for the characters, environment and effects is simply outstanding. It wouldn't be exaggerating to say that this anime could potentially be the next Shingeki no Kyojin. Although the tone and approach are different its popularity is undeniable, the music is well done and quite simply extremely fitting for the tone and setting of this anime. It is unsettling when it needs to be, light-hearted when required and epic when needed. The openings and ending are sung by LiSA nuff said. Not to mention the character song that is played when one of the epic fights occurred no wonder the author herself cried, it was really one of the "Caption Moments in Anime History."

Needless to say, I freaking enjoyed this anime, I mean I can totally see myself rewatching this again and again without ever feeling bored or unimpressed. It is just that good, the characters are very interesting each and every one of them provides a different perspective and there is always more than what meets the eye. If you've not seen the background story for that character, don't sell them short it isn't because they don't have one. It is just that they haven't gotten their chance to showcase it. When you have the audience loving not just the main characters but the side characters you know you've got a great piece of work here. BUT to go a step further, to make your audience empathise and like even the antagonists now that is awe-inspiring. It isn't easy to create likeable characters and Kyoharu is able to imagine and create an assembly of likeable casts left and right. It almost feels like it is second nature to her, it is simply astounding. When you're exposed to content like this, you know that you've got a binge-worthy series on your hands. Given how this anime takes no chill to another level, you will always be on a roller coaster of emotions.

In terms of its depth, there are many things that can be learnt from this anime but let us cover a few that Kyoharu has so graciously outlined for us the audience. Good and bad, are two sides of the same coin, how can we determine which is right from wrong? Who gets to decide that? The fact remains that we as individuals dictate what we should think and how we should feel, not based on what people tell us. It is true that the strong get to decide what happens and the weak can only cower in fear if they refuse to fight back. Because if you don't try you will never know if you could have done something differently or made a difference in your situation. At times when the forces against us are so overwhelming that we start to despair, it is easy to let the fear settle in and cloud our judgement it is only until much later that we regret our actions and start to realise the folly of our decision. But once you've made a mistake does that mean that you're forever lost? Is there no chance of redemption? No, there is always a turning point but you must be brave enough to take the first step. Because at the end of the day, it is us and only us who can change ourselves to rely on others to do it for us is simply pathetic. Because even when it succeeds the results are not borne through your individual efforts it was forced out of you by another. Can you truly say that you lived that life? Or rather did what you wanted to? To live without regrets, one must first believe that within themselves on what they're doing is truly right and just. Sometimes circumstances force us to become what we are not, but if things turn out the way they are who then is able to determine if that they're doing is truly wrong? What seems wrong to you might seem right to me, to judge without considering both perspectives is wrong. There is an abundance of hidden meanings and depth to be derived from this series and to cover it all would require serious discussion, but to stay on track let's just say that everything happens for a reason.

Needless to say, a budgetless series like Kimetsu no Yaiba is practically exposed to one of the most stacked Voice Acting casts I've ever witnessed, even the extras and side characters are voiced by very prominent VA's within their field of expertise, when you have the likes of Kaji Yuki, Kana Hanazawa, Hayami Saori, Sakurai Takahiro, Shimono Hiro. You know that you'll be in for a treat. There's a reason why these individuals are all prominent VA's. The studio would never go to such expenses to hire such talent to waste away, this just goes to show how big a potential this series held and how much it is loved by even the cast for them to want to be part of it even as a side character no less.

Even when the narrative at times starts becoming predictable, you almost always feel for the main characters and want them to come out ahead, but when they do you start feeling bad for their opponents even though they've been so threatening just moments ago. Every scene and combat brings about tremendous growth for our cast and it helps to develop the series into a gem among gems. The main antagonist is something else, the unsettling feeling that he brings about and how he is the main reason we even have this series is a testament to how great a character he is. Overall, the anime generally takes on a pretty dark tone but the author is able to create silly situations to distract the audience from it. Almost as if to depict that, even within the darkest depths you can still search for the light and eventually is shines just as brightly as ever before.

I absolutely loved the series and can't wait for the its sequel, I know for a fact that the upcoming movie will just be an enabler for Season 2. I am extremely hyped and can't wait to feast my eyes on this absolute treasure.

A definite recommendation for anyone out there that seeks to watch a great piece of work, perhaps even one of the greatest anime of all time.

Practically the same thing, except that the first episode is completely new and original --> I actually thought that they'd be animating the add-on from the extended manga chapter for Rengoku's past but apparently that wasn't the case.

9/10 is pretty fair IMO, for how good the 1st episode is.

As for the remaining 6 episodes, there really isn't much difference from it and the movie, you'll get a better experience watching the movie instead.

Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien, can be categorized as your average romance tragedy anime. Though there are some aspects that make it stand out from the rest. The way the characters are portrayed the situations that revolve based on one's actions helped to make this anime one that is impressive in its own right. It starts off with a confession and .... Things pretty much evolve from that. The art in this anime is good, and the music is amazing. Overall this anime has been a nice watch for me. I would recommend to watch this if you're trying to take a break from all the action animes. :P

236 Kimi ni Todoke
It's been such a long time since I've watched a typical Slice of Life Romance, with the main focus being on just the romance part. And it seems that it was quite possibly the very thing that I longed for and was something that I was searching for indeed for a very long time. It almost gave me the exact same feeling as I did when I first watched Clannad. And that is saying something because I absolutely loved Clannad

To everyone, with your first look into "Kimi ni Todoke" you'll undoubtedly picture this anime to be your typical Slice of Life, school life centered Rom-Com. And you'll be absolutely right, it indeed plays towards those popular tags but if I am being honest, the show itself possesses so much more potential than the first few episodes suggest. Because this really isn't your cliche, "Ohh Shy girl meets popular boy troupe and then they hook up w/e gets friends that nonsense" If <<<< is what you're looking for then just leave because you'll be disappointed.

