Keroro Gunsou

Well before otaku-queen Konata Izumi's (LuckyStar) sitcom ever aired, there existed a little green alien named Keroro that came down to command and conquer this planet. How he will manage to pull this off even Keroro doesn't even know himself. This is where the viewer comes in. We're all there for the wild ride that is the Keroro Universe. This whole series is told in a sitcom format where almost every episode will end with little to no change to the story. If you don't know if this is a series for you just read the lyrics of the first opening credits:

"March on forward! Let's ... invade Earth! Whenever I take out an umbrella, it always stays sunny. Mind your step! Grit your eyes! I forgot to cook the rice for the curry! I caught my finger in the door as it closed, and when I got on the plane, it was going the wrong way! My soldiers took a vacation at Planet Kero. Ah, it's cheaper to just buy dinner!" There are 2 more verses but you get the idea.

It sounds completely random and off the wall with light intentions to invade the earth... ergo, its a PERFECT theme song for this anime. Sunrise (dev team) are masters of pure randomness. Best known for titles such as Gintama, Yakitate!!Japan, and Inuyasha (among many others), Keroro is one of the company's flagship titles and for a good reason. It's completely filled with win. From the character types to the stories they're involved in. This is first and foremost a children's anime, and it reminds of that at the end of every episode via morals you're supposed to learn. Although, most of them are just off the wall but make for a fun episode every time. How does it manage to do this? It makes fun of EVERYTHING. From Otaku culture, to athletics, to spending habits, even obscure anime titles aren't safe (Dunbine, LoGH, Tenku Sharato, and even MIDORI no HIBI!!). They don't stop there, politics, movies, and celebrities make a common occurrence. Anything and everything will happen to Keroro and his motley crew of subordinates and his Pekopon prisoners.

Like other sitcom titles like this (LuckyStar, Gintama, Family Guy) They are only entertaining as the characters that are in it. Man are these characters fun! There (Sgt) Keroro, the squad's commanding officer who's a little stupid and Gunpla Otaku, Tamama, very obedient and borderline psychopath, and Giroro, who is... well.. a male tsundere. There are over a dozen more characters each are equally entertaining as everyone else. But of course you can't help but choose a favorite out the bunch but that is the nature of Keroro.

The art production is nothing to write home about but if i had to compare it to something, it would have to be similar to Pokemon (Cute animals and leggy humanoids) which completely works for this anime.

You can tell after watching a few episodes if this is your cup of tea or not. As for me, I absolutely love it, its content is catered towards kids but its humor is very adult and refers to many things in popculture. If Lucky Star and Gintama would have a baby, Keroro would be the result. 8/10 (Very Good anime)

I started to become a fan of Sergeant Frong (aka Keroro Gunsou) when the manga first came out here in the US. At first I though this was gonna be some manga I wouldn't like but eventually I fell in love with the crazy antics of the Alien space Frog, Keroro. I began to watch the episodes on Youtube and they were just as I expected to be. Though the show seems kiddy like, they have alot of adult themes. It also has sketches within the anime of scenes of many famous Japanese movies and Animes (Gundam the most).

The story begins with Fuyki and ... Natsumi Hinata find a strange Frog like alien hidding in there home. The siblings capture the alien and scare off the alien invasion leaving behind Keroro, the alien, and his teammates behind. After that, Natsumi puts the little guy to work. Cleaning the house, washing dishes, and so forth. Soon he becomes part of the family, but still plans on taking over the world (which his alien race calls Pokopen).

Keroro soon meets up with all his crazy but interesting friends. Private Tamama, is Keroro's left hand man, always following his orders but has a strange affection for him.Tamam also has a split personallity so better not get on his bad side. Corporal Giroro is a Gun crazy loonatic, which has a crush on Natsumi, also he tries to keep Keroro in line. First Sergeant Kululu is one of Keroro's most dangerous friends. Kululu invents and creates deadly weapons made for the sole task of invading earth. Then there is Corporal Doror (aka Zeroro) which is sometimes ignored by the other group members and has dedicated his life to protecting earth. Then there is Keroro's beloved nephew Moa-Chan, the young woman who is destined to destroy earth but holds back just for her beloved uncle.

