This review will be as unbiased as possible; it will be purely factual.

If I had a nickel for every isekai that has come out in recent times that has been slow and generic, I would have a lot of dimes.

The healing premise, while slightly intriguing, does not make it stand out in the saturated market of the isekai genre. The characters themselves, like the MC and the side characters, are enjoyable to watch, but they do not give high hopes that the healing power will be able to carry the rest of the season. The healing power seems to be just a way to differentiate ... the series from others, rather than something that will be utilized throughout the series.

Overall, first impressions do not give me hope it will be another great surprise interesting isekai like "Campfire Cooking in Another World." I am open-minded nonetheless.

I do hope whoever this series entertains will enjoy it to the fullest.

The setup is very nonsensical.

You have these 3 students walking home. The girl starts talking some philosophical bullsht about not feeling like she belongs in this world. Then they are transported to another world. And these regular students are labelled heroes.

The girl is way too into this and i wish she'd tone it down. She just makes me roll my eyes with her exaggerated enthusiasm.
Its one of those anime that constantly uses exaggerated everything. Funny faces and exaggerated gestures and expressions have become the lowest and laziest forms of comedy in anime.

The main character is also always narrating in his head whats happening. And ... i wish it would shut up.
Needs more showing, less telling.

As for their powers; the girl has an affinity for lightning, the other guy for light magic, and the main character has an affinity for healing magic.

Something i will give this anime credit for is using magic as a steroid.
Remember the way you build muscles in real life depends on how fast your muscles heal after they get damaged during hard physical activity. Now imagine how strong you could become if you could instantly heal yourself after a workout. You'd gain muscles 10 times faster. Its kinda like Wolverine, except this character is super lame.
Ironically this is the right way to use healing magic.


What i dont get about this anime is why they had to be teleported from a different world to this new world. Instead of just being part of that world from the start. Its an unnecessary layer and doesnt add much to the plot.
And at the back of your head you're wondering how their families must be reacting to them going missing. There are probably police searches. People might think they have been murdered and chopped up.


The plot also drags on alot with characters going "oooooooh" and "oh" and "ah".
Another example of how the plot drags on is the fact that the main character gets stranded in a location in a previous episode...and then in another episode gets stranded again in that same location but under a different circumstance. Its a constant waste of the viewers time.

Not a bad anime. I just wish the characters would shut up and get to the point.

An excellent anime with a lot of add-on problems which are annoying.

Firstly, this anime is qualitatively very good, and is an 8/10 in my opinion. But that doesn't detract from the many issues that keep this anime from being a masterpiece.

These issues would roughly come down to three problems; 1-Characters, 2-Pacing, 3-The Ending.

1. Characters:
The characters are really well done when they are on-screen, the problem arises when you actually see the amount of characters that are main characters that maybe get 40 minutes combined for all MCs that are not Rose and Usato for the entire season. This is probably an issue of this anime ... only being 13 episodes long, and not 24–26 episodes long.
This is probably one of the most annoying issues with the anime, because Usato over the span of the season becomes way less interesting as a character, while every character shown on screen besides him has a much more interesting personality, for the most part. This isn't a very big issue, as this anime is probably meant to have a second season to expand the characters and locations, but this does become very much a problem for pacing (get back to it later).
Next would be the characters that cause some issues with the plot, or are somewhat annoying or useless & are used almost entirely as a plot device; The biggest offender of that is Blurin, it isn't the fact that he is not a decent character, actually they are good at points, the problem with him is that he is an overused "comic character", meaning he interjects with many scenes when plot happens. This isn't a bad thing for a good deal of anime, but when a character like this is overused and gets repetitive because their entire purpose is to interject themselves into scenes to stop conversations that extend the plot, it really makes a good character become annoying, plus makes them disposable for comic relief, which is what Blurin becomes, he only interjects in serious scenes to draw away from the plot, which is really repetitive and upsetting. Another character which has issues is Kazuki, he has almost no story the entire season, and you do not see his advancement of techniques like you do with Suzune, he basically sits on the sidelines more than side characters like Blurin. Kazuki makes almost no impact on the story this season, and is almost as rememberable as the guards at the castle, which means, he is not very memorable.