I would go far to say that it would be absolutely unfair to compare this anime to Clannad because.. "IMO Clannad popularised the Romance/Drama Genre, anything else compared against it will pale in comparison you just can't beat the original.." However, Kimi ni Todoke has its merits unlike most of the typical Rom-Com and SOL titles offered today, this anime alike Clannad builds the romance and narrative in a very realistic way rather than the usual random falling in love without any background or insubstantial backstory.

Really when I witness such stories it is just simply insulting to true works of art like this one. To tackle romance realistically, one must first start by building relationships. This serves as the very foundations for the potential progression moving forward. And guess what progression in life leads to drama and this show is not lacking in it, but the best part is not the fact that it isn't blasted full of drama but it eases itself in so smoothly that it barely affects the flow of the show to give out the appearance of "being a forced drama". Instead it serves as the natural tide as the series progressed.

Based on my sentence above, you've guessed it the show focuses more on friendship rather than Romance because in real life that's where we all start. The best part being it is so real! Because misunderstandings can happen so easily thus generating unnecessary tension but if we are willing to put in the effort, there is nothing we cannot resolve if the misunderstanding revolved around us.

In terms of the art and music, Kimi ni Todoke has done a very good job in adapting light colours, serene backgrounds and interesting lighting for its specific settings. The music is very fitting and at times just simply astounding, the arrangement is able to create emotions and evoke them at the best and most opportune moments to get its audience's attention.

I would say that the series has been entertaining, there is just enough tension, comedy and romance to keep the narrative going without feeling too draggy nor boring. However, there are times where I felt that the pacing was a little slow but the developments were to some extent 'essential' for the growth of the character. The balance is what kept the series from being so good, and that is hard to achieve but I guess being allotted 25 episodes and making good use of them is also a crucial part of the general flow of the series's progression.

In terms of the characters, the main cast at the get go are able to catch the attention of the audience without much effort because their personalities feel genuine. The subtle use of comedy helps to generate a feel-good vibe which makes the show enjoyable throughout despite the heavy handed (SOL, Romance combo). Trust me most anime's fail due to ^ and it is because they lack the actual substance to help it succeed.

The use of comedy is masterful which helps to create the general liking towards the characters the main appeal is the level of cuteness, which is to be expected especially from a shoujo title.

In terms of depth, for me the show emphasized the importance of friendship and the irrational behaviour that is arises when an individual is 'lovestruck' (as corny as that sounds.)

Here are my thoughts on both,

"Friendship is a beautiful thing, and it is very precious simply due to the way we perceive who our friends are. A friend can be a term so generic and simple yet so complex at the same time. The real question is, what is a friend to you? Does being friendly, having idle chatter and being considerate to another person means that you are indeed friends? Or is it the ability to trust and be willing to reveal the person at your very core your truest self to another person? What is a friend? What denotes friendship? If I had to say, it is something very beautiful and it is the bonds that ties individuals together that allows us to behave naturally instead of carrying a false front. Friends are people who we are unafraid to approach regardless of the situation, they are people we can rely on during our time of greatest need."

"Love is indeed a very powerful emotion, it enables us to be illogical in our actions. Because it is the emotion that evokes a power that overpowers everything else within our logical minds, it forces us to exert our will subconsciously and based purely on emotions. Logical individuals understand that emotions if left unchecked would lead to disaster. But no one can ever take into account the level and magnitude that surrounds the most powerful of emotions."

Overall, I am quite impressed and satisfied in the narrative. To be honest, there were a few moments where it caught me off guard in terms of the raw emotions it was able to evoke. A very worthy title, and it is clear that this is the build up for season 2. Adopting the same style Clannad did back then, I just hope that it will be as good.

237 Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season
To start off, when a series is lucky enough to have a sequel due to its popularity and or general budget with all other extenuating circumstances considered you'd expect that the narrative gets some decent progression.

But that is not the case for Kimi ni Todoke's 2nd Season. To be honest, I had considered the first season to be among the likes of Clannad in the making with the notion that the 2nd season of Kimi ni Todoke to act as the second coming to a vastly touching and warm Romance centered anime. I look at it now and I feel pretty silly that I even had the notion to compare this to Clannad, sure there were some points that hit home but I realise now that my initial impression was a really long shot I was miles off. The second season utterly shot down my expectations for progression and the depth that I was looking for, the narrative alone wasn't anything commendable and it was mostly a roundabout issue with lots and lots of smokescreen along the way.

Not much can be said about the Art and Music, as the style is mostly retained, and the score well kept with minor tweaks. Sure, the setting of the overall show remained the same but overtime it just feels routine and perhaps even boring. Being the audience, we seek something that pushes the narrative forward and thus generate a new direction for the overall characters to progress but there wasn't much to be seen.

The characters remained the same but at times the MC's in particular felt like they were regressing, and it felt kind of to witness the foundation done so well in the first season and then get pommeled into pieces like a joke. As we know, a narrative builds the characters that we care for. Without a good narrative it often leads to terrible casting and characters to be viewed in a very bad light. However, I am willing to turn a blind eye to some of the aspects due to the realism of the series in general. Misunderstandings do occur more easily then we expect and at times it can be tough to clear it up if the people in question are unaware of the issue. (The lack of self-awareness is the issue here.)

However, it also felt that an inferior complex does come into play here and I believe most individuals who have seen the show are not able to look past that because they just want things to go the way they see it... Not to throw shade at the author's intention but at times the drama does feel forced it just wasn't as good and genuine as the first installment. The romance was kept pretty mild, there were hints here and there but overall stagnant. The pacing sucked this season and felt like a regular SOL anime but this time with loads of drama. I would go far to say that the saving grace for this 2nd installment was perhaps the incorporated humour it has managed to retain throughout the series. I was really not satisfied with the sequel I mean it is good, compared to most titles out there but really such potential wasted. It feels rather unfortunate that this could've been something much more.