Keroro and his friends go on several adventures, and make many attempts to invade earth. They always fail or some how they make things better for humans. But as long as there Gundam models around Keroro's plans to invade earth will be very long indeed.

The story is kinda half assed but it's a good anime none the less. It has many colorful characters and episodes that will make you want to see what crazy antics will he do next. Keroro is not anime you should pass up, since he's become one of Japan's newest anime idle (Next to Gundam that is). So check it out, I'm pretty sure you'll have a laugh or two.

This my friends is the only Mecha Anime that counts.The Laughs, the feels, the action, it truly has it all. It has guided me on theway to be a better man, and to this day I still follow the way of the frog diligently. More than an anime you'll be looking at the very essence of life. Keroro Gunsou is more worthy of an oscar than Leonardo F* Dicaprio. Truly a work of art. I am NOT kidding, this is ART in its purest form, the Joconde ? pff, ridiculous... Watch it, and next time someone at a fancy art gallerie asks you 'so, what's ... your favorite piece of art ?" with their ridicuous snobby accent you'll look at them straight in the eyes and as tears roll down your cheeks you'll simply say "Keroro Gunsou". And thus I shall bless it with a perfect score of 5/7.

Keroro Gunsou is one of those Anime-series you would think is meant for a very young audience due to the art style. "Looks like Pokemon" is something I heard several times when watching the show. And while it is aimed at a family audience in Japan, it's still pretty raunchy. There's a good reason for the PG-13 rating here on MAL. Why? Because this Anime is filled with surprises for the more mature fans: Parodies of 70-90s Anime, rather frequent swimsuit episodes with partial nudity, some Engrish swearing and the occasional episode going as emotional as it possibly can on daytime TV.

The show surrounds a ... group of five alien frogs named "The Keroro Platoon". Their job is simply to invade the earth (Pekopon) and use all the humans as slaves. With over 300 episodes with the same premise, the show may seem a bit boring when you figure out they'll always fail. What makes up for it is great writing and the perfectly timed parodies and references they manage to sneak into every single episode: Lupin, Evangelion, Midori no Hibi, Suzumiya Haruhi, Death Note, Shugo Chara and Tokimeki Memorial are just a few of the shows they pay homages to or ridicule. With everything from slapstick comedy to strong innuendo (one of the frogs rubs a balloon up and down while thinking about his crush), this show has something for everyone to love.

Most of the episodes are short, so even if you absolutely hate some of them, they will be over soon. Like modern American cartoons, most lasts about 12 minutes, and they usually bundle two shorter episodes into a 22 minute long episode every week. There is also the occasional double-length episode lasting for 24 minutes, which proves to be more dramatic/serious than the shorter ones. There's also a few arcs, spanning 3-4 episodes.

Art:

The drawings are simple, but the art-style of this Anime is excellent and really fits the gag-comedy genre. The animation is very expressive and fluid, and you hardly see the characters standing completely still with only their mouth moving. The backgrounds suits the Anime as well, but I should mention that the staff tends to recycle them a lot. The infamous frame of the Hinata family's house at the start of nearly every episode is forever etched on my mind.

Sound:

I have yet to see the dub, so this is based on the sub. All the seiyuus has a distinct voice that fits the character they play extremely well and you'll most likely be able to recognize which character is speaking just based on the audio alone after a few episodes. The BGM is okay, but recycled all the time just like the backgrounds. There's a few new tracks each season (One season lasts for 52 episodes or more), so expect to hear the same tracks a lot.

The openings & endings fits the show on the dot. Pretty much every music genre is featured throughout these OPs/EDs and the lyrics are for the most part extremely clever (in terms of comedy), so you are bound to hum to them eventually.

Characters

Every character has a distinct and unique personality, and with such a huge cast it's almost incredible how Mine Yoshizaki managed to make all of them memorable! Some are temperamental, some are cute and others are pure craziness. A summary of the main characters:

- Keroro = A sergant who sees the value in slacking off more than everyone else, and has a huge passion for Gundam plastic models.
- Giroro = Weapon-phile with a fetish for violent women. (E.g. Natsumi)
- Tamama = Cute and innocent... until he snaps! Usually happens when someone interacts with his crush, Keroro. He's frequently using bad language in this mode, like s**t and b**ch. (Funimation subtitles)
- Kururu = An incredibly smart inventor, but an extremely creepy one as well. One of his main jokes is about how he has cameras installed everywhere, even in showers. He's also trying to ship himself with Giroro for some reason.
- Dororo = A lonesome ninja that is often forgotten by the other frogs. Him getting depressed about it is a running gag.