2. Pacing:
The pacing for this anime is all over the pace, the first portion of the show really pushes the story forward, then after the first half the story really starts to slow down quite a lot, which wouldn't be a problem if it didn't seem to artificially extend itself, but it tends to make episodes that really could've been combined with another episode. Episode 13 is one that could've been part of episode 12 if episode 12 had a faster pacing that didn't extend battle scenes to be 15 minutes of the episode, this could've been compacted into 13 easily if the pacing was more uniform across the series. This also isn't too much of an issue, all things considered, but it is a bit weird how the producers set up the episodes, where it needs to force itself off of conversations using Blurin or another character as a plot device when the producers realize they used too much time on one scene.

3. Ending:
It ends on a sharp cliffhanger, which means that you will have to wait a very long time for another section of this anime to be adapted from the light novel. This is probably the worst aspect that a show can force out on a finale, especially when it seems like it wasn't exactly where the plot would've gone to and ended where they could get away with it. This is by far the worst part of this anime.

Conclusion:
This anime is definitely worth a watch if you can stomach a cliffhanger of an ending, if you cannot then this might be a very underwhelming series for you, but I still would recommend giving it a try before you might give it up.

Was this show amazing? No. Was it worth a watch? I think so.
The Wrong Way To Use Healing Magic is one of the new more common types of shows that air nowadays, with a small amount of weekly episodes. If you didn't watch it while it was releasing like I did, I can see this being something you'd watch on the weekend or even a single day. If you're going to breeze through this, I think it will make it even more enjoyable.

I'm going to use the MAL ranking system to make my reviews easier to look back on for myself, so here we go.

STORY: ... 7 (Good)/10
The story of this show was quite basic with a few interesting but not unheard of concepts. However, for 13 episodes it was reasonable and didn't need to keep me hooked - the progression was basic, as it only covers about 1 chapter an episode, but there was no problem with it. What makes this show good for me is that it was rewarding for what you put into it. Longer shows, unless you watch them weekly, often have the problem of being weighed down by slow pacing and occasional filler. This show has a clear place to cut it - a perfect place to start Season 2, if they make it, so they probably didn't want to pass this point, and they did a good job of reaching it without dragging things out in One Piece fashion, which, despite it's brilliant story, makes it infuriatingly slow at times, with less than a chapter an episode (honestly, why would you even do this? You'd never need less than 1 chapter per weekly episode for a weekly manga) and very drawn out scenes - things go at a steady pace.

ART: 6 (Fine)/10
I want to make this section quick - all fine, not subpar and reaches 2024 standards. There's no problem here, so unless you were looking for some fabulous fantasy eye-candy, this should be good. I looked at the manga and I notice they've made the style less unique, but it's a positive change in my opinion as I wasn't really a fan of the manga's style.

SOUND: 7 (Good)/10
I don't want to put another 7 but this show was average in a good way, so it'll keep coming up. I can see someone putting 7 for every category. The music was enjoyable - I liked the opening but I'll probably never hear it again - no scratch that, it can go on my playlist - meaning I might hear it next December, if my shuffle play is kind to the song. My problem with it is that the OST was quite limited - I assume it had a reasonable amount of songs which I know were almost all good - but the number was a bit too small, so some scenes just didn't really go with the music. This doesn't happen in any very important scenes, though, and when it does you can just pay attention to the voices. On the topic of voices, I did actually try the English dub out of curiosity (though I watched the show in Japanese) just for a minute - it was mortifying. However, as a sub watcher, I liked the voices. They all fit the characters but there were no outstanding performances - just like the rest of the show.

CHARACTER: 6 (Fine)/10
It's a shame I can't be kinder to this show - but the characters were fine and no more than that. There was not really any character development, only minor things to the MC - but for 13 episodes it was fine. I didn't expect something special. Fine, just fine. One of the things I did like was the realism of the scenarios. The three 'isekaid' high-schooler characters were talking just like high-schoolers and there was only a very minor aspect of unneeded romance (which still fit by the way, but it wasn't really a plot point so they could have just left it) or exaggeration.

ENJOYMENT: 7 (Good)/10
Another one, huh? I think this is the kind of show anyone can like, as there's nothing major. In fact, the only people who won't like it are people who are looking for something major. I don't really reccommend it so somebody who doesn't like shonen (I say this because I know some isekais aren't really designed like shonen) but it's good for how I started this review - something to watch over one or two days, maybe while doing a particularly mind-numbing task. If that sounds relevant to you, I highly reccommend this show. But if you don't really want to use time unneccesarily, don't watch this. This is just fluff - it's something minor you don't need to spend much time on.

Weekend watch? Yes. Otherwise? Ignore this show.

Was this show about the Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic. Not to be rough, as I did actually like this show to an extent, but it taught me about the Wrong Way to Use Time. This was a good weekly watch, but it's like a friend you have in a job or school that you leave or finish and then never talk with again. Goodbye, The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic.