239 Kimi no Na wa.
The typical works of Makoto Shinkai, the Art is impeccable, music astounding with a storyline that pulls your heartstrings. It is hard not to enjoy a work of art.

Although confusing at first due to the shifting nature of the anime, it takes some time to actually adjust to the setting and get used to it. The anime challenges multiple concepts of life and although tilted to the supernatural side, it was very, very entertaining it was also interesting to see a 'small appearance' from Shinkai's former works.

Perhaps the stories could potentially be linked to one another in the near future? I would not be surprised actually, in fact I would want the works of to be linked with one another to generate a complete feel to it.

Kimi No Na Wa really challenged my concepts on multiple issues and gave me the chance to ponder on the fact of 'if given the chance to live a different kind of life, what would you do with it?' Although this anime may not be the best depiction on the above, but I believe that this is a scope that should be experimented on more. The anime industry could certainly use more interesting titles that are shifting from the norm. And this anime did it at a near perfect level. Although this anime was really enjoyable and a great watch, I just feel that something is missing. Hence, the 10 was not awarded.

240 Kimi no Suizou wo Tabetai
This is an anime that wastes no time to introduce the key characters in the show. Which is the correct approach given its limited air time. The story starts off pretty basic and average as it is a take on slice of life and the everyday routine. The only difference is that, we are exposed to the idea that one of the key characters has a limited amount of time left due to a sickness. As stated by the title, this is the focal point of the movie and it serves as the main source of drama around the narrative moving forward. Keep in mind that, this is all there is to it. There isn't anything else keeping the narrative going, like almost every other cliched anime out there everything happens by chance. A disinterested guy catches the attention of a very popular girl in class. This is fueled by the fact that she doesn't want her life to be treated differently because of her illness as such she latches onto the guy much to his chagrin given that he has always isolated himself. The increased attention from his peers out of jealously only seemed to fuel unnecessary drama on his end. But the girl spared no thought over it, almost seemingly concerned about herself and herself alone. I would have to say that the entire story is pretty linear and basic there isn't much content to discuss other than the average Slice of Life trope that we've already been so exposed to. The art and music is pretty good given that it is a movie. But they are nowhere near the Shinkai level of greatness to carry this show forward.

Needless to say, I didn't really enjoy this anime, I felt that they were just recycling ideas and utilising an overused trope to squeeze extra cash out of it. It would've made more sense to make this into a series where you would actually feel more attached to the characters through proper development and building but instead this one just felt like a one off overly rushed movie that barely made the cut. The characters in my opinion were not made to be liked, they just barely had any proper development, the girl having known that she will be dying just wants to be treated the same as everyone else (she just wants to be treated the same as when she was healthy) but does nothing to help her peers understand her situation attributing to the fact that if they knew the truth she would be given special treatment. I guess I could understand her point of view but it just seemed so silly, as her actions would eventually just inconvenience the person she is latching onto.

The guy on the other hand does nothing to help his case, instead he follows through with her requests maybe perhaps to fill the void that he created on his own. Or to help one person's last dying wish. Honestly, I couldn't be bothered because both characters were pretty boring.

I guess you could learn much from the point of view of the girl, that even when you're close to death's door you should try everything in your power to live life to the fullest. Or rather to treat everything as per normal as you are in fact still alive. But the show in itself is pretty boring there isn't much redeeming qualities regarding it. The pacing was okay, but honestly for a movie this should have been something more than that.

The drama felt forced and at some parts pretty ridiculous, the girl tends to do foolish things and when the guy reciprocates she gets scared. I mean, I guess we can say that they possess immature mentalities but it just wasn't suiting my tastes it just felt pretty silly on my end. The romance made some sense as both parties spent a lot of time together but it felt more of a circumstantial situation rather than a proper blossoming of love. It felt something out of necessity through their interactions. In all forms of actual life this would make lots of sense but, in an anime setting rarely people are looking for real life depictions and this adaption is a take on what could happen in reality just wasn't the recipe for success. Even when you know you are dying, the unexpected can happen we are so focused on what we think we know, that we forget our surroundings pose a different kind of danger as well. <<< This serves as the final nail in the coffin for the drama, it cements the entire series. The ending just felt pretty stupid but like I said, this was an attempt to make an anime as real as possible. I guess that is why it just wasn't enjoyable.

241 Kiznaiver
You'd think that an anime such as Kiznaiver that consists of superstar VA's to do exceptionally well. But for me it was an anime with a supposedly great potential but fell short due to its many shortcomings. It was tough giving this anime a score of 7 as it barely got there.

Lets start off, the anime begins with a rather pathetic main character that does not seem to care about whatever happens to him as he does not feel 'pain' this is better explained later as the anime progresses but because the story is executed so pathetically its hard to empathize with the main protagonist at all.

The story itself is interesting as it contains some sense of 'originality' through its unique story line based on emotions and shared connections. If there's a straightforward way to say why this anime wasn't as good as it should've been would be that the side characters clearly overshadow the main protagonist. With that being said the side characters are really what helped this anime progress at all.

The main selling point of this anime is the way we deal with emotions on how we empathize and sympathize with others. The rationale or I would like to call EQ is what differentiates how we behave around others and react towards different situations. The anime does a real roundabout way towards getting there and in a really nonsensical way that is utterly ludicrous.

The idea was nice, execution sucked bad. The music was okay, but the opening was stellar.

Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon, a very light hearted anime that focuses on comedy. Which is the main selling point that it pushes alongside its cutesy art forms and characters. The music and art were nice which which stays true to the theme of the title. Overall it was a decent watch but it was lacking actual depth and story otherwise it could actually be an impressive anime.

243 Koe no Katachi
In life, everyone wants to be normal the urge and feeling to fit in. I can't say that is in fact what most people want to achieve but a vast majority requires social acceptance from others.