We also have the incest-girl who wants to marry her uncle (Moa/Mois), the typical violent tsundere girl (Natsumi), a big-breasted mother designed purely for fanservice reasons (Aki) and the kind hearted, but occult-crazed lad (Fuyuki)


Enjoyment

I would say a 10 at first, but after 250 episodes, it starts to get a bit stale. I love the main episodes, but at the same time, you do want them to succeed in taking over the earth as well. There's a lot of less amusing spin-off episodes too. Some of the most frequent ones are "Musha Kero" (Keroro in the Samurai age), "Baby Keroro" (The platoon as babies) and the "Keroro Kamen Rider" (The platoon as superheroes). Not to mention that there are quite a few clip-show episodes as well, basically showing you clips from earlier episodes.

The jokes are sometimes ruined by the narrator as well. Because this is (supposedly) a family friendly show, every time a character does something that would hurt/jail/kill someone if done in real-life, which happens in most episodes, they have the narrator explain that you shouldn't imitate this.

Overall

It's a very enjoyable, but risky show that's a perfect example of what Japanese TV can do and still aim it at a younger audience. The humor is PG for the most part, with the occasional fanservice filled PG-13 episode a few times per season. The violence in the show is usually bloodless (not counting nosebleed), but the language can get pretty strong at times. Not to mention that the narrator keeps making disturbing comments about 13-year olds in swimsuits in almost every swimsuit episode, which comes off as pretty creepy.

I would heavily recommend this to fans of comedy/gag anime. If you still find this too "kiddy", jump over to the manga. The Anime is a heavily censored version of that, and you'll be surprised at how mature the jokes can get there.

When I am watching Keroro and his antics to try and invade Pekopon, a.k.a Earth, I get many mixed emotions. I am usually laughing really hard, then I am like "Huh? What just happened?". And some episodes make me cry, but that is very few. For some reason, I like my shows to give me mixed emotions because I like to be kept entertained throughout the show, and Keroro gives me that. I also love the music. The music is very bubbly and happy. It makes you want to get up and dance. The art is not like your traditional Japanese art, but it is ... still animated very well. The characters are introduced to their personalities right from when they enter into the show. You are not confused of their personalities, spending half your viewing time trying to figure the personality. So overall, Keroro is a MUST if you need a mood boost, or just want some comedy.

What in space can I possibly say about Keroro Gunso?

I'll start by saying that there's not one character that I dislike in this whole series. Even ones I didn't warm to at first eventually have episodes that make me not just like, but adore them. And boy, does this show have a huge cast of main, secondary, and minute characters, all of whom are bursting with charm.
When I finished episode 358 -- yes, I watched every single one, my longest anime to date! -- my upper lip wobbled and my eyes genuinely filled with tears. Keroro Gunso is like watching a ... family grow all together, a flourishing friend group who all love and understand each other despite their many differences. And even though there's many situations that go unresolved in this show, like various unrequited romances and the like, it's one of those things I'll happy ponder on for as long as Keroro Gunso is at the forefront of my mind.

I don't think this is an anime about a group of frogs who try to invade planet Earth, as much as this show wants us to believe. I really do think at the heart, this show is about friendship. And I know that sounds cheesy, but I think this goofy little comedy about frogs and middle schoolers really does have a lot to say about how when it all comes down to it, we should focus more on the appreciation and love for one another that we have, rather than focusing on the negatives, or the details about someone that you don't like.

Every character in this show -- even the semi-one-note characters like Kogoro and Lavie -- have so much heart that they're impossible not to love. And when you put them all together, you get so many interactions that warm your heart, and make you laugh and cry. Even though pretty much everything has a comedic slant, you still feel so much for them. The story arcs that this anime takes you through may be simple, but they are incredibly engaging. Even after 358 episodes, I still felt like I could follow Gunso and the others all over Pekopon for 300 more. Heck, I miss them just writing this review.

