Synopsis

Forced to abandon their home planet of Cybertron due to the threat of the Blackhole, Optimus Prime prepares to lead his autobot warriors to Earth. Just as they are leaving they are confronted by Vector Prime who warns Optimus Prime of the threat to the galaxy if the four Cyber Planet Keys are not gathered in time. However, Megatron has plans of his own for the universe. As they embark on the search, they land on new planets which are inhabited by different Transformer races as well as the Convoys who lead these planets.

Background

The series was supposed to be the final installment of the Unicron Trilogy formed with the previous two series, Transformers Micron Densetsu and Transformers Superlink. However, the Japanese production did not follow through on this intent by Hasbro, scripting the series as an independent story unconnected to the preceding shows. The English dub partially modified the series to establish links back to the two series, including changes to dialogue.

This show was my favourite show growing up, I used to watch it all the time on CITV. I recently re-watched all of it and despite being by no means a masterpiece it is still a very enjoyable series with some intense battles and some memorable characters.

Story: This is the weakest suit of the show as the overarching narrative isn't hugely engaging for most of the show. However I can say this series does have a plot which is better than a lot of shows that being they have to collect all 4 cyber planet keys from all around the universe in order to save read more

Okay first of all this show is a perfect example of what a Transformes show should be like. I liked it so much, it is pretty much my favorite Transformers show now.

Characters are well written, especially Starscream. Human characters are thought well. This show makes you think: " Oh, so adding human characters to a Transformers show can actually be good. "
Plot is strong, interesting.
Power balance constantly shifts but villains have more power in 1v1 so watching main characters struggle and yet continue their adventure is quite enjoyable.
I liked Transformer designs a lot. Artstyle of human characters isn't bad either.