We often fall victim under group think and peer pressure. In order to remain/maintain the status-quo we always tend to do things to fit our own personal needs.

Koe no Katachi tells a story of a deaf girl wanting to make friends and to fit in a school but was unfortunately bullied due to her disabilities. Yet despite that she is perseverant and continues to befriend her classmates and tries her damnedest to make peace with her biggest bully.

It is honestly heartbreaking to see the female protagonist give it her all just to be constantly bullied. In life there are many teachings that we should learn and from this show we are able to derive 'life goes on regardless of how tough it is' and 'what goes around comes around'.

Given that the show revolves around the two main protagonists, it does exude great character development from the Male MC and his desire for redemption.

When all is said and done, the amazing and perhaps most touching aspect of the show was that the Female MC decided to blame herself for everything that happens around her even though it isn't her fault.

The show excels in telling a story, the pacing is superb there wasn't a moment where I felt bored or uninterested. The music played well with the subsequent scenes with great succession and the Art was simply stellar.

In terms of depth this show was really able to give me plenty of things to ponder over and think about. To say that this show provided me with a wake-up call would be selling it short, 'very-short'.

For a show that didn't focus on romance but rather the core values of repentance and forgiveness it had really beautiful moments that made my heart melt over the characters and the story's progression.

This show was simply a masterpiece and definitely one that deserves its own category.

244 Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate
Well to start off, I wasn't really focused during my time spent watching this anime and as such I am not sure if I am giving it a fair rating. However, during my glances I was able to capture the essence of the anime.

That said, the story takes place in your typical slice of life setting. However, any decent slice of life anime needs to have good drama to push the plot forward. And this anime does it well through the usage of past mental trauma.

The start of the anime was interesting, it gives off the mysterious vibe that there is someone in the works of doing something shady. And this is revealed along the way as the story progresses.

Needless to say, Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate is an anime adapted from the Visual Novel which is where the parent story comes from. And it adapts the faithful or rather iconic main heroine route much to the dismay and chagrin of the wide audience. That being said, the story wasn't that bad and the music and art were good.

However, I was not able to enjoy the show much, if I had to point out it just lacked the captivating pull. It wasn't that the characters didn't stand out but rather the story itself although unique it lacked the factor to captivate its audience. However, I believe that what helped the narrative press forward would be the hidden meanings in between the characters as shown from their past trauma.

The narrative would have felt blatantly bland otherwise. The pacing of the anime was Ok, but nothing fantastic there were moments where you can feel that more should've happened but didn't. Perhaps there was a time constraint understanding that a full blown Visual Novel needs to be compressed to a measly 12 episode season.

The drama was good, but lacked the necessary progression to have any impact. And the Romance felt strange, there wasn't much going on to portray the feelings felt between the various parties as there also were not enough screen time if I am honest.

However, the comedy set in the anime were pretty good when they do occur. I can only assume that this is done way better in the visual novel.

That said, I believe that this anime deserves a good 7 but it isn't really anything outstandingly different from the many titles offered today. Perhaps if it had taken a more light-hearted approached it would've excelled better.

The drama lacked the necessary build up to have any impact and everything felt rushed from time to time. The main character was likeable but that was just it, there is nothing else worth noting which makes it rather bland as we're looking at the various characters in the show at face value and that is it.

Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!, wow this anime is really outstanding. To me at least, the approach of this anime is quite unique the aim is to be not cliche while being CLICHE. See the irony there? From that you can tell that this anime focuses heavily on humor and comedy. Which it really does in amazing fashion. There wasn't a moment in any of the episode where I didn't burst laughing. The main character is very very likeable.
This anime is basically a virtual game turned reality. I'd highly recommend this to anyone wanting a good laugh. Easily one of my favorite animes around. Can't wait for the OVA's and Season 2

Where do I even start, in life when you're gifted amazing things you just have to reach out and grab'em. Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! 2 is one of life's greatest treasures, and a shining gem within the Anime Industry as a standout comedic anime for its genre. To be honest given the premise of the entire series there really isn't much to grade this anime on. When you come and find something like Konosuba you're probably just looking forward to a good 20 minute laugh and that's it.

But when the writers decide to give more to the audience and up the ante for the show. That's when you know you've got something amazing on your hands. Konosuba's main selling point is its comedy, that much is obvious but lets not forget that it has an amazing narrative to drive the series through. It is just rare to have a narrative that fits a show so perfectly, because without the story there can be no progression and the comedy starts becoming dry. But this is not the case for Konosuba, when they clear something, they are always able to find something that is as ridiculous to get busy all over again. And Kadokawa doesn't disappoint, you can tell that they are really willing to provide the budget for this anime because the art is really amazing, the details from the environment up to the skills when you have an infamous Megumin Explosion you're always in for a treat. In terms of the music, the showrunners are able to understand the term 'if it ain't broke don't fix it.' Given that Season 1 utilised a cute form of music, Season 2 adopted the same concept to bring yet another round of cutesy music to complement the series and having the VA's perform the ED is always a nice touch to provide fan service for the audience and people who are obsessed with the VA's.

I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed Konosuba there isn't a moment which I find boring. This might be truly one of the rare animes that I could never get bored watching. It is still by far my favourite comedy anime and one that I'm sure I'll keep coming back to. I mean how can you resist the extremely lovable cast of Kazuma, Darkness, Megumin & Aqua voiced by such a stellar cast!

They're just so ridiculously lovable, in terms of depth I guess when one wishes to see something they're able to understand and discover the finer things in whatever they're doing. If I had to point out the main point from a show like Konosuba it would be to live life without regrets and to do things wholeheartedly without ever trying to lie to yourself. Although a carefree anime, this show carries a lot of depth when one tries to ponder about the motives and perspective of the characters but you'll have to minus away all the silly things they do and re-imagine them in a far different setting.