I recommend this anime if you'd just like some simple joy in your day. Something funny, something sweet, something light-hearted, to take your mind off of things. Sometimes a little bit chaotic and (lovingly) obnoxious, but enough to make you smile! I loved it so much, I can't believe it's over. Truly a gem of the early 2000s.

Overall: 10/10
Usually I would base my overall rating off of the mean score of each aspect provided, but I love this anime way too much to give it anything lower than a 10. This was the first anime I ever watched as a kid, and it's the only anime that still makes me laugh out loud every time I watch it. Definitely the funniest anime I've ever seen without exaggeration. It's definitely not for everyone, ... but in my opinion there'll never be anything as perfect as Sgt. Frog lol

Story: 5/10
The story sort of gets lost throughout the series. I mean, half of this anime is composed of filler episodes, but the main storyline is just fine. Frog looking aliens come to Earth in an attempt to conquer humans and it turns out they're very unintimidating and terrible at conquering. It's hilarious, but basic at best. Anyways, it's been years since I've watched hundreds of the episodes, so take my word with a grain of salt.

Art: 6/10
The art's really standard. The thing that makes me set it above mediocre is just the character designs for the frogs. They're such funny, iconic designs. The actual human characters are also really cute too. Other than that, there's nothing really remarkable about the art for this anime.

Sound: 10/10
I LOVE THE OPENINGS AND ENDINGS FOR THIS ANIME. I won't even lie, they're in my playlist unironically. Every song for this anime is an absolute banger. Besides the music, the English dub voice actors are really amazing. They are seriously hilarious. Every single joke lands. My favorite is definitely the narrator though, he really just ties everything together.

Character: 7/10
A lot of the characters are stereotypical or strangely written, but I don't think there's a single bad character. They're all hilarious and likable even if they're rude or mean. The dynamic between Kerero and the Hinata family is super funny, and the dynamic between Kerero and the ARMPIT Platoon is even funnier. There's not much I don't like about these characters, they're just nothing amazing.

My love for this show knows no bounds. I will always enjoy rewatching it no matter how old I am. I don't think a lot of people would like this show, especially if you take anime sort of seriously since this anime is anything but, but for me this anime is just perfect in all the right ways.

"What are you talking about? I'm just a slightly overgrown and slightly mischievous normal frog. I've never even thought about invading Pekopon."

I normally don't watch anime that go on for several seasons. Rarely will I consider watching an anime that has gone over 51 episodes. Which is why I never got into Bleach, One Piece, or Naruto. Then I saw Sgt. Frog. The show has been on since 2004 and recently ended this year. I watched the Funimation dub. After watching the dubbed seasons, I can say one thing...Sgt Frog is the funniest dubbed anime of all time.

There are many animes that many people consider ... the funniest. Golden Boy, OHSHC, Kenichi, Lucky Star, Hetalia, Fumoffu, the list goes on and on. However, a lot of times these animes have all been on top 10 funny list and rarely do I see Sgt. Frog on the list. Well let me tell you the reason that I love Sgt. Frog so much.

Now a lot of anime watchers prefer sub to dub. I, however, love anime dubs, not because I find them better but just the fact that they are more dramatic and over the top in the voice acting, not to mention, the same voice actors appear every time.

The dub for Sgt. Frog is hilarious in that it's the humor that I like...slapstick screwball humor. What do I mean by that? Every episode thrives on references to American pop culture, breaking of the fourth wall, physical humor, and overall celebration of being a geek like the sarge. It's like the anime version of a Mel Brooks film, my favorite comedies.

I love Sgt. Frog and I hear that Funimation licensed more episodes, and I will be watching. So if you like outrageous screwball comedy like me and like dubbed anime, then I highly recommend Sgt. Frog. Now if you'll excuse me, I going to get the new Gundam Models on sale.

The story is rather odd and yet, still rather funny. The show goes by a comedy of the week thing but if you dig down, it really does have an underlineing story that keeps the show together. A bunch of frog aliens trying to take over the world turned out to make it a really fun show. There are a lot of parodies, most of them I didn’t really get since they were Japanese and even turning it to the English Dub, some were a little to old for me I think.

The characters are really cute and even if they are stereotypical, they keep ... the story going well. The gags can be a little repeditive but don’t really lose my intrest. They do change it around to try to give us a fresh take on the story and comedy. The show doesn’t relie on fan service, making most of those times rather slight and you don’t normally see it unless they point it out to you. Sometimes, they even break the 4th wall, talking to the narrator which makes the show funnier sometimes.

