Boy was I wrong about this one. It started average run of the mill kind of thing and I expected some degradation in quality but didn't think it would go that low. And there's nothing wrong about watching an average show as long as you set your expectations right. That is if you are able to set expectations. Whatever I expected from this show, this isn't it. It went down the toilet so fast. It's skid mark level on a date night level of surprising how bad it got.

world at least a while more. Whoever drew floors and some background images, did their best. It's clearly the place with most heart and effort.
The rest of the show, not so much. Whatever was acceptable initially stopped being so sometime around episode 8 at which point I can only guess all the artists got group discount code for lobotomy. Animation turned to almost still images envious of even the most abused PowerPoint templates. Writers forgot how it do. Sound engineers decided it's copy pasta time... It's ... well ... am speechless. Action scenes in ExArm literally had better choreography than later episodes of this show.
Supposedly between episode 8 and few episodes prior years have passed and main character spent a lot of time training hard, be we get none of that. He doesn't age, nor do other people. His training amounted to cheap sparkly effect followed by the story of him becoming very stornk now but it's never shown, only talked about. At least this power fantasy part writers get done well but here it feels empty. No emotion, no sense of scale, urgency, drama, nothing. And then they shove a little kid and a cute pet because reasons of being cute. Even that doesn't work.
My advice, just skip it. I've dropped it at episode 8 because I expected classic issekai perhaps with a twist of conflicting character, but naah. Half of the show is done and I have no idea what I watched.

Disgustingly average mix of most common issekai tropes with recent "banished from the party but secretly op" added to it. Predictable, uninspiring and painfully boring. Whole story develops the exact way you expect it to.
Main character is so average, predictable and acts smug and evil, but in the end helps everyone and hides his true power while downplaying its significance. Most annoyingly everyone changes character completely after meeting him even once. Most evil bastards will turn crying after just five minutes of him intervening. Makes me want to puke.

of a harem apart from few random personas which show up for short time and then disappear again. Of course there's also tsunderes, lollis, macho girls, girly girls, busty and flat. The only thing this show doesn't have is palatable story or at least some originality.
Art is actually fine for the most part, but animation is minimal. Whenever there's a possibility of taking shortcuts rest assured it was taken.
I have nothing else to say, witty or otherwise. It's just boring and things seem to keep happening out of the blue for sheer point of happening. And they are equally randomly resolved by events or skills you've never heard of until that point.

I should really treat myself with something nice for going through this show. If there was one thing I had the power to abolish from shows that would be whiny characters. And let me tell you, MC in this show produces more whining than violin tuning lesson in beginner courses. My god does he ever stop. And the answer to that is luckily yes, after first 4 or so episodes he doesn't sound like someone stepped on cat's tail anymore and show starts to be watchable. Sadly that doesn't mean whole thing suddenly becomes great.

they would, through MCs experiences, teach the rest of us to appreciate more important things in life. Sadly they can't decide whether they want a comedy or serious tone throughout or when to use which. It feels weird and oddly confusing.
Remaining characters are much more palatable and easier to like even though most of them are based on single character trait. We do get some world building with history and lives of few of them, but that's about it, and most decidedly not enough. Overall it whole thing feels like missed opportunity but not a flop. If you can stomach main character whining for first 3-4 episodes, then show will be watchable.

Am ashamed of myself for critiquing shows for being repetitive, and yet they reiterate the same story so often my reviews are getting repetitive as well. Not to mention running out of silly comparisons and insider jokes. I guess this is some next level meta stuff.
But yes, yet another show where main character is god-like capable and yet he doesn't know it and keeps acting as if it's nothing special. Which as I said in my other reviews, tee-hee, might work for a while but at some point unless main character is a rabbit, they have no other choice but to realize that constant surprises

from others mean he's full of it, as a simple result of ability to retain memories. Remaining characters are not worth mentioning, they are there to act surprised at literally everything MC does.
Other than one dimensional character (not plural, others don't matter), the remaining aspects are fine. Art is pretty to look at and competent but average. Sound design as well. Story doesn't exist and it's there as a vehicle for main character to bring out some more "oooh" and "aaah" from the rest of the bunch. You couldn't spoil this show even if you tried because it's so generic it sound like thousands of other shows.
The problem, and the reason for "not recommended", lies in the fact I've watched third of the episodes and there's no hint of anything happening or any story developing. Literally every episode so far was MC doing something and everyone else being surprised. So this show is beyond redemption in my eyes since they don't have enough time to properly develop anything now. Am not even going to bother mentioning a list of other shows this one feels like for comparison. Simply not worth the watch and not worth the effort.

It's a mixed bag really. First season left us wanting for more with its good choreography, animation style and quite novel idea for a story if a bit shallow. But it was good enough to hold attention and action filled up the missing parts.
New season rolls in and it's a disappointment. From stiff CGI animation to predictable characters and senseless beatings you really have nothing going on at the moment. For three episodes now we watched a group fight because two other gang members fought and other than rage inducing bits there's nothing else. only 12 episodes planned I don't know how they plan on introducing the story, if there's any.
I have mixed feelings instead of directly not recommending this one simply because I expect more from Cloverworks. That said, if we are to judge what we've seen so far objectively this season has Ninja Kamui written all over it. All action and no substance. This whole thing might change in upcoming 9 episodes, but I doubt because trend was set in season one and it didn't budge. Hopefully it gets better for the fans, but for me it's a drop. Hopefully am proven wrong since we are in a dire need for some good shows to watch.