All in all, I mean Konosuba 2 is literally one of the best things out there in the Anime Industry. A Must watch and a clear 10/10 in my book.

Konosuba works because comedy is the main focus of the anime. Being in an Isekai, most titles tend to go into the more serious down to earth kind of style but Konosuba's take on it is something quite extraordinary. I had worries wondering if the usual 20-23 minutes comedy skits could make it on the big screen that lasts 80-90 minutes. Wondering if the content and material might feel superficial and lacking substance. But my fears were never realised. Instead I was smacked across the face for doubting the potential Konosuba had.

Don't get me wrong the elements within the title were it focused on being a serious isekai instead of a comical one I'm sure the results would be vastly different. But that is what makes the series so lovable. Konosuba has never been on that is heavy on its narrative its just episode after episode where something stupid happens and the group have to find hilarious ways to solve it.

Certainly with an vastly extended episode and a more specific area of focus the anime takes a more detailed route towards story telling but as you can see, it can only go so far without veering off from its intended goal of providing mindless humour to the audience.

The voice acting as usual is pretty top class, and the comical scenes are good. Although I had my doubts I was certainly proven wrong. A good watch and one that reinstates why Konosuba is so good.

After finishing the series, I'd like to have a rundown on what the series covered.

At the start we are introduced with a 'fully-pumped' protagonist that seeks to make a change within the environment because like any other anime cliches people tend to default to do what is convenient for themselves usually to suit their own purposes.

The show starts to spice up with the introduction of interesting characters and the possibility of creating hybrids. This leads to the development of
2 Main Character Archetypes

One who is supposedly smarter and has a plan which is usually provoked when others do not listen to him. (HOWEVER, anime cliches dictates that they must lookout for their comrades)

Another who is strong but is unable to tolerate people who are weak. (USUALLY, because this was a value that is enforced upon them at some stage in their lives)

Other than that, the show progressed from city to city, as the characters struggle to survive in this post-apocalyptic world.

The show starts off by stating how dangerous the Kabane's are but as it progresses it embodies the truth of real dangers be it in a fantasy setting or in real life. People with ill intentions have the capacity to deal more damage either through deception or through simple ruthlessness.

This is interesting, as it is different from misguidance as that results from poor judgement from the said person. However, the main key that hits home is simply the ability to think for oneself rather than relying on others which is what is often forgotten in the world today. If we are unable to think of ourselves then we have truly lost our purpose to live. When you rely on others to take the reins and to fight for you, then you are simply not worth saving.

The show goes through multiple values and interesting touchpoints that is worth discussing. However, there were a couple of flaws here and there which actually derailed (Pun intended) the hype surrounding the show.

The score by Hiroyuki Sawano as usual was perfect and fitting for Koutetsujou no Kabaneri, the art was decent but nothing too crazy. Despite all is said and done, I could actually care for the main character. The build and growth was actually decent.

Overall the anime was a pretty decent watch. However, it was a serious letdown that the ending ended the way that it did as it had the potential to become something interesting and rather fresh I would say.

257 Koutetsujou no Kabaneri Movie 3: Unato Kessen
The sequel to the infamous Koutetsujou no Kabaneri, like its parent story this one isn't any better other than the fact that it is a shorter version. That being said, it has smaller rooms for error and as such makes it a more endurable watch. But even so it is spread out into 3 separate parts, which begs the question as to why it was even made into a movie in the first place. It just felt like an additional add on story or a short add on to the narrative which barely added any substance to the parent story.

They basically plucked a character out of nowhere and built a story around it as to why a place is infested with the kabanes. But the story is salvaged by the amazing Art work and Music by Egoist and Sawano Hiroyuki.

It was enjoyable seeing the undead get killed and mindless action play out through the scenes but that was it, there wasn't anything much beyond that. And the characters didn't actually grow or develop at all they are just the same old same old pretty thoughtless and quite frankly naive and silly as they were in the premise story.

There is some depth in the show but it sucks too much for me to even want to discuss it, the pacing was alright but then again... It is following a movie format, there is limited air time and as such the show must go on!

Drama feels forced, and pretty weird. The basically created something out of nothing to generate tension among the characters to build up for heroic entrances and rescues. Pretty stupid and silly, they should've focused and centered around proper team building and character development. Not to mention, that they were discounting facts and achievements done by Ikkoma's group...

The voice acting is sub-par at best and the intensity is average for an anime of its kind. Like the first season, this isn't anything great to shout home about. This felt like another take on Psycho Pass's excuse to squeeze more money.

Throughout the entirety of the series, one thought kept circulating in my mind and that is wth am I even watching?

I mean it is not bad, but its overarching attempt to be unique in turn creates a very unappealing spin in Anime, sure it is unique but is it being done right or dare I say correctly?

There are some pretty interesting cases/stories in this anime but most of it was just straight out weird, creepy even. The music is rather catchy but um that's about it.

Most characters are relatable I suppose? But I would not say that they are likeable.

On the flip side, this anime is actually rather meaningful it takes a pretty unorthodox approach for sure but it has quite a lot of depth when you think about it. The pacing is done quite well too, and they do try to tie in past events or rather make things look as though they are in the same continuum.

I guess this deserves a 5.

The anime itself is average at best, there is some progression for the characters I think it was sufficient to build their characters but it is written in such a way that they are meant to be that bland. The main character is actually quite interesting and fun to watch but keeps getting pitted against stupid situations. Coupled with some ridiculous side characters here and there it really dragged the show down and pretty much ruined the series for me.

It would've easily been 7-8 if the characters and storyline were more interesting. As such genres are already dominated by so many famous titles around. There at least there needs to be something to help the anime standout.

This anime felt very average for me and although the art and music was good, it wasn't able to make this anime shine.

Scum's wish as the title suggests, nearly every single character in the series is a scum except for the guy that is willing to get cucked.