The Animation is really nicely done, crisp and clean, even if some of the images go into runny egg art style. It doesn’t have much detail but I think it works well for the comical part of this show. I don’t understand why they made the ending have CG in it and really bad CG too.

There voices are really strange, though I don’t have any real problems with them at all. None of them made me want to bleed at the ears. The only one that felt strange was Momoka. I really don’t care for her crazy voice. The music is really good for the opening and closing. The opening is a rather catchy theme called Ribbit March, and feels just like a march making me want to get up. The endings is a little strange and not sure why they talk about afros in one of them.

Sgt. Frog, or Keroro Gunsou (which just means Sergeant Frog in Japanese) is a manga created and still in production by Mine Yoshizaki. An anime adaptation by Sunrise began in 2004, and is still on the air. This series eventually found its way in many other places in the world, and came out in North America . . . in 2009. Well, better late than never. This review only concerns the Funimation dub of the first 51 episodes. In short, Sgt. Frog is hilarious.

Story: A race of alien frogs have been tasked to conquer Earth . . . but somehow find themselves taking up shop ... in a Japanese household doing chores for allowance money instead. It's basically kind of like Pinky and the Brain; Keroro, the leader of the squad, hatches a scheme to conquer the world, but somehow, it fails by the end of the episode. This is an episodic series, in that while there is continuity, there are no long story arcs; it's just alien frogs and eccentric humans interacting. Really, it feels more like a Warner Bros. cartoon than a Japanese cartoon; not that I'm complaining, since I love Warner Bros. cartoons.

Funimation, when dubbing this, went the same route they did when dubbing Shin-chan; as in they rewrote some of the jokes to make more sense to an American audience. In this form, Sgt. Frog has jokes about American culture, Japanese culture, and even jokes that would only make sense to anime fans from the English-speaking world. I think most of it is clever and well-written. The only downside? Some episodes are better than others. 8/10.

Artwork: Nothing too grand. This obviously isn't a huge budget epic. It's a family friendly comedy series. With that said, it's not bad looking. It's bright and colorful, and there aren't too many animation shortcuts. It does what it needs to. 7/10.

Sound: The background music outside of the OP and ED songs is again nothing grand. The OP and ED songs, on the other hand, are pretty catchy. I don't have much else to say here.

The voice-acting by Funimation is top-notch. Not only does every character appropriate, but they also are well-acted. Keroro sounds better in English than in Japanese, and Chris Sabat is perfect as Giroro, although I do think Dororo and Kululu sound better in Japanese, but that's just me being nit-picky. Overall, it's a fantastic dub, and certainly one of Funimation's better efforts. 8/10.

Characterization: There's a lot of named characters in Sgt. Frog, but most of them are eccentric fun. Keroro is a lazy and selfish Gundam otaku, Tamama is a sycophantic yet obsessive private, Giroro is a violent, serious-minded soldier of war, Kululu is a freak, and Dororo is a nature lover that gets screwed over constantly, and so forth. I guess the only knock I have here is that because the series is episodic, most of the characters don't really develop over time. Other than that, they're great, especially Giroro. 9/10.

Enjoyment: Again, some episodes were better than others, but this is easily one of the funniest anime series I've ever seen. There were countless moments when I had to rewind the video just to catch jokes I missed the first time because I was laughing too much. I even found myself quoting the characters in real life just for fun. This is a series I can come back to. 9/10.

Conclusion: Why is this not airing on tv? It's only rated PG, it's incredibly fun and funny, and even charming at times. (imitates Keroro) THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! PEKOPONIANS THE WORLD OVER MUST LEARN OF THE BODACIOUS AWESOMENESS THAT IS ME! (back to normal voice) You see what I mean by quoting the characters? Yes, the show will grow on you if you give it a chance. 9/10.