The start was pretty good, I liked all the characters, it wasn't too special, but it was nice to watch. Then the mid-section if you want to call it of this season came in, and it almost made me quit, because the episodes were so dragged out with basically meaningless conversations or backstory that didn't really even help the show and killed its pacing.
But when you get to the last two episodes it gets a lot better, still a very sour taste from the pain of watching something and forgetting about it. One more thing that kind of really bugged me that they were soon ... going to go into battle and boom another flashback, like damn.

This felt like I was watching an anime that would last 100+ episodes, but in reality it was just meaningless filler for the most part. If you are going to watch it, I'd say watch like the first 4 episodes and either skip around a lot until the last two, or just skip them in general. It's a decent anime, but if not for the pacing and filler it would've been wayy better.

Well hope's that season two if it comes out. Improves on this fact, if not this will be its downfall.

Intro - The second line of the anime name gives the overview of what the plot planned.
Story -
The plot and characters are interesting. Multiple interesting characters exist in the anime.
The main character was given some backstory and depth.
But the pace is highly uneven in middle episodes. Almost seems like a drag.
The amount of story covered in this season is low. They could have made the season longer or covered more chapters.
Somehow they managed to make it entertaining in the last 3-4 episodes. (And the first 3 or so eps are good).
The action and humor sequences are enjoyable.

The upcoming season looks promising but it all ... depends on their pacing and number of episodes.

This anime firstly shows a different vibe but then goes the same way as other adventure, wholesome anime.
Like other Isakai anime, this has the same vibe, and our protagonist gets some unique power. Then he develops it in a in a unique way. It is recommended for the adventure-type anime fan; it may give you some hooks. But the plot and the way of storytelling are the same as usual.
Our main protagonist has nothing more to offer than what we actually see in this kind of anime. but it is a good time pass anime, but not worth it if looking for something special.

I give it a 5 - it features two straight episodes of exposition which kills the show for me - I rate on how much I've enjoyed a show, not as an objective or comparative score.

It's an Isekai with variations, such as 'what if the main character wasn't the intended summon' and 'what if healing isn't just healing', neither of which are unique, but it's engaging enough all the same.
There are some interesting ideas, such as there being a trio of summoned heroes, one an accident, one hesitant and one enthusiastic about the situation.
The way healing is just as a personal boost ... to keep fighting, basically using your mana bar as an extended stamina bar as well as being able to constantly strengthen yourself through training without restitution - A neat concept to give the character weight as to how he becomes strong and also adding narrative weight to him.

The story and storytelling is for the most part fine, it looks good, the characters are mostly fun/interesting, but it starts dragging and then you get those two aforementioned episodes of flashback exposition towards the end, to explain the motivation of one character, that they've already explained through context and responses well enough and it doesn't just feel like it's wasting your time, IT IS wasting your time. That was entirely unnecessary.

Not slop, but not better than slop. It's only a 'mixed' recommendation because others might not mind the exposition and that's why I front loaded the review. I personally cannot stand it for a list of reasons and it distracts so much from what I'm watching, that it makes it a worse experience. Once I start skipping scenes, entire parts of an episode or even entire episodes (plural!), there's a problem.

It's a show that started really strong. Good story and writing, excellent characters and world building. Animation was decent as well. I really had high hopes for it. Then content started being diluted and episodes got more and more padding as time went on. Last few episodes felt almost like a filler.

Overall crew is technically capable of delivering a satisfying story but it's as if they decided not to. Some people claim they decided on number of manga issues and stuck with that, but ended up needing more content. Whether it's true or not, the fact remains it feels like a nothing burger. Good bun ... but lacking meat.

If there's a second season, we might get some completion and satisfaction from story continuation, but as it stands right now, alone, it's a mixed bag. It's not really bad and unwatchable, but you don't gain much entertainment by watching it either. Story feels empty and bland.

I'd say if you like the premise give it a shot but do know after 5-6 episodes things start slowing down considerably.

The anime has a really strong start, finally an isekai without all the questionable tropes of harem and sexualized children. It had great potential however its so freaking boring, nothing is happening, zero action. Im 8 episodes in and there was no serious battles, no real risk, just a lot of talking... Alot of it. We haven't seen the other two heroes develop nor do we really see the MC do anything, the healing aspect is mundane, just touch with green glow and its healed. Im waiting for the Battle to start and this better not be a let down like the past six episodes ... have been.