Starts off with how "I don't really get, that if you can't get what you want. You find a replacement and fantasize about it." In a way to deceive yourself.

People say that this is reality or real but come on if that is the world we are currently in, then I guess we're royally screwed. Romance is just that and the show itself shits on Romance, and any drama that tangles itself with is over complicated and outright ridiculous.

The story sucked, I couldn't relate at all to what they were going through because they put themselves into that situation. However, the art and music were pretty good alongside the Voice Acting but because the rest sucked so hard they're hardly enough to redeem this shit-stained work on the community. This is like School Days and White Album. You will always wonder why people create such works. Then it hits you because such people exist. There isn't much to take away from the show it just sucks and it is bad.

Don't waste your time, watching it unless you wanna let your libido do the thinking. Definitely a waste of time.

Well, Maoyuu Maou Yuusha is an anime that I feel the writers placed the emphasis on the wrong areas. With Action, Romance and Fantasy as their selling point. The anime itself barely satisfy its criteria. With minimal or barely any romance just a little tease here and there. Action I guess we can say there's about a few maybe 3 to 4 scenes. The show itself seem to focus more on humans and effects of merchanting and politics during war time. So I have to say this is an anime with great potential but lousy execution.

269 Mieruko-chan
A fairly interesting premise, though it wasn’t really explained how Miko came to be able to see ghosts and spirits (though it becomes quite obvious that she is able to see them but be unable to determine who are friendly or malevolent which kinda makes the series a little unsettling since everything’s portrayed in Miko’s POV. Story wise is pretty interesting but nothing unique or thought-provoking the concept of the series feels original but it isn’t anything special, art wise, there are some really creepy characters, alongside plenty of fan-service type of scenes with the leading casts drawn rather nicely. The music fits well with the overall theme of the anime.
I was actually trying to find a series to chill and relax to, the actual narrative of Mieruko-chan doesn’t really check that particular box HAHA, but I still enjoyed it somewhat which goes to show that the series is actually pretty captivating. Though I really have to question the comedy tag since it really wasn’t funny at all, at least not to me unless you consider nervous laughter comedy.
I really liked the characters in Mieruko Chan, the ones that mattered anyway. The malevolent spirits/ghosts does help to add suspense, intensity and flavour to the series but it feels like they exist purely for the shock factor so I can’t really classify them as characters unless of course…. We include the likes of Zen’s mother as a character since there’s an actual backstory about her.
The voice acting is amazing, and of course…. Amamiya Sora is literally a goddess :3
A solid 7 for me, though it might’ve been more interesting if the story had a particular angle or progression for Miko rather than just her acknowledging that they exist, this actually paves a solid path for Season 2 if it happens. If not perhaps it teases its audience enough to read the manga instead.

272 Mirai no Mirai
Mirai no Mirai, when I first heard about it coming into the theatres I was really hyped regarding the potential that it held with a title name that piques on potential time travel? It was quite something to anticipate, having great works like the girl who leapt through time I thought this was going to be something more impressive than that. Unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed.

To start off, the narrative was pretty bland, it is your typical household lifestyle with many weird quirk that fits in a typical household but then again the main selling point in the show centers around the children. Don't get me wrong the person that they're supposed to feature doesn't actually have much of an impact as the name suggests. It was a tease, a very high level troll. The story somehow centers around her but in actuality doesn't play a big role. t was more of how children cope with jealousy and this movie showcases what most children feel when they're growing up. Not a bad job but really, who wants to watch an anime to see a direct depiction of life.

The art and music is decent but severely underwhelming for a movie standard budget. Or perhaps the budget was low? :O

Needless to say the movie was meh to me so I didn't really enjoy it, as for the characters. There isn't much to go about since they're not that important the only one that matters was the kid and he is a very small kid... so you know where this is going.

The depth in this show is pretty deep going as far as to incite the phenomenon of small changes big differences in the grand scheme of things. The transition of growing and forgetting that at the end of the day we are only focused on ourselves and not enough about the people around us. It allows us to gain a clearer view of the things that matter and a reflection of who we are as a people.

The drama in the anime feels forced so, there isn't really much to go about just some random nonsense here and there.

Overall a pretty average anime and quite underwhelming. The depth though, is a whole other discussion.

275 Mononoke Hime
I'm starting to believe that nothing Studio Ghibli touches can be anything less than amazing.

This makes me wonder, what I've really been missing out on, by not binging their content, days on end but perhaps if I did, I wouldn't enjoy it as much.

Mononoke Hime as the name suggests may not be something pleasant when we do a direct translation (Princess of Yokai's or something along those lines, but when we really get into it, try to delve a little deeper into understanding what it means. Suddenly, the world that the film is set in expands, that paints such a lush and luxurious environment that one cannot help but be astounded by its grandeur.)

It could be just me, but because Studio Ghibli always has a supernatural or fantasy-like theme the narrative is never dull or boring. From the very beginning, conflict arises and it sets the tone for the film, within the first 10 minutes Mononoke Hime already possesses such a powerful attention grabber that it leaves its audience captivated, begging for more. Though on a more serious note, what makes the narrative compelling is, beyond its supernatural setting, it leaves hints of reality in between that leaves the audience questioning their own perspectives on what is truly right? What is truly wrong? Does it matter? A narrative is not successful just because it is entertaining, a narrative is only successful if it can translate entertainment into something meaningful and I believe Mononoke Hime has done a fantastic job portraying Human's and their interaction with Nature. Without giving too much away, I would suggest watching this through our own eyes, formulate your own perspective and then contemplate what is really happening within the film from the specific perspectives of the involved parties. Would you have done something similar or different? Why and why not?