Absolute garbage of a show. This show has a structure of a teenager's shower session in which he imagines arguments with everyone and wins each one through sheer brilliance and zero effort. Every single character is either absolute saint or absolute evil. No in between.
There is, however, a hidden blessing. It's painfully obvious how big of a failure this will end up being from first episode alone. Rarely is it ever telegraphed so clearly that they have no idea what a compelling story or character design is. as blank as they come. From becoming omnipotent and unique to world building and supporting characters introduced to him not having food but being a good guy... All of it in 10-15 minutes. That's world building complete. Invest emotion into all this now. Thank you.
It's not even average issekai. I'd at least chuckle if we had truck-kun appear out of nowhere and hit main character while he's framing. As it stands it is just a festival of conveniences held in a swamp of mediocrity and absence of imagination. At least it's colorful.

A beacon of hope in damp cellar of ideas where anime shows are born. While others are playing the game of testing the limits of audiences when it comes to repetition this show decided to tell their own story. It's not a great story and it's most likely an ad for the game of the same name but it's good enough and we are certainly not being spoon-fed any content by force.
While story is not the one to ever get leather-bound hardback edition for some noble's library it is serviceable enough to provide good entertaining. With its supremely tuned pacing in combination with really well

coordinated fights and good animation every episode leaves you craving for more. Characters, even though not as deep as they could be, are well designed and written in a way that gives you enough to understand them without making them hard to empathize with.
Overall it's a good, solid and entertaining show.

Shows are starting to blur. Each season brings up number of them which, if not for the name, you could have sworn you have already watched not so long ago. Similar looking characters, with same voices, same temperament, same behavior patterns forming a harem and following in same footsteps as many of them before did.
But it seems writers and directors have gained sentience this time as this show is not as boring and not as bad as the others. It's not good or creative either. Story is still the same from that one show from last season, and season prior to that, and one before

it, and one before that one, ... But boy are they playing it safe. There's no drama and certainly no suspense. Nothing phases our one main character who has been copied from other shows. He is always on top of everything, best of the best, most knowledgeable and desirable. Man it gets tiring even writing about it, let alone watching him.
Show is not offensively bad or poorly produced, but it is offensively boring since everything always goes his way. And every episode is they go on another dungeon crawling adventure where you get to see how untouchable he is. But this time there's a modern touch where he streams everything for others to see. Why such device is never used for scouting purposes is anyone's guess. Most offensive thing however is attempt by the writers to present main character as someone who uses ordinary spells creatively to fight, but fights are some of the most boring things I've ever watched in my life, and I've watches fights in ExArm.
There's more I could rant about this, but am tiring myself as well. It's boring and predictable. Every episode starts the same way where they go into the dungeon, then there's a 2 minute fight, and the rest is spent strengthening harem bonds of female warriors who thought the proper choice of attire for damp place ridden with sharp metals, orcs and spear traps is miniskirts.

This show is developing the way we all seem to develop stories in our head moments upon waking up after a great dream we had. Story in which everything goes your way and you only need imagine something to be granted. Where things magically fall into their own place and no one is better looking, stronger or smarter than you.
First few episodes go somewhat slow but in a very predictable and well trodden path of issekai shows. Then things start speeding up and all of the sudden you find yourself challenged to accept even the simplest of stupid things of which there's plenty. Left and

right things appear and go in favor of our main character who is supposedly under the influence of starter's luck. But even then it's too much.
Skills appear out of nowhere, leveling happens because, things of importance happen off-screen, etc. Episode 4 broke me. Whole town, it seems, is busy oooing and aaahing main character and being generally stumped at his greatness. Not only that, every action he takes dials things up to 11 again. And again. And again. By the end of this episode he already has a harem, people envy him, he screams like a degenerate goat in attempts to invoke feeling of humor, he already beat hard quest and is giving immediate jump in ranks.
Are we serious? Is this how low things have fallen? This is borderline unwatchable even though animation is okay, as is character and sound design. But story... immensely stupid. By the end of the episode he was screaming so much, I had to drop the show and write this review while promising myself I will start spending my life in smarter ways. I've given it a 5 because it's average. It's not bad, but simply put it's not... anything. Faceless and lacking character. Watch at your own risk.

Show which can be easily described in few sentences. It's a world filled with mentally challenged kids and adults who never skip a single opportunity to jump to 100% always wrong conclusions. This plot convenience is the main driver for everything, story, drama, so-called humor and character development. For anything to progress there absolutely needs to be misunderstanding of sorts and then you repeat the same process on every character involved since everyone will also have wrong opinion about everyone. A recursion of misunderstandings.
It's just a mess which they tried to hide using the old "tee hee look how silly they are" method. Main character

is the biggest offender here since he is suppose to be the most powerful, as hinted by everyone. To add in-salt (haha, using humor from the show, pun intended) to injury he never realizes how strong he is which is a trait that has become popular recently and is okay to have for an episode, maybe two.
Of course we can't skip the whole harem thing either. From such a show we can't expect anything more than to walk a very trodden path of common cliches which only makes it blend easier in haystack of similar shows.
It's a brain dead show with cliche characters in cliche magical world and cliche city with circular walls in which cliche blue eyed perfect main character without sexual drive resides slowly gathering his harem which he never does anything with. I'd say it might pass as a time waster show, but there are others that suit the role far better and don't require you to suffer from constantly screaming "acting".