the first time i watched this I thought it would be a stupid kiddy anime that would bore me out of the first episode, man was I wrong. Keroro is so stupidly funny, it had me laughing all the way through. the antics of the alien frogs, and the laziness of keroro had me on the floor.
I recently saw the it had been dubbed so I decided to re watch it in English, I was surprised at how well it was done. it also gives American fans who don't get the old anime references new American TV and movie ones,
The music isnt really my ... taste, but the afro song is good for at least one watch and laugh.
The art is cartoonish, but it fits the feel of the anime, still to this day I laugh whenever I see Keroro walking around with that blank stare on his face. Some people will be turned off by the childish portayal of the anime but it is so funny that most people who give it a shot will enjoy it

This show was not the first I watched in sub, but it was the first where I didn't have the mute button on it.
Back when I was 13, I thought all anime was bad( From a bad childhood exerience -_-) and was slowly getting use to it. I finally watched the whole series of Cardcaptors Sub while it was muted. But I then went on Wikipedia and Found a article to Kerero Gunsou. So I thought why not, and dived right in...and found everything to be great!
The almost simple plot-invaders come to conquer earth but screw up-is something you might expect from a bad child's ... movie from the 90's, but this is quickly overcome by the fact that Sgt.Kerero is a Anime/Gunpla(sorry if not correct term)/Manga Otaku in heart. Quickly, we meet the fellow Kerero platoon, which my Favorite is Tamama; A cute as can be member who if angered, will blast you away into another dimenson.
The Characters all are easily likable and you can relate to each of them. From the Overbearing but motherly Natsumi, to the evil and yet never lying Kururu; from the Loyal yet always overlooked Dororo, to the friendly and clueless fuyuki. I love every one of them ^^
The Music is pretty good, but in this Show's essence is for Kids, and it took me a little while for me to stop holding the mute button on the intro and ending songs, but when I did I shall never stop humming along.
However, the biggest problem/Ace in the hole is that the show frequantly makes refrences to anime and manga's that only good old anime fans will get. But However I would like to point out that it making refrence's to old anime is what makes it a almost secret love of fans:that people won't go and screw with it like SOME series I could name!
Finding the Series again after 2 years awakens a special place in my heart for the Keroro Platoon; I am now ready to watch more of the antics on Veoh ^^ If you like cute,Funny,and Smart, you will LOVE this series

Probably one of the most underappreciated animes watched so far. A mix of cartoon and anime at the same time. Literally something what a child like me in my old days that he/she watched.

there are some epsiodes are good and are bad. Artstyle is hard to rate because in the old years the artstyle was very funky and simpistic and as late 2010, it looks very normal and became on-par to other animes, but as far as it goes its really decent because when I look at them more closely they improved as years passby, and I’m proud they really make the anime very ... modern as it is even in an early year of 2010. Similar to their own improvement is “Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy”, which improves animation and quality even Dragon Ball which is another example. Sometimes, there are some that lacks essence mostly the supporting Characters like Garuru and Toruru, but overall they still perform well with VA and animation actions, even if they did less credit in some episodes. I’d give credit for being comedic since this is also a comedic anime to watch.

Enjoyment is really hard to rate as well. THere are times people stopped watching let’s say at the 200th, 19th or at the 37th episode as the next ones where just boring for them, while there are some who completed everything and may give a total result to this. If I would be seeing this experience myself, I’d see this being ok, literally a long way journey to the end of the anime and pretty much want to cherish memories and the laughs you have made to this show, leaving nothing but great moments.

Overall, this is a fine anime to watch, probably one of the longest animes, along with the other 6 movies and shorts. I hope this anime gets more recognition because this is something what japan needs to do when bringing in the throwback animes.

Sgt. Frog is an extremely hilarious anime, that has tons of really fun characters, plenty of different types of humor and jokes, and some surprisingly effective emotion. The only problem I had with the show, which is why I am currently taking a break from the series, it can feel repetitive from time to time, and given its extreme length it is practically a test of endurance. ... That might sound like a major flaw, but I really enjoyed the show through all the episodes I watched.
This show is not for anybody looking for a comedy series with a good over arching plot. If don't mind shows that are episodic and looking for a really fun and whacky comedy, than Sgt. Frog might be right up your alley.
Another side note: the Dub is pretty divisive from what I can tell as a lot of joke are changed, removed, and added. Personally, I enjoyed both the Dub and the Sub. I recommend watching the first few episodes in both the Dub and Sub and seeing which version you like better.