Hayao Miyazaki and Joe Hisashi have basically been the gold standard within the Anime Industry for as long as I can remember, I have not yet stumbled across anything from them that is anything less than splendid. The quality of their work is simply stellar. Can you imagine what it takes for a duo to complement each other so well? An amazing story is one thing, but having the perfect music to set the theme, environment and create that imagination is something else entirely. When I think about it, it baffles me how such beautiful works of art can come to be, if this was the end product what did these amazing creators envisioned? Would it have been something much more spectacular? I guess, only time will tell.

Although I enjoyed Mononoke Hime a lot, there were still areas that I felt could've been improved. Being whimsical is good and all, but where do you draw the line between comic relief and actual annoyance? The carefree nature exuded by some of the characters really made me reflect on my own perception of the people around me, although this might not have been the best example I can come up with, I just wanted to say that the characters probably could've been fleshed out a little more there were many areas that left me baffled by their intentions and actions.

However, the depth from this film is simply extraordinary the main takeaway I got from Mononoke Hime is "Cause & Effect" what we do, will have implications for all of us, it could be present, or future it might even relate to the past. But when you look at the entire picture. Everything will come full circle in the end. Human intentions, whether out of goodwill, greed or perhaps an over-glorified sense of justice was it truly for the sake of others? Or perhaps it was just to attain one's self-fulfilment? There were many questions circulating my mind whilst watching the movie but the main theme "Cause & Effect" remained as the only constant that stayed true till the end of the film. I would like to discuss more, but I would be giving away too much for it to be a meaningful experience. But truly, understanding human nature is probably one of the hardest things in existence and something we have failed to grasp time and again. If we require a clean slate whenever the majority does something wrong, and rely on a select few to right the wrongs are we perhaps too far gone?

The pacing for Mononoke Hime made sense, there weren't any areas where I felt that it was too slow or fast in fact it felt seamless everything flowed really well. Although there were areas that could've been expanded upon to paint a more complete image, perhaps these were elements that were left open for the audience to interpret it the way they see fit. Funny, the voice acting didn't actually felt overly impressive but somehow they fitted the characters portrayed in such a manner that it would've started becoming weird if it was done in any different way. Each character voiced, had its own charm be it obnoxious, charismatic, endearing or simply intimidating. It made sense, understanding that voice acting in Japan is actually a specialised profession (getting into character is one of the most important aspects of the profession and every single voice actor here nailed it flawlessly.)

The intensity of the film was really good, even as the story progresses there will never be a moment where the audience is certain that everything will work out. And mind you, I've been pretty accurate with my predictions on the direction of the series/films that I watch, but for Mononoke Hime, I was left wondering what would happen next? Because I really couldn't figure out the direction the narrative towards. That got me really really invested in discovering and experiencing what might be coming next. There are not many titles out there that can really challenge your mind in the way that this film does, and this is excluding content that pursues being different for the sake of being different. This is the type of content that does not shy away from being different to depict, elaborate and show you what it truly means to understand what is really happening. From self-realisation, discovery, sacrifice and perhaps indignation, are specific elements that facilitated the necessary drama to create such a compelling narrative.

Yet another amazing work of art by Studio Ghibli, why am I not surprised? But don't take my word for it. Go ahead and listen to the music if you're still sceptical about giving this movie a try.

276 Monster
Monster, Monster, Monster (Watch as the monster inside me is growing!) To be honest, this anime had a lot of hype back then and up to this day. Rightfully so, it has got to be one of the better titles around the industry in general. Known for its uniqueness and general mysterious flair of psychology and humanity 'Monster' is a clear depiction of humans in real life. And this anime portrays a stellar adaptation that is comparable to what is generically believable to have happened.

The show itself starts off slow, and it is expected to continue within its own-pace-own-time field. That being said, having been allotted 74 episodes technically there is no rush and as such, you can expect for there to be coverage of extra scenes or rather pointless moments that may or may not add anything to the story in general.

The main points that hit home for me are how realistic this show is. The depiction of its characters is truly note-worthy and awe-inspiring. The statement of what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object comes into play here. The number of values, beliefs, philosophical teachings and the like can be derived from this anime alone. As such one can expect to have his/her mind exposed to a myriad of topics for intellectual discussion.

That being said, as a series holding 74 episodes, you can expect to have a plethora of characters introduced, a good thing to note is that most of them do carry over and bring value across the narrative. The musical usage within this series has been amazing simply based on the opening and ending songs. Not to mention the background music that helps to create an unsettling vibe whenever things are about to go down.

The main key that hits home is truly the depth that revolves within this anime which discusses many and I MEAN MANY noteworthy topics worth discussing on for further development. With the open-ended ending up for the viewer's interpretation is simply icing on the cake of this phenomenal anime. Despite an adaptation in its time, the art of the anime was still enjoyable and pretty. Personally, I felt that this anime was a masterpiece but dragged a little too long for my liking which is why I lowered the score.

In all due respect, this is an anime that is worthy of 10/10 a true masterpiece, however, personal bias is ever prevalent and I found myself to be rather bored at its slow progression. But man was the ending haunting. "Who is the real monster?"

I believe that will stay with me for a long time to come but hey I'm not complaining.

It wasn't just the feelings the characters are able to portray but the music itself and the art really blends well with the theme of the anime. 283 Nanatsu no Taizai: Imashime no Fukkatsu
As a manga reader, I am quite satisfied that the anime adapted a faithful copy of the original work with minor tweaks.

Nanatsu no Taizai Imashime no Fukkatsu, picks up where the initial 4 episodes teaser cum side stories left off. And begins working on the build up left from the first season.

With the story taking a more serious tone as stronger enemies appear, which therefore pushes the characters to undergo specific developments (cough-cough). The typical kind you would expect from the shounen genre, likewise from the first season the art and music is simply fantastic the musical score is what kept me really excited for most of the show alongside the new cast introduced along the season.

As an anime that is heavily packed with action, it is hard not to like it as the combat within the show is well drawn. The pacing was good, every episode covered at least something interesting whereas the intensity of the show kept me wanting for more. I strongly feel that had I not read the manga, I would potentially like the series even more.

Not a bad watch, but I preferred the manga, sure the anime adaptation has a stellar cast of VA's and powerful musical scores at its back but the original first look feel from reading the manga is probably unmatched.

285 Nanbaka
A very confusing title, it is supposedly a gag anime yet it tries to tie in action and emotional scenes which are not only a poor fit for the vibes but the general direction. I get that the author is trying to tie in some sort of narrative to keep it interesting but Nanbaka would've been so much better if it just focused on the comedy. Instead, it tried to be many things and failed at every one of it, there were some comedic scenes that were entertaining but they fell short. Really disappointing.

288 Natsume Yuujinchou
Natsume Yuujinchou, is an anime that was a refreshing change of pace from the massive amount of drama, and action based anime around. I really enjoyed the cute characters in this anime and the light comedy throughout the series. Story is pretty simple, yet compelling at the same time with every episode it makes me want to see what adventures Natsume is going to encounter next, every time he encounters an Ayakashi there's hidden meaning to it. Coupled with calm and relaxing music this is what sets it apart from other animes. It's pacing is alright, not too fast nor too short. This anime also got me into thinking, there are things that we can see and there are things that we cannot see. But occasionally there are somethings that appear before us even if its just a glance before disappearing. Now then was it really there, or was it just our imagination?

The sad thing here is the fact that the ending arrangement is nicer than the actual anime.

290 Netoge no Yome wa Onnanoko ja Nai to Omotta?
Cute romance? Check, Comedy ? Check, Virtual Gaming in anime? Check. With these in mind what's not to like? This is your typical romance anime with ecchi and the like however it is slightly different from most ecchi. The guy actually sticks to one girl and stay faithful till the end. The progression of the characters are what makes this anime so enjoyable. The music and art of the anime is amazing, the story for this anime is pretty average however the comedy makes up for it to make it interesting. Overall this is the kind of anime I would not mind watching end on end and even re-watching would be no problem.

292 No.6
No.6 is a pretty interesting anime set in a perfect society in the form of elitist mindset where problems are handled immediately. The story starts of nicely, but falls off terribly as it progresses. It just felt too rushed at times which causes the pacing and character development to suffer greatly. Apart from that the characters are pretty good, you can feel the emotions as they are portrayed. The show has many deep meanings, and the main character is basically the embodiment of innocence and his buddy is what you would call experience. The story itself has deep meanings and is rather interesting however the execution causes the anime to fall off drastically. Perhaps that's why it is necessary to read the novel, which is something I might consider. On average I felt that more could be done for the anime, interesting concept but they took the cliche or simple way out so as to not drag the series further which could imply many reasons either the authors were rushed to finished the work or they simply had no further ideas to progress it. In total the anime has good art, music and voice acting which makes it worth a watch if you can ignore the plot holes in the story.

293 Nobunaga-sensei no Osanazuma
Not the best type of ecchi out there but it is fine, for 7 minutes you get some interactions with the MC and a couple of cute girls.

No irritating characters so that is a major plus, comedy is light and the romance is kinda iffy.

6 is being fair I suppose since there isn't much to go on about.

295 Odd Taxi
Odd Taxi lives up to its namesake, its approach is rather unique which helps it to stand out from mainstream titles and genre, satisfying the genre of mystery rather well.
In terms of the story telling Odd Taxi has done a marvellous job of portraying a pretty cynical personality that would match most introverts around. That being said, he is also a very effective problem solver which makes him a highly dependable and desirable person. Which is one of the reasons why many people gravitate towards him, also in his line of work he has the ability to encounter people from multiple walks of life thus broadening his horizons. In a sense, a person that is able to look inside whilst staying outside of the frame, a nifty trick and one that most audiences would appreciate given that the genre is about solving a mystery.
The art-style is pretty good, having said that it mostly features animals at least until the very last episode. However, the appeal of the art is not based on how cute it is but rather how it removes the edgy vibes by having this particular art style. It is a very unique approach but it probably would’ve been taken a little more seriously had the art-style been altered. Nevertheless it does a good job portraying the characters in a no-nonsense format suitable to match its narrative.
The music is well adapted to suit the theme of the show, but perhaps the greatest feature of Odd Taxi is its wide array of characters and the narrative’s underlying depth. Odd Taxi does a fantastic job tying in characters within today’s society depicting them into a highly relatable environment for the audience to relate towards making a solid connection between the audience and characters. You might find them annoying or endearing but that really does show how well-written the characters are.
Although the voice acting isn’t particularly inspiring, the pacing and uniqueness remains sufficient to keep Odd Taxi a title that is worth watching. A solid 8, but perhaps to make it a little more meaningful I’ll end it with an additional sentence.
“Things seem to fall into place whenever you’re not bothered enough to try. Adversely, when you’re trying too hard the reverse would be your overall accomplishment.”

296 Ojisan to Marshmallow
Short anime that takes about 3.30 mins of your time per episode, story itself centers around marshmallows so its purely based on comedy. Characters are fun which makes the intended genres achieving its intended goals. The anime overall is satisfying and absolutely entertaining.

298 Okusama ga Seitokaichou!
A pretty good distraction that lasts several minutes per episode.

The romance is actually pretty cute, although it tends to verge towards "questionable territory." That being said, it isn't terrible, but there really isn't much going on.

300 One Punch Man
One Punch Man, maybe I was expecting a lot due to the popularity in this title. However while watching the series there wasn't much that really caught my attention. Apart from some cheesy comedy here and there and an overpowered main character it was a pretty mediocre anime. The anime and art however stood out for me and I really enjoyed it. Apart from that the story, and character progression were basically negligible in fact the series should've just focused on the Main Character as the sides were practically useless apart from building comedy.