This is simply the best anime in the whole world. The idea, the comedy, the characters... All is so unique an incredibly funny! It has been my favourite anime since childhood and I strongly recommend it to everyone. Each of Keroro Platoon’s members are so special in their own way, but my favourite overall, of this anime and all the others is TAMAMA, because he is so double-faced. He is not bipolar or anything, he is only a very bad person (frog?) who tries to be popular so he tries to act cute, but his evilness is too big he can’t hide it.

So what if this anime is for children i realy liked it.

Story is nicly done and it realy shines in my eyes :) Nice plot.

Art looks good for an 2004 anime and i dont realy have anything to say anymore.

Sound,well voices are realy good and the music is also making me smile and feel good.

Characters,well Keroro and the other crew members are evil in theyr own way but they are realy funny and special in theyr own way so thats what i realy like about that.

Enjoinment,I realy enjoined this anime even if i watched it like 2 years ago i still didnt forget how ... this anime makes me feel good and makes me laugh.

Overall i realy liked it,has an good plot has nice comedy scenes and references,nice art it made me feell realy good watching those 185 episodes out of like 358 ep. and cant wait for Keroro in this year (2014).

I recomend to every one acept those who like more the horor tipe (but there are some episodes with horor in it)

The nature of Sergeant Frog can be very deceiving with its simplistic, child-like animation style. This series is hilarious, clever, and vastly underrated. Although one would think this show was intended exclusively for a very young audience, it is suitable for people of all ages. It is a shame that this title languished so long under ADV before being passed to and poorly marketed under Funimation. If it were marketed better in the United States, I could see it being a mainstay on Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network’s Toonami.

Each episode of Sergeant Frog plays out like a sitcom, deriving its comedy from a combination of ... smart wordplay, highly expressive physical humor, breaking of the fourth wall, and many pop culture references (but not in an arbitrary, unoriginal way like Family Guy. Bleh.). Anime lovers will enjoy the many instances when our favorite alien invaders parody other titles such as Gundam, Kamen Rider, Space Battleship Yamato, Dragon Ball, and Neon Genesis Evangelion. Sergeant Frog is much more detailed and direct in its Gundam references, since Bandai does hold rights to the Gundam franchise. However, even with the presence of the occasional otakucentric homage, one doesn’t have to be an otaku to “get” it.

The personalities of the invading Keronian A.R.M.P.I.T. platoon hit just the right mark. Sergeant Kerero is amusing with his screwball antics, ADD behavior, and Gunpla obsession. Giroro, the serious soldier of the platoon, has an aggressive, militaristic style that plays great for laughs. Tamama is cute, but is also jealous and obsessed. The cold, calculating nature of Kururu is delightful–he can be so perverse and sadistic. Lastly, Dororo is a ninja with a calm nature, who is often at odds with the goals of his friends. There are many other characters that are introduced who complement and interact with our protagonists very well.

The music in this series is very fitting. Unlike other shows of a similar genre, the music has a modest presence and takes a backseat to the action itself. The opening and closing songs are a mixed bag of randomness that change as the series goes on. The first opening, “Ribbit March” is a whimsical, enthusiastic propaganda inspired military march that will be stuck in your head for days. The first closing theme song “Afro Gunso” is a funktastical disco number with dancing CG frogs.

Finally, for those who may not be fond of dubs, Sergeant Frog may be an exception. Funimation did a great job in the English dub. Given the nature of this show, a rewrite of the script was necessary in order to make it relevant to American viewers. (note: this is not to be confused with the English dub made by Animax for Asian markets.)

In conclusion: Sergeant Frog is a great watch for just about anybody. My baby-boomer relatives, who have never watched anime before, enjoy it. Whether an anime newbie or hard-core otaku, old or young, I am adamant that this series is at least worth a watch. It is exceptionally rare to have a show more effective in its humor or more consistent in belly laughs. Sergeant Frog, although a long-running series, manages to stay fresh. It is a shame this show will likely never make it to a wider viewership.

I love this show! It's so funny. I just wish they'd make more episodes in English. Don't get me wrong, I've seen/read my fair share of subs., but I've got kids now and at the end of the day, I'm to brain dead to have to read and watch an anime...thank got for Netflix and hulu. Netflix used to have the first 3 seasons, then they got rid of the first 2, now it's no longer on instant que. Hulu has it in sub, and the first couple episodes in dub.
